Highlights vs. Minnesota Twins (7.17.22)

- The Chicago White Sox ended the first half of their season with a 11-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on July 17, 2022 at Target Field.
Starting pitcher Dylan Cease recorded 8 strikeouts over 7.0 scoreless inning pitched. He threw his 500th career strikeout during the game, becoming the fastest pitcher to 500 in franchise history.
The first 4 innings were quiet, with both the Twins and White Sox keeping the other team off the board. But the White Sox broke through in the 5th inning.
A line drive by Tim Anderson drove in the first two runs of the day, giving the Sox a lead they kept through the end of the game. Andrew Vaughn tacked on another two runs with an RBI double hit into left field.
In the 7th inning the White Sox knocked home run after home run to jump to a 10-run lead. Yoán Moncada hit a 2-run home run to centerfield. At the next at-bat Andrew Vaughn hit a solo home run to left centerfield. After a single by José Abreu and a walk from Gavin Sheets, Josh Harrison hit a home run to left field for the third home run of the inning.
In the 9th inning Adam Engel added one more run in the 9th inning for a 11-0 lead over the Twins.
Pitchers Joe Kelly and José Ruiz both contributed scoreless innings to keep the Twins off the board, securing the third victory of the series for the White Sox.

@@pliskin8116 I did the math, his era since June is 0.4. he is automatic lights out its stupid. when hitters swing and miss a lot of the time its they miss by a foot.

If you had told me earlier in the season that the Sox would take 3 of 4 from a first place Minnesota Twins team in the dreaded Target Field that used to give us fans nightmares, I would call you crazy. Also to boot, 29 of 35 runs were in winning games 1, 2 & 4. 😲
Granted we are .500 now with this game in hand but this was a huge series before the All Star Break. I am so proud that this team continued to push through at all costs.
I certainly hope the momentum continues in the 2nd half starting off with a series against the Guardians.

I was really hope Gavin and Abreau would also get a homer this series. Especially sheets who kept being just short 3-4 times this series. Hopefully he pulls to RF all four games this weekend against Cleveland.

Wow, the Twins looked off this last series. I know the sox are better than their record shows, they have the talent just haven't put it to the field on a consistent basis. Be interesting how the season plays out it is definitely anyone's division. Well, not the Tigers or the Royals...but the Sox, Twins, and Guardians for sure.
The Twins are a lot better than I expected them to be and probably a lot better than most people thought. I still think the Sox have the better all around team but Minnesota is right there and Cleveland isn't far behind so it's gonna be a great second half and it's probably gonna come down to what team can get healthy and stay healthy.
I think Minnesota s pitching will eventually fail them. They do not have an ace. We have Dylan cease , dark horse for cy young, a rejuvenated Johnny Cueto, Lucas giolito, lance Lynn, and kopech? Who do the twins have? Sonny grey? I’m not that worried…also our bullpen should be better overall. Liam is still probably the most dominant closer in the league. But yes twins are good. The guardians actually worry me more. Better pitching than the twins and mayb a better lineup too….buxton is barely hitting 200 I know he has 20+ homers but still…and Correa ain’t allll that….cleavland has more weapons imo

Now, it's time to trade for Juan Soto. Even if it means trade away Eloy and Vaughn.
I wouldn't give up Eloy and Vaughn for Soto and I doubt the Sox would give them up either. Soto is gonna want 500 mil and I seriously doubt the Sox who have yet to give a player a contract worth 100 mil would make their first a 500 million dollar contract. Also the Nats would want more than that, They want a huge package of major league talent and top prospects. Whoever trades for Soto will be giving up their future.
