It's a real curious background that Sandi came from and I think the fact that she had no experience in marketing games has actually ended up working in CIG's favor. Productions such as TNGS along with AtV, 10FTC and all the comm-link releases have made Star-Citizen easy to bring in both new backers and keep the existing backers "in the loop". Add to that the deals with Saitek and AMD and other hardware manufacturers down the line and the upcoming FPS and PU releases and we will be seeing a lot of what Sandi has been doing behind the scene pay off. If we had had a more traditional game marketing VP; I expect at this stage we would still be dealing with forum posts and tweets as opposed to the regular rich multimedia press releases across a variety of media we have now. This very hands on and open dialog with the community approach I think CIG has proved is the future in crowd-funded gaming; thanks to in no small part the work of Sandi Gardiner. So on behalf of the community - well done Sandi :)

I would add that Sandy is downplaying the marketing skills she gained from the social sphere (i.e. nighclubs). I know a folks in that industry (i.e. promoters, DJs, etc.) I can tell you that there is quite a mount of direct social interaction with clients in addition to large event planning. Which works perfectly with the very open and direct approach CIG has with their clients. Sandy is pretty well rounded.

I must say i have mixed feelings now. This is the first time i've seen Sandi talk just regularly. I've seen her over the past years on Around The 'Verse, Reverse The 'Verse, The next Great Starship, etc... But she always followed a script or said specifically what there had to be said about the game. Now i finally feel like i can properly put a personality to her face and i must say, i'm very happy! :D Keep up the good work Sandi! You're my favorite Vice President of marketing!
Actually really enjoyed this interview a little more than the interviews with the devs. It's amazing to see how things have changed from when Sandi used to do the dev interviews back in Wingman's Hangar days to now.

Sandi has always appeared pretty genuine. But after this interview, where she almost seemed... vulnerable - her true genuine character was just laid out there. Which might seem counter productive as a marketer, but to me, I wouldn't have it any other way.
