A month or two later, they call a family member or a friend, crying and shaking, begging them to take them home. They are all traumatized now and refuse to talk about anything that happened while they were away. I think it's time we start drilling into kid's heads that no matter how bad they think their family is, it's a million times better than what WILL happen to them if they run away.

I hated living with my parents when I was young, but I'm glad I was properly educated in the dangers of the streets. The idea of leaving home did cross my mind but I never dared to do so because I couldn't think of any source of income.
