This is great! A tip for all: If you have a dark blue, purple, or pink, you can mix them with white conditioner (silicone free preferred!) in a bowl to dilute the colour to create pastel colours. :) Can save you from having to buy multiple colours.

For whose asking about the "alpaca hair" this has to be Suri Alpaca fiber because that is the only Alpaca breed that has long locks like this.
Your accent sounds so regal and your voice is so gentle, you sound like an all knowing, all loving ruler of fairy folk. I'm likely never going to die alpaca hair for any reason. I could still watch this video a thousand times just to listen to you talk about it.

i just bought some alpaca fibers. I am just starting out with wig making, so I only bought a small cheap 4 oz bundle to play with so I don't feel bad if I waste it. after watching your wig tutorials, especially the mermaid, and the boho butterfly crown, I feel like I could probably use your videos as a guide line and hopefully not mess up too bad lol. i just came back to rewatch this video and the one before it before purchasing the fibers. I'm nervous but excited about making my first wig! thank you for always sharing your knowledge in an easy to follow, and fun to watch method.

Very interesting! I dye my hair and use wood aniline for it, I think it should work for that. The process is the same, but as it comes in powder, I mix it with a moisturizing hair mask before using. I'm Brazilian, so, sorry for my bad english :p

I never thought of using Alpaca fur for wigs. I am relay excited now. I own a Llama which has very similar fur to an alpaca's and if that doesn't work I will ask a family friend for her alpaca fur. Thank you so much!

Hi! Ok so I have a question to ask. If you want the wig to have highlights what would you do? Just add tiny strands of hair that are lighter then the original color? Or is there another type of thing? And if you are planning on making a video for making a full wig can you show us how to add in highlights?

When dying natural fibers- use acid dyes meant for natural fibers. It is the way to get accurate and permanent colors. :) Ye can find these many places, but Dharma.com is a big company for it.
I saw that you had crazy color too. What are your experiences with that dye? This was a great tutorial, thanks.

***** There is no magic number I can give you, it depends on the hairstyle, volume of the hair, if you plan colouring it, if you need to wash it and clean it, if you make any mistakes etc. You might end up losing a lot of fiber just from the fact that you are new at handling it and making a wig. Just buy a bit more the first time (maybe 2 ounces) and see how you go :)

Where did u buy the dolls?
Is there a particular reason why you have to use semi permanent hair dye on the alpaca hair? Like if I was making one based of your instructions and wanted a wig with natural tones; why could I not simply use what I would on my own head? Also, when will you make the wig tutorial on how to actually plug the hair into the bald cap that you've done a wonderful job of showing us how to make. (I really really liked that video because I never thought it'd be that easy and so simple - cuz now I can make wigs for as many dolls as I want!)
Casey Shaw I use semipermanent colours because they are cheap, easy to use and do not require a developer. If you wanted natural tones (do you mean browns, blondes, reds and blacks?) I would simply buy alpaca fiber in that colour. I would not buy white alpaca hair and then colour it brown, unless you are trying to achieve an ombre effect. I am making the episodes as per order of the wig making process so it will take awhile to get everything covered :)

Artistic Awesomeness I do not live in the USA so I can't tell you a specific store. However If you check my previous videos of this series you will find out the online stores that I recommend ordering from.
Artistic Awesomeness I have seen wool roving at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but never alpaca fiber. If you have a proper yarn store near you, you might have some luck there. However, I have personally purchased from Alpaca Meadows on Etsy (one of Andreja's recommendations in her other video) and found them to be very friendly and helpful. They sell unprocessed fiber in both natural and dyed colors, so you will need to separate, wash, and flatiron the locks. It is time-consuming, but not difficult, once you've seen how to do it.
