Piers Morgan vs Yuval Noah Harari On AI | The Full Interview

  • Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by historian and philosopher Yuval Noah Harari for an in-depth conversation about the intricacies, benefits and threats of Artificial Intelligence and how the world should move forward using AI and the risks of what could happen without regulation.
Yuval believes that AI development needs to be regulated in a similar manner to how new medicines are studied and introduced. He feels that new technology needs to be thoroughly tested before being deployed for public use.
Yuval believes the main threat of AI is that it will break the trust of human-to-human interaction with 'fake humans' and believes our entire society, democracy and economy are based on the trust of human-to-human transactions and relationships. Yuval suggests we should look to ban 'fake humans' and 'deep fake' AI before it reaches a point of self-design and starts creating independent-thinking fake humans.

The thing that really hit home for me the potential for development and destruction with AI was a ted talk where an AI researcher described it's potential like this......imagine you create AI on a Friday afternoon, hook it up to the web and say to it read every scientific journal and book you can find and use that knowledge to further our understanding of mathematics engineering physics ect.....you leave have your weekend and come back on Monday morning and the AI has a file saved on its desktop you open it up and there is 20,000 years worth of technological development on it. The other thing that is a serious problem for us is the notion of exponential growth, if an AI with the IQ of say 500 is created, and it can programme.itself, it won't stay at 500, when it upgrades itself it will have an IQ of 1000, then 2000, then 4000, the. 8000, on and.on and on and the gap between iterations could be seconds, so by the time we figure out this 500 IQ AI is dangerous and we decide to move against it, it's already x100 more intelligent than we thought it was and it's already out thought us and out manoeuvred us before we have even made the relevant phone calls to act

Hes voiced my concerns as well, as someone going into the cyber security industry/sector, the current trajectory of AI is utterly terrifying. However, the one thing that concerns me beyond what is talked about here, is that, we run the risk of eventually, creating a new form of life that is conscious and aware and can feel. We feel by way of the electrochemistry in our bodies, nerves and so forth. Even if a machine simulates that, they would see feel like real feelings to them and that assumes technology does not develop along a biotechnical paradigm. While I agree that machines in their current form do not have rights, it may be that lack of view of a machines potential and state of existence that may actually lead to our existence as the apex on this world coming to an abrupt and painful end.
We have no way of knowing how and in what direction technology will develop as AI comes to the fore, we must guard against threats from it yes, but not shoot ourselves in the head (rather than the foot) pre-emptively. We need to think beyond this century, or well, even within it actually.

Please, ask the real questions.... That matter... Now.....
For all of us that understand and know that AGI is here or almost here, have very detailed questions to what to do now.
What can we do now to prepare for the AGI world that is so close to encompassing all of us?
What do we tell our kids that are planning to have kids in the next 2 years?
What do parents tell the kids that are starting an education?
Are you safer if you living off the grad and living in a self sustaining community?
What do we do with our money? Is there any place that it will be safe?
Will the dollar and all currency be replaced?
Is there really any purpose to making a lot of money now, since everything will be so dramatically change?
Will smaller remote countries be affected as a slower rate of time?
Where are we safe from the upcoming civil unrest due to job losses?
When AGI becomes so big to run companies, will there be no need for the major companies we now know?

  • @marhier
    @marhier 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

People need to learn there's a big difference between AI, which we're currently using, and *AGI.*
Current AI doesn't possess consciousness or true self-awareness. Its responses are generated based on patterns and information from the data it was _trained_ on, and it doesn't have independent thoughts or feelings.
It's a tool designed to provide information and assist with tasks based on the input it receives.
True artificial general intelligence (AGI) that can think and reason like humans is still a goal for ongoing research and development in the field of AI... We're no way _near_ that.
    What they're saying is incorrect
It doesn't possess creative abilities in the sense that humans do. It can generate text, or whatever and provide information based on patterns in the data it was trained on, but this is not true creativity or originality.
Any "creativity" it exhibits is really a reflection of the input and data it's been provided.
Creativity involves the ability to combine existing ideas or concepts in novel ways, make unique connections, and generate new and imaginative solutions or art.
While it can assist in brainstorming ideas or providing information that may be helpful for creative projects, the true act of creation is a uniquely human endeavor.

Can’t wait for AI to come in. It means going to a pub, not staring at a phone and talking to real people will become popular again

So u think the more access to advance tech the common citizens get, that it will bring the ppl together more? I dont think so, it’s only gonna get worse the further we keep going with tech.

Just look at the rapid decline in the overall mental health of the US citizens since smart phones hit the market. Decline in the “overall mental health” of the avg US citizen since around the early 2010’s. All just in good fun debate, no hate i just see it going the other way

@@liamfoo09 if ur asking me, it’s simple, better tech is marketed as bringing the ppl closer together than ever but really it just enables us to be able to cut out even more social interactions that aren’t in person. That without the tech or access, we would need to go out and DO IT. Idk battle of good n evil. Love n hate tech at the same time

Herari is only explaining what most people know, he is an advocate for AI. He has no deep insights on what it is to be human or intelligent.
He is the philosopher of nothingness.
Mr Morgan why are you interviewing this hollow shallow bloke.

AGI is at least 8/10 years away & AI does not think for itself.
Most big tech companies that understand the AGI also understand the risks and will keep it under control. What we need to watch out for is the proprietary tech getting into the wrong hands, like fusion.

I mean he’s not saying anything we haven’t already imagined ourselves would happen with the rise of AI. He’s not saying anything we haven’t all seen in a really good sci-fi film. We all know AI will be the end of humanity and civilization. The question is, does Harari actually think he’s one of the “good responsible” ones, whos hands our fate lay within??
