A dad who takes time to play other video games besides the one he's working on, WITH his own kids... While working on pioneering an industry changing game. Chris is simply inspiring and restores hope to many gamers out there not just for this game, but the industry itself.
Yeh that's really what I got from this video. They're comfortable together, have some lovely kids, and are moving back to England together. Nice and heartfelt, with a few CR wordings to keep the fans happy.

@@seveneternal7988 You seem to keep insisting I'm Frustrated...I can assure you I'm not at all frustrated, but appreciate your concern, and you don't need to include it in every post to me. I also have NEVER stated ANYWHERE that I HATE Star Citizen, so I'm not sure where you get that idea. I think its a poorly managed pipe dream that people put way to much faith in, and certainly finds creative means of funding the project, which to say the least, has emboldened other games that really ARE legitimate scams to become more commonplace. This project has certainly managed to generate income, enough to make 20-30 games, with very little to show for it after MANY years of development, many deadlines passed, changed, or just ignored. I'm just being PRACTICAL, not HATEFUL, and probably more stably based in reality than you and many backers of this project. I hope Star Citizen proves my skepticism wrong, but I doubt it ever will. Besides not being frustrated, I'm also not some "kiddo", I've been on the planet longer than video games were invented, and have owned tens of thousands of games through the years, and even worked in the industry in several capacities, so I speak from attained knowledge and experience, instead of just voicing some baseless opinion or wishful list of checkboxes that this project might tick off.

Good stuff, thanks for making this happen everyone. Personally, I love that Chris gives long detailed answers much better than non-sense PR speak.
You know, I have my criticisms of the project as I do for many things in life (yes I am a grumpy bugger, not yet old but no longer young), but seeing these two together always removes my doubts. He is still that wide eyed kid wanting to be Luke Skywalker full of enthusiasm, and she is his grounding and rock. There is so much misery about in the world currently, it is nice to see two people who find each other such pleasant company.

I remember in the early days of the campaign, someone started a rumor on the forums that CR and Sandi were married. It seemed like such a weird accusation at the time, and hadn't been even remotely hinted at publicly by CIG, that it was mostly met with derision and weighty arguments as to why it was so absurd. Then it turned out that they were in fact married, and they have two beautiful kids... and as you said in your comment, they are amazing together! I still wonder why it was such a secret in the beginning. I guess they thought it would look bad or something, but personally I love to see families come together to make a business work. It's so great to see them both on camera like this (not least because Sandi doesn't let him get away with ANYTHING, haha).
This is partly why I will continue to contribute to, and play both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 once it comes out. In 1991 I was introduced to Wing Commander and my first flight stick, I was 16 at the time. And I was the wide eyed kid who first felt they were in something like Star Wars. Chris made that happen. Now I'm much older, and I still love Star Wars but things like The Expanse have taken over as I've learned more about real space theories. And once again, Chris is trying to make that happen for me.
I'm sure he will struggle, falter, have issues and we'll have to deal with them. But his vision, possibly bigger than his eyes can see, is why I'll see it through.

@@zykan651 The only other head dev I can think of that does this is Warframe’s Steve Sinclair. I started Warframe years ago and only discovered Star Citizen a year ago. The thing that drew me to Warframe was Steve Sinclair talking passionately about the game. I felt the exact same thing when I first saw Chris talk about server meshing before I even backed SC. That was the thing that made me want to back the game and buy ships, CR’s passion for game development.

Also the real status is not even alpha … and what is most concerning: despite they claimed release dates and close to finished messages in SQ42 there is actually nothing to base those claims on. It was not in 2015 and still they are not a single step further to release the single player part

They bodged together an engine to quickly showcase pretty assets but that limits the project going fwd because u can't do much with such a wonky code base. Hence the project hasn't been able to scale the player count much and performance is terrible. At this stage, it's basically the WWE of game development.

They are the vanguards of technology, innovation of the WHOLE industry, being YEARS ahead anything else, with the most powerfull engine existing,
As as example, they use since YEARS ago 64 bits coordination, which Unreal Engine 5 is trying to incorporate now.
I can understand you frustration and cry because SC is way ahead anything else and its hard for you to admit the road they took was the best one to achieve all their goals, but thats the reality, SC is not only a good game, it even killed any other space sim, and the best part is that the most important stuff is still to come.
BTW:
1-Performance is good, thats why decens of thousands play it every day and why thousands buy it every single day.
2-They have scaled player count several times, even tested with 75.
3-The code base is the best in gamming, soon creating the first ever gast giant totally physicalized, totally explorable, with volumetric moving gass clouds, with a totally explorable city floating on its volumetric clouds. Everything wihout limits and withoht any kind of loading screen, with a level of scale and fidelity we wont see in any other current game, neither now neither in the future.
At this stage, Star Citizen es the Space X of gamming industry.
This is easily the best format to go forward with if '10 For the Chairman' ever came back.

Things really haven't changed much since then. Actually the flight model is worse from the first few implementations in arena commander.

On the superyacht we bought for them.
The only feature that I really care about is server meshing, and I hope that “feature creep” can be kept at bay. It seems like Chris has some glorious plans, but this game may never get finished (during our lifetime) as even my kids are now entering college. It’s been an extremely long time, and I would hope that we could just get “server meshing” completed before the end of this year and I am NOT looking forward to “death of a spaceman” or the upcoming personal inventory problems. I wish we could tackle one major problem at a time and just stay focused on getting server meshing completed FIRST above everything else. Then focus on making the game playable and fix the trading so that larger ships can actually purchase a full load of cargo and then drop off a full load of cargo, which has been completely broken since November of last year. Hopefully we can get a playable version soon. It’s good to see Sandi and Chris back, and hopefully server meshing can be completed soon (before we die of old age).

@@SanctuaryLife i think she was doing pretty ok for herself before meeting him, she was/is an actress, i dont think she'd lived a poor life before CR. - as far as gold digging aspect goes: usually energetic, visionary and 'doing' men attract women no matter how they look, its just their aura that attracts the females and i think CR does count as a successful male specimen, i.e. he gets all the girls he wants. - the money aspect i think is secondary for her.

I'm pretty sure it's just dependent on your choice of syllabic emphasis that differs between Americans and English folks. I've noticed the American developers tend to emphasize the middle of the word and the "Y" sound, but the British tend to emphasize the "O" at the beginning and they put at " i " in the middle of the word. I'd love to see an Australian have a go at it reading it off of a paper. xD does anyone know if they actually have phonetic keys of any of these words written anywhere?

I can't believe it, Chris has the same experience playing SC with his kids as I do with mine! I tell my daughter how awesome and cool the game is, and then when we start playing all she does is complain about all the bugs and wonky UI!!! So yea, we mostly play a bunch of Fortnite and other games now (most recently Raft).

Dont hold your breath even for an alpha before 2025. I love the game and support it but i just dont see sq42 being playable in the near future
