Video quality is very important to me. I ride a motorcycle, and every time i'm in the saddle, i'm recording with my x3 version. I absolutely love it but looking at the video quality that you just displayed. I have to get the x4. $500...OUCH! I'll be saving my pennies to purchase the x4.
In one area, the X4 is actually a severe downgrade. They removed the AEB feature (auto exposure bracketing) which annoyed many 360 photographers rely on it and "upgraded" to the X4. Insta360 have hinted that they may bring AEB back, but no indication of when it will be.
@@oppenheimer11 Auto Exposure Bracketing. It takes multiple photos at different exposures in one click. These can then later be combined to create one of two things. 1. HDR photo, where you get all the detail in both dark and light areasnof a photo. Mostly used for Virtual Tours. 2. HDRI, which is a 32bit image containing light information which goes beyond what you can see on the monitor. This is used for visual effects. The image can be placed in a 3D scene as a light source and will give the correct lighting to the 3D model to match the real life background.
Hi! I have an insta X3 that I use almost exclusively to take time lapses at sunrise/sunset and star lapses, I then watch the resulting 360 videos on my oculus quest in VR, since I'm an amateur with limited experience in your opinion is the X4 a noticeably better camera for the purpose? Cheers!
I’m sticking with my X3. 🤙🏾 Also, and this has absolutely nothing to do with the video, but you have - bar none - the most beautiful and calming speaking voice I’ve ever heard. I’ve been following for a while and have watched several of your videos and I sometimes turn up the volume and do other things just to hear your voice in the background. Have you considered being an eBook reader or narrator of some sort? Just a thought. Stay beautiful and keep cranking out great content. 🥰
Yup, the medium sharpness setting is essential on the X4 and I suspect that reviewers who don't think there's much difference between the two cameras have not tested that setting properly, unlike in this review where you totally nailed it. But I am really surprised that you don't think that there is much difference in the audio quality between the two. In other comparison videos for me the X4 audio has sounded significantly improved. And the feature set of the X4 does have a lot to offer compared to the X3, in the way of available video formats and a number of new features. When I finally succumb to the X4 I shall use it for low risk shoots. The X3 will do more risky stuff and the X1 will do the suicide missons...
It feels like the image of the X3 has had a global lift. Zo shadows and highlights all together upped a stop or so. I think that if you'd pull down the image it would look almost the same as the X4, retaining detail in the sky and adding contrast in the shadows. Just an internal settings thing instead of a hardware difference it seems.
As I read through the comments and we are all here to help one another, I had the X2, and tried the X3 but returned it hearing the X4 came out soon after. I have the DJI mic 2 so please tell me is it better off to get the X4 as thre are a few upgrades, like removable lens guards, Me mode is 4K, and a higher resolution can be used.. thanks for any adivce the sale is on for the X3 at $350, but none for the X4 and it may be over real soon
I used the X3 on my last snowboard trip and I think one area that needs to be considered is the weight difference, with the X4 being a fair bit heavier especially when held for long periods on the end of a fully extended selfie pole or mounted on a helmet.
When I think "Upgrade" I think I own something, and now should I go upgrade to the new version (or keep what I have) That is not a $100 difference, that is a $500 new purchase. So to be honest this should say "wich one should you buy" it has nothing to do with upgrading and was not what I expected or was looking for. If I was buying new, then thats easy just get the new one. Not only is that not a lot of more money to spend, for new features that matter a lot, but your getting the newest product ensuring a long life cycle of firmware upgrades, support, etc. Some of the other big things different that I didnt see would be like the new removable premium lens guards, that was a huge issue on the earlier model. That alone is for $100 to me because else I'll be buying 4 cameras a year due to damage, or suffer terribly quality with akward protection that doesnt work well with the old one.
It doesn’t matter how many K resolutions its when uploaded video to Facebook will be all the same quality because they all crop to same lower resolution to reduce the size of video
I WASN'T leaning toward X4, but you... you... YOU had to go and ROON IT! 😂 EVEN on a Samsung S24 Ultra the Color, Clarity and IQ in general were noticeably better. Colors were richer without being oversaturated, and the X3 footage looks almost washed out compared. Sigh. Its easy to justify an X3 kit vs a base model X4, but now... I just. cannot. do. it. I'm mad at you, but I'd be madder if this was post-purchase, so you are forgiven! 😂

the X4's 5.7k mode looks blurry in every preview I have seen, what is going on ?

um.. the x3 CAN connect to Bluetooth mic. I've used the DjMic 2 before buying my x4.

Good point. The X4 definitely has more weight to it.

Idk why people say that..."when you export, its only 1080p". I disagree because the details of the reframed expoer shows 3840x2160 aka 4k
4K export when you shoot in 8K, 1080p export when you shoot in 5.7K. They’re the defaults.

You missed active HDR on x3, if you switch to active Hdr on x3 i will say x3 is better than x4

I had no choice as the insta pole failed and my X3 hit the ground damaging one lens - one day after the warranty ended.
