I have never been a cake person...except for Lemon Pound Cake. My Aunt Betty made one almost every week, it seemed like, but that was 35-40 years ago.🤷🏼♀️ She would cut big slices for me and my little brother, slowly wrap a paper towel around them, and hand them to us as if they were The Hope Diamond. I thought she was a kitchen magician, and you are very much like her. Thank you for making my mouth water again.♥️
We live in western NY State, I am an RN and my husband is a captain for the NYS Police, our 3 sons are also cops. We live in the country and I cook and bake as much as you. I LOVE your videos. There’s nothing political about this cooking channel. I want to tell Lori my family loves lemon pound cake and I bought a bag of lemons to make two of your cakes (one for a friend). I pray for all nurses & doctors and peace officers. Your jobs are not easy. Eat lemon cake and be happy, safe & well. Keep on cook’n Mrs Brown.
Coco Wahlgrin. Some of us are here to spend time enjoying this sweet lady’s cooking channel. No one has said anything racist. No one has mentioned the President. Lori you are the neighbor everyone would love to have. Your voice is so comforting it is like hearing from a good friend. I pray the Lord makes your life all that you want it to be. Bless you and Mr. Brown .
My husband and I are sitting here drooling watching this. I am going to print the recipe and make it for my sons birthday. Kids are grown but I still make them birthday cakes. He will love this! God Bless! We love you and Mr Brown. :)
My Southern Grandma made a pound cake in a tube pan every week of her adult life. She always wanted to have something on hand in case "Company" came. Well, this lemony cake would certainly make your "Company" very happy if you served it to them. Thanks for the great recipe which brought back a beautiful memory.

I have watched all your video's now and I Love each one of them !! I was born and raised in Southern California, but when my Husband retired we Moved to Hot Springs Arkansas (actually Pearcy ) and I Love it here we have a nice little Farm with a natural creek and a Beautiful pond, I'm going to miss Arkansas when I move back to California. I'm moving because my Husband Passed away on Christmas, and there is no way I can take care of all of this by myself..but i'm happy knowing I can take you with me.. Much Love to you and Mr. BrownThank you so much for all your recipes and Video'sLove Annie
I’m so so sorry for your loss Annie. It sounds like you have a lovely place in Arkansas. Hold onto your treasures when you move. They will be comforting to you. I too lost my wonderful husband of fifty four years , a little over a year ago. I am in Kentucky. I will keep you in my prayers. Strength and courage. Barbara 💜
Hi Annie, I almost wish I could move in with you at your Arkansas home...I'm a widow too, and I dearly miss my husband...we always tackled everything together and enjoyed our successes. God bless and Best of luck, no matter where you set down roots...⚘💕🙏🏽
Mrs Lori, that lemon pound cake looks so yummy hun. That's one of my favorite cake hun. Thanks for sharing this with us hun. Once again you made it look so simple hun. That's what great about you hun. You take your time to show us step by step how to do things hun. Making it look so easy hun. That old time little mixer that you used is so neat hun. (The one that you use to make the whip topping hun). I hope you and Mr. Brown have a blessed day hun. May your crops stay plentiful and your cupboard stay full hun.
You have the prettiest smile. I don't like sweets because my mother never allowed them in the house when I was growing up so I never acquired a taste for them. And I never had a birthday cake or ice cream, ever. Yes I know that's weird, but that was my childhood. But I do love lemon baked goods maybe because the tartness of the lemon offsets the sweetness? Well, it makes sense to me, lol. That cake does look divine. On another note, as fate would have it, I married a sugar addict. My husband would finish that whole cake, jar of strawberries and jar of whipped creme in about a minute and a half. That would be his idea of the best dinner on the planet!
Oh, Mrs. Lori, we just picked some of the biggest, fattest blueberries that this cake will go PERFECT with. I’m going to make this in the morning. (And that sweet baby’s voice with you were mixing was just precious!!) 😘
Another Beautiful recipe ♡♡♡ I know Mr. Brown was telling the Truth♡♡♡ That Lemon Pound Cake was Divine♡♡♡ My taste buds can almost feel the texture of that perfection ♡♡♡ I Love y'all so very much ♡♡♡ GOD BLESS Y'ALL FOREVER AND EVER ♡♡♡ Have A Beautiful Blessed Evening ♡♡♡
oh mrs Lori I ryrwatch every video I can that you and Mr Brown make. I am 80 years old and am still learning things from yall Thanks and God bless Johnnie Roberts, Bryson City, NC
What a Wonderful recipe, I too love lemon!! Your mixer looks to be a Dorby, they were made in Illinois maybe 40's or 50's. Thank you for sharing with us and the Grandbabies!!
Awww , this video brought back some good memories for me . Especially when you're little grandbaby started talking to you in the video . It reminded me of my grandmama making homemade cakes like this when I was a little girl . I love lemon pound cake and I love the old mixer too . I paused this video so I could show my husband the old mixer and your pound cake . He loved it too . Thank you for sharing another great video with us !! God bless y'all !!
I love your pound cake recipe, it looks wonderful. I have lots of lemons in my yard and I think I’ll make one tonight. I live in California on the central coast. I was wondering how do you make your strawberry purée. My mother was from the mid west and cooked a lot like you did here in California so I learned a lot from her. You bring a lot of memories back. Your an inspiration. I love your channel. Best of luck on your she shed.
Love your vintage cake cover! I wish I could find one sometime on the rare occasion I get to go antiquing and thrift shopping. Oh, and there must be something in the air...I made a pound cake today too! 😊
I was just introduced to your channel. And I adore ya'll! I'm a chef in Florida, trying to save for my own homestead. One day. God bless ! Keep up the that good old home cooking.
Lemon is my all time favorite! I am headed to Dallas in a few and could stop in Arkansas for a visit. Lol. Hoping you and Mr. Brown enjoy the delicious cake. You are truly a rare diamond 💎. God bless you today and always. 🙏🏻
This looks so delicious-I'm off work tomorrow, I think I'll make it! Miss Lori, your channel is SUCH a God send! Every time you post something new I can't wait to watch. It restores my calm and settles my nerves. I live just a few miles from Minneapolis and to say that it's been hard is an understatement. Coming home from work and watching one of your videos is so helpful! Have you thought of offering merchandise with your channel name on it? Shirts, bowls, etc. I would buy them in a heart beat to support you! Thank you so much for posting....you and Mr. Brown are so helpful!!
Libby Jensen I was going to say the same thing, except I am not near any of the riots or other awfulness! My heart aches for you and all in these situations. Blessings, Love and Grace of GOD to you all! I keep you in my heart and prayers, ALL of my love!!!!
Ohhh I have to make that, also nothing like fresh whipped cream. That's a great little mixer. So nice to hear your grand babes in the background. Love you Miss Lori and your taste tester Mr. Brown . You two are awesome. God bless you and your family.
Hello Miss. Lori, I wanted to tell you that I made this lemon pound cake with my four year old grandson Walter! We had so much fun doing it and he was so proud of himself for doing it! The little guy sat by the oven about 3 feet away sitting on the kitchen floor with his dinosaurs watching it bake. The cake did take 70 minutes to cook all the way through and get golden brown (we like it very golden). This one really is a keeper, thank you so much for the video! Stay safe and healthy, God Bless you and Mr. Brown.
I've not made a pound cake in moons! I just don't ever think of doing one l suppose. I wonder what blueberries would be like with this, bet it'd be pretty tasty too 😋
I love to see the twinkle in your eye lady bug. Love watching your videos. And I say that quite a few of the recipes. Thank you so much you’re a blessing
LOVE all your bowls and pans ! lost many of grandmas stuff from a nasty flood and poor storage situation! and I would eat that cake two to three days tops!!
Hello, I'm new to your channel and I'm catching up with the others. I'm originally from Massachusetts and lived on a sheep farm providing wool to the textile mills in Fall River and New Bedford Massachusetts until they closed an moved out of state. My parents always liked the simple life and moved to an Island that you could only get to by boat and I went off to school and worked in healthcare until I recently retired I love your channel, reminds me of other times. Blessings and thank you - Nancy
Lemon cake of any kind is always my favorite, and this one looks especially good. I'm not a particular fan of Cool Whip, but your homemade whipped cream is right up my alley. Can't wait to make this! Thanks, Lori!
That's an egg cream beater. My grandpa had one and we would make them on Saturday evenings after supper when I would stay with them on their farm in Missouri. Wonderful cake. Take care. Sue from Michigan
You can tell your eggs are good by the rich, yellow yolks.I love lemon cake...it's my favourite flavour. My taste buds are tingling just watching you.Thank you for the recipe.I love your little mixer/whipper.
I’m so proud of myself tonight ! Made this and it is delicious. First time in my life of ever making one .Pound Cake takes a lot of time making ,have a grandson now wanting Pound Cake to be what he wants for his birthday now ... I’m good with that ,Thank you Lori !
What a stunning pound cake treat. My son loves lemon. I just love hearing your granddaughter talking in the background, melts my heart. Loved Mr. Browns reaction to tasting your yummy cake!! Many blessings to you all. I bought an old tube cake pan just to make this for my family!
Pound cake is one of my favorite cakes to bake. Leftover pound cake is delicious toasted and buttered. Or grilled, I also cube the pound cake and toast in the oven and serve like croutons on a cup of hot chocolate, coffee or over some ice cream.
This is SO CLOSE to my Grandmother's lemon pound cake recipe that I've made for decades. I bet the lard gives it a great texture. Now I've got to go try it. Love your channel!
Oh my goodness this is a wonderful pound cake. I took it to my granddaughter's to help celebrate her 11th birthday. I served it up with strawberries and whipped cream in top. Everyone loved it. It's now a keeper in our homes. Thanks for sharing it.
One thing I always wonder about these vintage recipes is how they stored things then, how are they different from now, how are the products are different from now. I agree about extracts to. They just don't taste fresh to me. I use them but they just don't taste like they use to. That little whipped cream mixer is cute! That's looks very old to me.....Love your cake cover also, that's what my grandma had and I'm 60! Should try the cake with raspberries! There is just something about raspberries and lemon!
We had a spring house. On the land there was a spring that my ancestors had built a slab over with steps down to the water running under it. They would hang things that needed to be refrigerated in the cold water. But the root cellar stayed cool enough for many things.
A friend of mine moved into an old farm house that had a cool(as in temp)room off the cellar. It was round and had circular ledges of lovely brick work for putting your jars, apples, etc. On.
I still use mother nature as a refrigerator. I can put stuff out in the fall in a cooler on the steps. I keep a lot of potatoes and fresh eggs in my basement. The problem arises in winter when it will freeze everything in the ice chest. Still my ice maker is out and I can put covered ice trays out the side door and have ice. I know people here who attach insulated boxes to their windows and use it as a refrigerator especially around the holidays. Works like a charm :)
Ms Lori, lemon is by far my favorite so I will be trying this out. (Paula Deen's lemon blossoms are SO GOOD- must try for any lemon lover!) I saw mixers like yours on etsy that said from the 1940-1950's.
Aunt Lura always brought a home made poundcake when she came to visit, back when I was a little girl. I'm pushing 70 now but this memory stays with me. What a pleasure to see you create yours! And I loved hearing your grandie piping up in the background! I have never in my life seen that old kind of mixer but it's fascinating, and looks very similar to the old type blenders...once I had one with a toggle switch just like that... It's such a pleasure to peek into your life! It feels like Home ⚘💕🌟
Another one of your recipes I have to try! Making my mouth water! I think I’ll add fresh raspberries with whip cream topping. God Bless The Brown Family and thank you. 😊
Hey Ms. Lori!! Oh my goodness, you're singing my tune with pound cake!! Then add lemon and we're shouting from the roof tops! Lol ; ) This again takes me back to my grandma's recipe. There is just something wonderful about the soft yet dense texture and the buttery taste that keeps ya coming back for more. Having that cake sitting out on the table with easy access would be dangerous territory for me. Haha wink wink ; ) I wish I had a big slice right now!!
I made this when you first posted the video last year.. absolutely one of the very BEST pound cakes I've ever made/eaten!!!! When I made it a second time, I made a lemon glaze to go on top when the cake was warm. I let it soak in.. then let the cake rest an hour.. then added more glaze - was amazingly good!! Thank you for the cake recipe, it is truly one of the best!
Anything Lemon,Lime & Orange anytime of the year 💜 my mother had one of those beaters I don’t remember much about it. Now the cake top my mom had that too 😃 Much love from Texas ♥️♥️♥️
I made this but decided since I was making the Lemon lush pie that the pound cake would be orange rather than lemon. OMG it turned out so wonderful, thank you so much for the recipe 💕
That looks so good! I just planted a lemon tree and don’t know how long it will be till we see lemons but I’ll have to make this. Please be real safe now that you are back to work by wearing your mask and washing your hands Ms. Lori. You are a favorite of mine and want to watch your videos long after you are retired!! Thanks for never disappointing!!
If somebody hasn't already told you where it's supposed to say one tablespoon baking powder you just put 1T. I'm going to save this and at the very top I'm going to put on it that the 1T means 1 tablespoon baking powder so I won't forget ! I love lemon and I love pound cake and I know I'm going to love this God bless you and thank you for your recipes
You’re channel is so nostalgic. I’m reminded of my grandparents and great-aunts from my childhood days every time I look at your bowls, etc. Thank you for the recipe!
Definitely going to try this for my strawberry shortcake come strawberry season! My cardiologist would kill me if he found out I was eating that much butter and eggs LOL Hey, you only live once! God bless!
My mother used to make a southern pound cake and we weren't allowed in the house when she was baking it because any jarring would make it fall. lol It was some good pound cake though. This one looks especially yummy because of the lemon, I so love lemon! Also loved hearing your little helper talking. So cute! I've not seen a gadget like that before, but it sure is pretty cool. Wonder what the holes are for? I hope someone knows about it and can tell you more about it Miss Lori. Well you have taken me back in time Miss Lori, that just looks amazing. Hugs, Brenda
I don't know *how* many times I heard the words, "Don't slam the door and don't walk hard cuz there is a cake in the oven" hahaha So even now to *this* very day, I say the very same thing to anyone that is in my house if I put a cake in the oven. LOL Oh the memories...... and it also goes to illustrate that if ya teach a child something then they will most likely take it with them their *entire* lives~~ Gives credence to the following Proverb~ (Proverbs 22:6) -------------> *Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it* . Bless you abundantly ~~~
@@EarthChickadee Yes, don't jar the house in anyway, shape or form. lol Yes, I would say the same too. Memories are wonderful that is for sure. And you are so right, teach a child and they will most likely take it with them their entire lives. Love Proverbs 22:6 as it is so true. Blessings to you as well!
Yes it looks delicious ...wish I had a big fat slice right now.....I just made a Disney Grill Cheese Sandwich.....and need something sweet.....this would hit the spot..... good job Lori.....

I’ve made a lemon pound cake but incorporated the blueberries within, lightly stir them in so as not to have them bleed out, and oh so yum. 🍋 🍰 🫐

What a stunning pound cake treat. My son loves lemon. I just love hearing your granddaughter talking in the background, melts my heart. Loved Mr. Browns reaction to tasting your yummy cake!! Many blessings to you all. I bought an old tube cake pan just to make this for my family!
Thank you so much! That's wonderful!
Wish there was a ♥️ button instead of just a 👍🏻. ♥️♥️♥️ to you Miss Lori! Looks delicious 😋
Oh lady, my mouth was watering during the whole video. It looked so good! Xoxoxo
Love the fresh lemon!!
So sweet your granddaughter coming in while your stirring up the cake...Look...Nini😊😊Precious ❤️
I love pound cake. Thank you so much for posting. God Bless you two. stay safe, stay well.
wow another great recipe !!
Pound cake is one of my favorite cakes to bake. Leftover pound cake is delicious toasted and buttered. Or grilled, I also cube the pound cake and toast in the oven and serve like croutons on a cup of hot chocolate, coffee or over some ice cream.
citrus zest enhances flavor. Great recipe
That is so nice hearing the family in the background! I love it.
This is SO CLOSE to my Grandmother's lemon pound cake recipe that I've made for decades. I bet the lard gives it a great texture. Now I've got to go try it. Love your channel!
Oh My making it this week... I just love watching u & Mr Brown....Sending Hugs

Oh my goodness this is a wonderful pound cake. I took it to my granddaughter's to help celebrate her 11th birthday. I served it up with strawberries and whipped cream in top. Everyone loved it. It's now a keeper in our homes. Thanks for sharing it.
YUM!!! You can NEVER beat anything lemon!!!
I can not wait to make this. Thank you for keeping and sharing the old ways
Love pound cake. The only one I remember was a hand egg mixer with a splash guard. Grams used it to make pudding and eggs.
What a neat Lil beater .Surprised how quiet it was .Gonna try that Lemon pound cake for sure .
Yummy just like my Granny's, RIP live you Granny Wilhite
Tarod Gavaskar that is so cool. I wish that was still the way of living, instead of the go go go and so high tech.
A friend of mine moved into an old farm house that had a cool(as in temp)room off the cellar. It was round and had circular ledges of lovely brick work for putting your jars, apples, etc. On.
@@tarodgavaskar129 we still have our spring house!
Love all your lemon decor. The mixer is cool.
Ms Lori, lemon is by far my favorite so I will be trying this out. (Paula Deen's lemon blossoms are SO GOOD- must try for any lemon lover!) I saw mixers like yours on etsy that said from the 1940-1950's.
Sometimes we forget about the simple recipes that are so delicious. Thanks for sharing.
This is my favorite recipe for pound cake, in fact I made one last Tuesday for our anniversary. Delicious!
Looks delicious, PEACE AND BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
My Aunt Lily used to make this ....Wow....I will give it a try...Blessings...
Whoa! Now, this is something I want!
Luscious recipe!
That looks so good.....I'm now subscribing to your channel!
Aww I love ur table with the lemons and the decoration with lemons.😍😍

Mr Brown looks like he really approves! Can smell lemon in it from this distance (FL) Awesome!!!
Love the moist texture!! 👍☕
Looks yummy! Love your little electric mixer! I just love your channel!! Holly
This was so relaxing.
My daughter and I made this cake yesterday. Wow! Thankyou! There’s a reason this recipe is still around.yummm. !!!
That looks amazing! 🍋 Also, I think that is a Dorby Electric Mixer with Measuring Jar, perhaps.
Yes, it is! Made in the 30's, love it!
You cook just like our family does. Must be a Southeren thing? LOVE watching y'all!
What a perfect summertime recipe! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Vicki...here's what I learned: T=tablespoon
t=teaspoon and C=cup
Thanks and stay blessed
💕🍰🙏🏽
This looks absolutely scrumptious, I love anything lemon 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋
I'm too old to bake now but I love to watch you bc you explain so good and the video is very good. Thank you.
I love hearing your grandies in the background :) Have an awesome week from New Zealand x
And an awesome week back at cha! From the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
CHEERS, New Zealand❣
One of my favorite cake flavors is lemon. Thanks so much for the recipe. Love y'all
You’re channel is so nostalgic. I’m reminded of my grandparents and great-aunts from my childhood days every time I look at your bowls, etc. Thank you for the recipe!
I googled your little mixer and found that it’s called egg blender mixer!! How adorable!! I can’t wait to try this recipe!
Your grandchild sounds adorable!
Baked this last night . It's delicious ! A keeper recipe .
Definitely going to try this for my strawberry shortcake come strawberry season! My cardiologist would kill me if he found out I was eating that much butter and eggs LOL Hey, you only live once! God bless!
You'll be fine if you don't eat the whole thing.. a small here and there won't hurt anything.
LOL
Oh the memories...... and it also goes to illustrate that if ya teach a child something then they will most likely take it with them their *entire* lives~~
Gives credence to the following Proverb~ (Proverbs 22:6)
-------------> *Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it* .
