    Great job, Wayne! Of course, Barnes is not part of III Corps (it's V Corps), but that's OK. The point is made. Also, the cool thing about opting to Skedaddle in your example means that during their Movement Step, the first Union unit that moves adjacent to assault the Rebel unit would have to take Defensive Fire (which is not the case had the Reb unit stayed adjacent). So some interesting choices there. A wonderful overview tutorial and thanks so much for doing it. By the way, the expanded player aids are up for download from the Flying Pig website. Thanks again and good gaming!

    Had this for months now but it sat in the box as I've tried to understand this (New to me) rules system. Great vid... Big big help. I'm now comfortable with the system as I had my "Ah Hah" moment where it finally clicked. Again, great vid as you explained it much better than a rule book alone ever could. Thank you.

      That's great news! I'm glad my video helped, and hopefully you get some time with the game now.

    Very helpful overview. I am making my way through the rules and this will speed up the learning process. I am playing a game right now from White Dog games simply called Antietam by Michael Kennedy. A much simpler game which also has a very nice map. I recently visited both the Gettysburg and Antietam battleground sites recently so it will be interesting to play these games . A Most Fearful Sacrifice looks to be a wonderful game.

      I'm glad it's helpful Mike! And I have had my eye on Antietam also... I need to get a copy.

    Thanks Wayne. Good learning start for me. Having just played the Blind Sword system (Thunder at Dawn) understanding is a bit easier. Yes, some changes but nothing drastic in my opinion.

      Absolutely Bill, coming from Blind Swords to this is a lot easier than starting from scratch. Not that it's a difficult system, you just already have that base and many of the concepts down.

    This is a great Rules Overview, Wayne! Little by little working on the game when I could…. Took me about 2 1/2 weeks to get to where I was finally understanding the rules, and not forgetting stuff (like support). So in total hours, I’d say that was about 11-14… And that’s NOT knowing any prior Blind Swords system. I’m ready for larger scenarios, from here it’s all Downhill, on a ‘Steep Slope’ 😜!

      Thanks Tom. That sounds about right, you can't master this system in an afternoon, although I think you could start pushing counters around by then.

    Hey Wayne.... nice video. Since Longstreet attacks is one of my favorite games, I can't help notice how similar it is to this game. Looks like it would be very easy to learn already knowing how to play that game. Saying that, is it worth getting? Is there enough differences to keep it fresh? Keep up the good work!

      Hey Jeff, good to see you! Yes I believe the two systems (Black Swan (here), and Blind Swords) will be able to co-exist and provide a system for designers to cover any scale of ACW battle. As a huge fan of Blind Swords, I can't recommend this one enough. My review will go into more detail.

    What do you think of the LOS rules in the game ? Hope they are not overly complex.

    • @WayneHansen
      @WayneHansen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very simple. It describes what is Blocking terrain (think Woods and Units on the same level, or intervening hills) and what is Obscuring (causing a column shift modifier) terrain (think shooting over Woods or over a Unit), and points out that yes Hexsides count. I never had a problem with LOS as long as I didn't overthink it. Just follow the rules as written.
