Jumping headfirst into this system. Purchased *Prelude to Vicksburg, Longstreet Attacks* and *Sedgwick Attacks* a month ago, and have the other eight, including *Shiloh,* on the way. It was the similar system presented in *A Most Fearful Sacrifice* that intrigued me.
Wow, that's impressive progress in a short time! I'd be curious to hear your favorites after you get a chance to explore them. It really is a fun, playable system. :)
Thanks, I wasn't aware this one is coming😱 Looks like between this one, MMPs latest GCACW title and upcoming Grant from Compass Western Theatre will see a lot of action 😁
Thank for the video and a nice dive in. I have this already and after initial reading, I believe after a bit of reading the complexity is a bit higher that 4. I am think average of scenarios is more like 5-6. New players might find it more that some of the other smaller games. But it is still a good addition to the series.
Interesting, thanks for the thoughts. I look forward to digging in and exploring more. Part of my impressions might come from being comfortable with the system, so it might be harder for me to judge.
@@ZillaBlitz I really like the game, some ACW bias could be involved, but would like to try some of the others to see if they are as enjoyable, as well as any little quirks to the system.
No! NO!! I cannot afford any more games about the battle of Shiloh...but I must have them all. It's a weird obsession I have about this fascinating and tragic battle. (EDIT: tragic in terms of # of lives lost...not in the outcome)
I've got #8 Grand Havoc and this one. Both seem fairly similar in complexity. I'd be inclined to pick any of the later ones, probably the battle that interests you the most? Having said that, if there is one that is considered the best in terms of gameplay, that might be the best one to get? I don't have that level of knowledge of the system yet, though. Working on it! :)
@@ZillaBlitz At any costs Metz looks interesting as well as the Italian war of independence game due out soon. I would like to try some different conflicts from the US civil war.
I have Vol. #10, Sedgwick Attacks, Salem Church. I was not familiar with the Blind Swords system, so I chose this game as it only has one map and one counter sheet with a low number of units. I found the game to be a great introduction to the system.
Great topic but I have Into the Woods for GBACW so I don't feel the need for this. I will say that the maps are better at differentiating elevation than Into the Woods.
My favorite tactical ACW series! I have all eleven volumes.
Oh, nice! Can I ask, what's your top 2 or 3?

@@ZillaBlitz No sales resistance when confronted with discounts.
Can't relate. :)
That massive map and the potential 24h play time for the longest campaign would take some serious commitment!
I think the full length of the big scenario is probably close to 8-12 hours, so playable in a big day of gaming or a weekend. :)

Yes, I missed it too, it came out more quickly than I expected. :)

Well done, and thanks. My copy comes Monday, can't wait.
Thanks, and my pleasure! A lot of gameplay in the box, for sure. The big scenario looks incredibly fun. :)
Excellent review. I have Stonewall's Sword and would like to try some of the others. Many thanks.
How do you like Stonewall's Sword? I've been thinking to add a couple more. :)

I like how they add custom rules to adjust for the uniqueness of each battle.
Really fantastic video! First rate job!
Thanks, David, I'm glad you liked it. :)
great review - thank you
My pleasure, thanks! :)
I will get this one!
Enjoy! :)
It would be great to play one of the smaller scenarios some time. You know what a fan I am of the chit pull mechanic!
Definitely, I feel pretty comfortable with the system, and we could easily play one of the smaller scenarios in a couple of hours as you learned. :)

Ha! I can understand the feeling. I hope you enjoy this one too. :)
And such a bloody day, yes. Over 20k casualties.
It's such a pretty game and I would love to play it, but I already have a Shiloh regimental game (A Fearful Slaughter)
Can't get 'em all, makes sense. :)
You should look at Shiloh'62 by WDS PC game. Regimental for both days. Excellent game. Play against AI or another person by email. Great graphics.
Oh, that sounds like a good idea, yes. Thanks. :)
Which module would you recomend as an introduction to the Blind Swords system.

Makes sense, yes. Perhaps one of the Blind Swords games that cover less common battles?

Good to know, thanks! And I think they have bagged copies that are cheaper than the boxed ones.

@@ZillaBlitz So many games so little funds and time to buy and play them all! Just finished North Africa 41 and it was a fun game.
I can definitely relate. Still trying to figure out how to clone myself. :)
