I've found a VERY different approach to healing that works best for me. I have many friends that are so focused on themselves, they become self obsessed. When you take your eyes OFF yourself and look outward to help others, your own problems seem to shrink like magic. There was something in the bible about this that inspired me (sorry can't recall exactly). When I was my most depressed, I volunteered at my local animal shelter in my spare time. It immediately got me out of my own head, and focused on helping the dogs and cats have a better life. Walking, bathing and playing with them healed me as much as it helped them. It stopped me from constantly analysing and overy analysing everything to the point of constant stress. We live in a world where there is so much "me-me-me". I fully believe that when you do for others, it brings a different peace and joy.
My counselor always said, “listen with your eyes”, actions speak louder than words. Words without action is manipulation ❤️
Try marriage for 38 years with all its ups and downs and all the struggles between two people. Each one going through hard times but each one there to support the other and to lift one another up. If you truly love someone those are the sacrifices to come out the other side together. Relationships aren’t always a bed of roses.
You only have 1 chance at life, why let a toxic, unhealthy, marriage screw up the best year's of life!!!

Being in a bad relationship can make you very sick mentally, physically and spiritually. Good for you Lisa for reclaiming yourself. We can’t sacrifice ourselves endlessly for someone who is complacent and unwilling and sometimes like you said leaving is a catalyst for the other person’s growth.
This is just my opinion, but over 45 and up, real, deep, transformative romantic connections are extremely rare. To find two people that want and are capable to take the same path and change at the same pace is also extremely rare. The most succesful relationships for people that met each other over 50, that I see around me, are based more on a partnership, doing common activities and respect for each other's differences. They are calm, pretty mundane and those people basically leave each other be. Good luck in your journey, thank you for sharing.

I’ve been single almost 6 years and it’s kind of a relief to not be at someone else’s beck and call and I can do what I want when I want. I have a wonderful dog as my companion and has very few demands. Too many women think they need to be in a relationship to be validated.

This video touched my soul! I lost my husband almost 5 months ago. My friends keep asking me how can I get through each day, first I see a therapist and I’m starting to understand that we all have a purpose. I’ve learned so much being in my marriage and wouldn’t trade it for the world. But I had to let go of focusing on losing my husband but finding my happiness without him here anymore. True happiness is being spiritually connected to God. This has helped me heal and I’m still in the healing process.

This resonates so much with me. I have always for the longest time tried to find happiness somewhere else except with myself. I've always felt like my world was collapsing when my friends were gone for example, or try to find happiness in buying and buying things all the time, and when that rush fades out, I got out shopping again to find happiness and fulfillment in owning those things. It's true in the end, we just have to find happiness within ourselves. Thank you so much with this message and this amazing video as always.

I'm so sorry to hear all of this, Lisa. If you remember me, I was one of the women who told you that you needed more time to heal from Aruba guy. It took me 2 years to find myself and heal before I started a new relationship. Whether he was your friend for a year, you started dating Florida guy 6 months after Aruba guy. I also said that packing up and leaving your family wouldn't be a good idea. I hope you truly take more time before entering into another relationship. Good luck, Lisa.

This new year that is coming, my folks will be celebrating 70 years of marriage. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't all good (my mom has a pretty strong character that made us scared). She became tough that way, so we dealt with it. She isn't a bad person, and I love her deeply, so does my Dad (Mom and Dad will be celebrating their 87 and 90 year old birthdays in the coming year), and in their younger years, they had to make it work for the better, work through every single problem as a parental unit (7 natural children, and 3 adopted cousins). We were also poor. There aren't many marriages around like this, anymore.

My mom was 18 years old when she married my dad they got divorced when I was 9 years old then , remarried and he was a big mistake and the divorced after almost 10 years of marriage, after that my mom was only 40 years old but she never went out with anybody she said that she was gone dedicate her life to us her kids & God and she is 79 years old and is very happy by herself she travels with her best friend that is also divorced, sometimes,is better to be by yourself.
