To all the people who say they have had lots of jobs but never a career (Ken hope you don’t mind me contributing here): Try reframing your thinking to what skills have I constantly been using across all jobs rather than what is my job label. So you are good at eg being (and keeping others) focussed and organized, team morale, conflict resolution, getting things done, coming up with solutions fast, or in career speak good with time management, a creative thinker, a good communicator, attentive to details, ethical (just some examples). Don’t worry that you haven’t had the same job for years (it’s more important that you can show how you can use what you have done to show suitability to the next gig). I have stopped saying I am a teacher. I say I work in education. That allows me to reinvent myself in the same field. So I guess find the sector you love and shift around within that. What do you think Ken?

Interesting! My problem is that every job I have feels like I'm back in high school which is very annoying people are so unprofessional and I just am not myself anymore it's annoying. Other then that I've had so much experience from, caregiving to janitorial and now I've landed on a dishwashing/busser position. I'm thinking this may be a great job for me because I do believe that I have ADHD so it would be perfect for me. I spent 9 hrs getting my food handlers card and enjoyed learning about food, pathogens, and the whole dishwashing and bussing aspect of it all so I have landed on a job like that. It's not too much customer interaction. Only thing I really wouldn't be good at is serving food and cooking I don't think but who knows maybe someday. Plus, I just went on a job interview and although I felt as if it went okay I don't know if I am going to get the job I feel as though I could have sold myself better and I don't think I did that great of a job but the first step was to get my food handler card which I was super excited about. I thought maybe I should work with the homeless sense most of them feel as if they can come up to me every time I seem to step outside but after care giving I want to try something new. I even thought about working in a hotel as a dishwasher/busser sense it's really not that hard of a job. One lady I worked with helped in the kitchen and did laundry on the side so I may try that to. I don't mind having to go back to school either to get more education. Like he said volunteering at a church may help so I may do that also.

A fantastic and important call, as the principle behind this (not knowing what to do) has affected me for years now. The way Ken Coleman narrowed this down into logical steps was marvellous. Also, the topic that Stephanie has chosen is difficult, but relevant to many people's lives. I took notes while watching this video, and this has forced me to ask myself some serious questions.

This really opened my eyes, I been wanting to start a podcast, a TH-cam channel, or content about gaming or things that are on the mind, but I always relied on pleasing my peers and family and it always brought me down. I really don’t know what to do with my life and I’m 27 but after watching this video it has changed a little bit of my perspective of what I want to do.

I made a call to Ken Coleman once to ask about my financial situation with my brother and how we could find a career we could do to gain a better income. They basically skipped answering my question and moved onto the next caller. Seeing this video made more sense about how to find a career I can do without floating around other fields. I wish he had answered it then! 😅

I'm actually lost. I hate my job and don't have a career. Never have had one. It's a long story. I want to quit my current job and find something different but I literally have no idea where to go or what's next for me. I feel like I don't know what I'm good at or what my strengths at. Sounds weird I know that I don't know myself better. I need major help because I want to do something I'm passionate about and that I can do well at. And not just another job I'll hate after 6 months to a year. I've never been to college. Another long story. But I know that college isn't the fix all. I've just felt since graduating high school that college wasn't for me. So I've just went from job to job to find something better and that's not worked. That's all for now. HELP

    • @kylehobkirk2902

Andrew, I am the exact same way, except in my case I did go to college, gained about $80k in debt studying a subject I have no passion for, and then got out of college and have worked about 15 different jobs across numerous different industries and hated every single one of them, and I’m currently married with a 10 month old son.
Trust me, I get it. But, Ken’s pathway to get clear is the answer. It has really helped me get out of my head and really think about direction and what problems in the world I would like to help solve. We all get caught up in this idea of getting this perfect job that satisfies every aspect of our own fulfillment but that is not the whole story and certainly not the way we out to look at it. It’s a balance of doing the work you are good at doing, for the people you love helping in a way that you love doing it. Ken is legit.

I had just started a blog a few years ago about Art (fiber Arts to start) and creating Amigurumi, and also talking about being positive as far as general well-being and following your passions, and because I got some WEIRDOS (men) coming on and commenting, I literally got scared and took it down!! Now at 59, I'm always driven to health/well-being, financial literacy, Art of all kinds (Drawing/watercolor/acrylic/gouache/Nature photography) and also plant care. Hoping I can take all, or some of this and create some kind of career before I get any older!!

I finally decided on a resturant career with all the rest of the crazies I belong there. lmao! Just got my serve food certificate and I don't think I want to do anything else. Went on an interview today and felt so dumb because I felt like I knew nothing just felt like it could have went better. The cook interviewing me seemed kind of interested but I wish I would have had some better answers. Interviews are hit or miss with me either I get the job or don't get the job. I'm very scatter brained during interviews but I would love to be a dishwasher/busser which is such an entry level job but jobs like this or the types of jobs I like.

She can use SEO words to get picked up by the algorithm. She can create post online(pinterest and Instagram) that go to her blog. And then she can have ads on her blog. Let's say she suggests women learning how to self defense and she has an article. If she has something she can promotes, she can have an affiliate link to it for when ppl purchase such item (idk clothes to wear for self defense class), mace...or whatever else

Feminism told us we could. They lied! After working for almost 30 years STRAIGHT, without stopping, I'm now a stay at home mom and homeschooling my daughters. I've NEVER been more happy and content with my life, knowing I am investing the majority of my time to my children and not strangers that will soon forget who I am. I can go back to work AFTER I raise my children.
