Hair Prep - How to Sort Raw Fiber For Sculptures and Art Dolls

Hi guys! ^-^ I didn't had any fleece left so it was time to order again and I thought why not show you how I'm sorting this "hairball" :D I hope it will help you too! :)

I got alpaca fleece, sorted and washed it, and now it's falling apart. I don’t know why, I'm not pulling hard on it or anything, but when I try to brush it it pulls apart like yarn.

Alpaca like the animal ? Does it comes in different colors , styles like curly

Manuela Correa it is all natural freshly cut alpaca hair, it will not come curled.

Since it's a natural fiber from an animal, it should style and dye well

Do you use fabric or hair dye to color your fleece fibers?

+trash gator To be honest mixed. If I like a certain hair dye color, I just use that or the other way around with fabric color 😁 I want to try with food coloring since my grandma used to dye her fleece like that but I'm yet to try it 🙂

MariaLazar Food dye seems like an easier and cheaper method. Especially for more fun colors.
