I don't really see as many photos from Atlanta so it's refreshing. Seeing the same photos of NYC can get boring at times. Keep killing it out there, hands down you're my favorite photographer and I always look forward to your videos.
Starsgraphy for real though haha I already have a couple planned spots to go shoot in new york lol but Atlanta all im getting is from Evan’s vlog lol
Your video has been a complete eye opener. I live in a very small town and more than finding it boring which was never the case.. I always took it for granted. I never made photos thinking oh! the same thing but I have been shooting in my town since last week and I suddenly realized there was so much to see and learn from. I felt like an alien myself and thats when it hit me and since then I have been trying to make photos as often as I can.. infact of anything... going with an open mind and guess what? i have been loving it!! Thanks for posting this video!
Preach. I used that excuse for a long time until I got out and started shooting anyway. I've fallen in love all over again with my city and photography because I just started shooting. Another great video, man.
Dude, your style of commentating over street photos is so entertaining I really can't get enough. I only know of 1 other TH-camr that does this style that I really dig but they man barely uploads. Evan with that 🔥
Always a rad day when I get an ER photo vlog
Jack Stolz same here 🙋🏼♂️
It’s easy to say that when you live in Atlanta, you have to assume it, do photography in a small village might be boring sometimes.
F. M. Challenge accepted! Haha evan ranft should go to a very small town and make bad ass photos!
Wero Visuals it could be a great video ! But it’s easy if you do it once
@@JeuneF Yeah ikr. I live in a small, rural town with very little going on. First couple days shooting here were okay, now it feels like there is nothing to shoot
@@JesusMartinezCreates not town, village! Towns are decent
I didn’t realize Atlanta’s population was so small to be honest. I thought they at least had a million people.
Great video and I was saying to myself that your b-roll shot at 2.22 was a great photo and at 4.55 you took the shot! fantastic! Love your eye for images Evan. Great walk through video and your advice is as always supreme. Thanks for the video.
💯❗️❗️❗️ I couldn’t agree with this more! When I say opportunity is everywhere people usually give me a funny look.. and that’s because many people aren’t being creative and imaginative enough while going out and creating photos.
I agree 100% i live in the small town of Bellingham, Washington and find it as my own little gem to get unique street shots no one else has, plus different from Seattle which is were i grew up and mainly shot street before moving a year ago!
Iv said it before and I'll say it again - LOVE your work! I'm from Atlanta, but live in LA. I only get home 1-2 times a year, so it's great to see ATL through your lens. Keep up the great work!
Love your street photos, please more videos like this. The cop car shot was awesome!
No idea why folks say Atlanta no good for street photography, looks great to me. I live in a small town on the south coast of England and dream of big city street photography
Being in a smaller, less vibrant location it really takes more creativity, inspiration and effort to come up with something worth taking a photo of. And starting out with photography this can seem like drawback hard to overcome 🤷🏻♀️. However I totally get your point and I like you encouraging people to still hunt for interesting shots.
Hi Evan. I love your videos and your photos. I usually get down to the ATL about twice every year. I love the city and your street photos are awesome. Thank you for sharing.
I have never much been into street photography and don't really care for big cities but I think your message in this video was a great one, regardless of the genre someone practices. Having said earlier I don't really enjoy street photography, I always find your images compelling and interesting. The other comment I'd offer is on the story telling aspect of photography. We all talk about it and try to relate it to what we shoot but your photos make the story telling concept much more obvious and easier to understand. Maybe I'll give street photography a try at some point but your videos often provide me things to think about that make me a better landscape photographer. I enjoy your channel.
Thanks Evan that’s been my struggle of not wanting to go out and shoot..I think I live in a boring place and no one would like the pictures and all I’m doing in the end is hurting myself because I’m not practicing. Really good advice!
I love love love that you live and photograph Atlanta. Honestly enough of the big cities. You inspire me to photograph my city more.
As someone that grew up in Atlanta, This message hits home to me. Love that bridge shot! Charlotte, NC (where I live) isn’t super exciting, but I definitely make the most of it.
Thank you for making this video. Needed the push. Live an hour away from any (more interesting) city but this video got me pumped to get out an shoot either way. Ur awesome Evan!
Hjalmar Gertsson shoot landscape!?!?
@@JesusMartinezCreates Its a very flat landscape. have gotten some good images off of it but i feel like i want to get better at street photography and everything that comes with it. just a personal goal really, like Evan :D
Evan, from subbing at under 30k to now your progression is amazing to see. Inspiring in fact. Thank you for continuing to progress. It makes .r to want to make more. Keep doing what you are doing buddy and one day you are in London is love to have a coffee and shoot.
*me
The street art at the end of your video is pretty sweet.
Like your thought process on the photo vlog & speaking truth on how you are the deciding factor on the work you produce, not where you live. Thanks!
Super content, B roll and especially your play-by-play of your shooting at night. Keep doing it!
I like your video style man! cool to tell a story in different places makes it really entertaining
Man. I never really thought of Atlanta as being an option for street photography. This definitely made me want to get out more often. That hotel shot, and the zig zag crosswalk shot were awesome! I really want to shoot around The Fox on a night when there's a production.
You’re 100% spot on about this subject. Thanks for sharing Evan 👌🏼💙
Love this bro! You’ve talked about this before and it changed my whole idea about street photography where I lived. Appreciate the advice and motivation by dude ✊🏽
I just want to say that I get the most photography inspiration and motivation right here, on your channel. Keep going and keep others, like me, going :)
Great vlog. One of the best lately. Love all of the motivation!!
GREAT inspiration Evan!!! Thanks for the kick in the butt -- going out today in my Boring city and see creatively -- but maybe travel a little farther south and go to downtown Dallas
(my excuse is the traffic ---- but no pain no gain!) Thanks for this video!
I love that you have huge hometown pride. More people need to have that outlook.
So much inspiration packed into one video!
i love it when it rains... everything looks more beautiful..
GilbertTV yes! Bring extra socks though 😂
Hey man. I just found your videos a little while back and I love them. I'm also a local photographer and filmmaker in Atlanta. I've really been more of a hobbyist but I'm thinking about changing it. Your videos are definitely inspiring me to get out there and I wanted you to know that I appreciate the motivation.
Thanks man, I needed to hear that, I've been down on myself lately and this picked me up, universal truth ✊🏻
I love so much about you and your content bro! You’re patriot AF which is dope and your content is informative and creative! Very easy to watch and I look forward to the new vid weekly. Cheers bro!
You are so awesome, I get motivated when watching your videos.
I get ya! There’s a possibility that I may not get the shot if no one walks through the scene, but I definitely 100% won’t get the shot if I’m not there to take it.
I think there’s also familiarity if place thing; for example I think of our small rural town as boring as a wet paper bag because I just know it so well....but I bet you if you came to visit us you’d be filling memory cards all day long and get at least two videos out of it 😂
Andy Smart thats the thing though! What you might find normal others find it really weird. One example, I grew up in mexico and there is a guy who would drive his van at 4pm every single day selling tamales out of his van. To me that was normal, until I moved to the Unites States and realized theres no one selling tameles out of their car in my neighborhood hahaha that would be a great picture because people elsewhere will be like,”wth they sell tamales out of a van” 😂 I think I made my point ✌🏼
Interesting point. On Facebook I am friends with many photographers in what we might call "exotic locales," such as India. The oddness of the clothing, colors, street scenes seem totally amazing in their photos. But I'm always thinking- For someone in India, this is just normal, everyday, dull, mundane, stuff.
I live about 2 hours south of you in Columbus and there is plenty of stuff to shoot around here, great message man.
Oh man, I just love to watch your videos, always inspiring :) I recently updated my camera to one I was dreaming to get (like a week ago) but I have to work on my final project all day and night. Quite a shame because after seeing your video I am even more pumped to just grab my new camera and shoot. Thanks mate!
Excellent video as always. Keep up the work. I can't wait for the next photo vlog! Also 100% awesome advice.
Interesting topic and dope photos... to prove your point you should find some small old town you've never been to somewhere in Georgia and see what you can come up with!
The best way to do boring cities is to find a good place you like as your backdrop/environment, then just sit and wait. Eventually a person will walk by, or drive by, and you'll get the shot. I mean if someone interesting comes by, they'll be interesting no matter where you would have seen them, but you'll also have the advantage having your background just the way you want it. Sometimes the people don't need to be interesting, sometimes you just need a silhouette or people to make the shot look more alive. The location you take your shot should always be the first priority.
Great video, and oh so true. Great photos can be taken anywhere in any town or city. Photos are like luck, in that you create your own luck.
Yeah, I feel the same way. Living in a "boring" city makes you think more creatively .
first off love the vids!!! you should make a video using beginners camera like a canon T5i to show viewers they can make great photos with an inexpensive camera. I think it would be a great vlog!
This video was exactly what I needed. Damn. I found you by chance and definitely gotta subscribe. Loving the message, the lesson, and of course the work!
Some wise words you're speaking there, great photo vlog as usual! :)
The Sinn on your wrist is so cool!
Thanks for the amazing advice really inspired me to shoot more in the small town i live in!
I always did wonder how you were able to be creative in the city of Atlanta when you shoot. Well, your doing something right because I'm suscribed, watching and commenting! LoL 📷😎
Street photography is the art of capturing the human experience or condition. I live in a small town, and I absolutely despise this town and how small it is. Even with that in mind, there is something poetic about photographing someone’s story in a way that may never have been told without the photos. Whether it be the old run down factory in the middle of town, or the town newspaper on somebody’s porch, there is a story already being told, waiting for someone to capture. Maybe I’m just tryin to make myself feel less like I’m tapped here. Idk. Lol.
Very cool! More and better street photography is my 2019 mission. Glad I stumbled on your channel. Nice vibe and now to go through some of your older content. Liked and subbed!
You are right, thanks
Awesome video Evan!
Nice, love the talk throughs while you're shooting.
Well said, love your perspective on this. Great video as always.
I honestly look forward to these photo vlogs
This is the best! Thank you for your awesome advice!
We like to use the expression : Thinking in solutions. Where others think in problems.
Keep such videos coming Evan....love your videos and have learnt so much from you.....👍👍
I like to capture motion so the one with the cop car was my favourite. Great night vlog!
Where were you at when you ended the video? Might have to go visit those painted walls in the alley there
"Makin lemonade out of the lemon you have" 👍 good video..
Yes to more black and white.
Great video, really like that commenting. I like to go out at these kind of days too, keep inspirering ✌🏼 greetings from Frankfurt
Joshua Kern aye really appreciate the words and you watching! 🙏
München hier XD🙋🏾♂️
Evan! I'n in Minneapolis and no, it's not NYC or Chicago, but I make the most that it has to offer. It's great! I shoot overcast, rainy and early morning but I see you shoot at night a lot. Something I have been wondering is if you've had any issues of safety strolling around the city at night.. any interesting stories or tips?
Well gotta say Atlanta looks awesome when compared to our 30 000 inhabitant town :D still going to take the best out of it!
always telling me what I need to hear. ❣️
The slow white border made me really anxious for some reason.
Preach brother!
Hey Bro, you ever tried shooting at Marietta Square? Pretty old school feel to it, especially during sun set. I love seeing your vids, I miss ATL. I plan to visit back after being stationed in Hawaii.
I live in Orlando, Fl. Gets quite boring here, the theme parks and tourist attractions such are so worn out and overdone. I believe in your philosophy 100%, this forces you to actually become more creative.
Evan can u also keep mentioning the camera settings when u take the photos...that would be really useful. love ur vlogs, keep inspiring...
Great video !! Love the colour grading 🙏🏻
Yo Evan I was wondering when will you ever give yourself a 5star rating for your shots .... I mean that was some heat right there and you gave yourself 3.5 stars
Exactly!
Like most artists, he’s very hard on himself. It’s never good enough for us.
True true! I get some people telling me Im good yet I know there is so much to learn and know the real struggles behind the camera haha
always giving himself room to improve.
ATL baby !!!! I used to work at some Tattoo shops out there an awesome area kill it !!!!
I agree, where you live might not as interesting as a big city. I live in small city, but three or four times a week at different times of the day I walk the same route, mainly only with my iPhone camera because I have just left work, but different images can be achieved most of the time. I do also believe the phrase “the best camera is the one you have with you”! Hence the iPhone 😄
Where I live is very hard to get good shots most the time. I need to get into town some time and shoot, I think I have a few ideas.
I'm back in 2018. Still Rocking!
Thank you sir . great content
Super inspiring ! Thanks a lot bro , really like your vlogs :)
Another great vlog, thank you 👌🏾
Solid advice!
Love you Videos. Greeting from South Germany
Evan coming in HARD with that inspiration! 🔥 ✊🏼
Yo this is super applicable to me because in my latest video I was just talking about how I can’t shoot much around my area lol.
Funny thing is, your TH-cam channel and photography has made me want to check Atlantic on a photo trip.🤷🏾♂️ Lemonade!
Creative genius is all in the mind not the gear, location or skill.
You got some bangers that night, bro.
Good stuff!
Loving that hotel shot bro...Just got back from Chicago, would definitely visit Atlanta one day, for now it's Christmas in the Gloucestershire countryside (no street photo's happening here!) Haha!
Your hair is awesome. Color and cut.
I always try to do this when taking photos, because tbh the area I live in is very bland. But I try to make the boring seem interesting.
You gotta come through Savannah. Lot of potential here.
This was dope. Yup
Yo Evan, I was wondering if you could put up a list of your favorite songs you use in your videos since they are damn relaxing!
soooooo inspiring man.
Just had this thought today, cold 365 days of the week but no snow or rain, just clouds and flat light. Only people dressed in black or dark blur colors looking at their phones and when I do take a shot of one they always get pissed of and want me to delete it. I’ve legit taken 30-50 close up photos of people in my city and about 80% of the time i’m confronted. Sigh...guess I’ll just have to take my ass somewhere else to get some good street photos.
