Fun video, If you still have problems (as your cooling system looks quiet dirty) try Fernox F3 x 2 Central Heating Cleaner was recommended by another Mini fanatic and is apparently the best way to clean your whole system out and improves cooling quiet a lot.

Probably just the pressure cap from the expansion tank they fail but use a genuine mg rover replacement one because the after market ones are no good

Sounds like the starter motor wasn't disengaging.

Cooling system in a Mini should be flushed in no more than 2 years time. Ideally every season.

Iv got to do mine this year I Haven’t flushed my cooling System since 2018 and my temperature gauge still sit below normal and the coolant is a very nasty 🤢 Colour
