    We are “youngsters” but plan to purchase a second home in the “older” area because we are purchasing the lifestyle and amenities. We want to use our golf cart to go shopping, rec centers, and church. If we buy in the new area we will mostly be in an island of homes especially when we visit. I don’t care if people ask my age because I don’t care! Lol! I want to paint, dance, relax at the pool. I love the “old” people because most are very kind and wise! ❤ Your vids are always very informative! Thanks!

      I'll be mid 50s when I move there in a couple years. I'm also looking at the older area. I like the mature trees and everything already built up. I figure there is turnover of residents for various reasons so there will be younger retirees moving up there, too.

    You are both doing such a great service doing this video.... We are late 50's and are ready to retire early. From Canada, and have lots of Florida connections... my Parents have always had a home in New Smyrna Beach.. We have wintered for a month or so each year in Salts Springs... lots of fun... but we are ready for a change. We will keep watching your videos and maybe meet you next year!!

    Medical care availability in The Villages is totally inadequate and a primary reason why I cannot move to TV. I live in a city of approximately 86,000 and we have 3 hospitals and multiple clinic options. TV has only one hospital for 140,000 elderly inhabitants. They need at least one additional huge hospital. Sad.

      Hi Cynthia! UF purchased TV hospital a couple of years ago. UF also owns a hospital in Leesburg. They are also building a third hospital now down in the newer section of TV. Hopefully it helps the burden and concerns.

    • @nf2885

      Totally Agree!! The other issue is that TV only accepts Medicare Advantage. Why is this not publicized? I keep hearing about a third hospital but I haven’t seen anything more about it. I only see a school being built in Middleton.

    🤷🏻‍♀ It could be that people were told (like we were) that you had to be 55^ to buy in TV. So instead of being offended by someone asking your age, maybe just be understanding that they could have possibly been told something untrue. We were told….and purchased a home….BELIEVING TV was a retirement 55 ^ community. Understanding that we should have done our own research and not just believed a village’s realtor, I see how we were convinced. No issues with ‘younger’ or different perspectives, just when you are told you are purchasing a home in a retirement community you might expect that.

    I'm currently 37 years old and plan on visiting the Villages this year. Since you two are residents, how would residents feel about someone in their late thirties moving there? I'm a male, childfree, and single.
    I'm currently transitioning careers and will be selling my business and going into tech, so I'll be working remotely. The best part of the Villages for me is the daily activities available and being mostly an adult-only community. I'm not exactly sure how I'll handle the humidity considering I'm from Idaho but I'm sure I'll adapt. Would residents be receptive to a younger resident or would I be a bit of an outcast? My current business is a pub and 95% of my customer base is 55+, so I have no issues having older friends. I'm very active and social and I guess I'm asking if I'd be a good fit.

    • @thevillages365

      Hi Shadow! I was 35 when I bought my home here, however I did use it as a rental and never lived here. My dad lived here, so we came for visits at that age. When my husband retired and we moved here full time, I was 48 (so a little older than you but younger than most villagers). Overall, everyone was kind and smiled. I will say that I got a couple of sideways looks from some people, but that was rare. I have mentioned in other videos that I am a tennis player. The clay courts are open to the public and we have a few younger players who play and we all love it.
      As you know, people will be people and you will always have some grumpies just because that is who they are, but I feel like overall everyone here is nice and happy and welcoming.
      You mentioned you are planning a visit. I would just try to pretend you live here. Do the activities you would like to do and see how you feel you are received. I hope you find everyone welcoming and I think you will.
      Keep us posted, and thanks for watching!

    • @TheShadowIG
      @TheShadowIG ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @The Villages 365 I appreciate the reply. I too play tennis and that was one of the things that drew me to the Villages along with the great weather which would allow me to be outside more. I was thinking of visiting during the winter to see how busy it gets or in the summer to experience the humidity.
      Is there a season or month you'd suggest to someone planning their first visit?

    • @thevillages365
      @thevillages365  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, you kind of hit both of the “tougher” seasons. If you come during the summer you will get to experience the storms and heat, but you will see that it is not very crowded and you kind of get the run of the place 😄. If you come anytime Jan-March, those are the busiest months here. You will get to see it at its busiest (Feb is the worst!) and so you may have a harder time getting into activities. We would recommend if you are thinking of coming in those months that you get something booked now. Lots of people come back each year and so the places get booked up way in advance.
      Weather-wise, we love April/May and even June isn’t too bad. September-October also perfect weather months.
      Hope that helps some!

    As a self-employed Hairstylist of 35 + years, myself, I'm curious if Erin found it difficult to leave her business & clients to work for someone else & rebuild a clientele? We bought our Villages home 2 yrs ago & rent it long term until hubby can retire as he carries our Health Ins. I'm not sure if I'll stay in the Salon business or do something totally different, preferably part-time. What do the pre-Medicare folks do for Health Ins if only working part-time or not at all? • @thevillages365

    Hi! I’m confused on the how people younger than 55 can live in TV (if another household member isn’t 55+). Comments sound like people under 55 are or plan to buy/live in TV. Is the 80/20 rule relevant to the community as a whole rather than specific to each household? Not sure I’m articulating my question properly 🥹. Anyway love you guys and appreciate your videos! The average age of new buyers is 61, not the residents of The Villages. The median age of owners is 71 years old. If you’re on the younger side, you should probably look at the newer areas.
