    From old school surf music, all the way through to modern heavy metal, the Baritone Guitar shows up throughout! In essence a Baritone guitar is a guitar with a longer scale length (neck) to accommodate the tension of thicker strings, which allows you to tune to a lower pitch! traditionally Baritone guitars are tuned B to B, but care used quite often in A standard or C standard tuning!
    The baritone guitar is often used by musicians of all stylistic backgrounds looking to replace or augment sounds produced by more conventional instruments or simply to add a new sound that is both familiar and strikingly fresh!

    Baritone guitars are just guitars with long necks meant to be tuned to B standard (for those who wont watch the video)

    I was thinking about getting a baritone for the longest time, but decided against it. Instead I use a pitch shifter that works well all the way down to B standard. So I can learn any song between E and B tuning essentially.

    That was really well explained. Thanks for not getting stuck in a specific genre of music. Having a surfer style of pedal would have been a nice touch but I am in. A baratone is a new must. Thanks for the entertaining lesson and for sharing your enthusiasm for sound.

    This was a super helpful video. I been looking at the Squier Paranormal Cabronita Baritone and trying to decide whether I should be one or not. You make a great case for adding one to my guitar clan. Thanks for your input, you are a trusted channel and host.

      Totally add it. I have a DIY version: a walnut and spalted maple tele thinline with P90s that I put 12-56 strings (third wound) on and tuned down to C. I couldn’t go the last half step to B because it’s still 25.5” scale. It fills lots of roles and is ridiculously fun and beautiful, especially with octave fuzz or vibrato.

    • @hyrumjensen4712

      If you increase the string gauge to 12-56 (wound third) you can tune a Fender 25.5” scale guitar down to C standard. I love mine and got the idea from Madison Cunningham who plays a Jazzmaster in C standard.

  • @ThatBaritoneGuitarGuy
    @ThatBaritoneGuitarGuy ปีที่แล้ว

    Why would you want a baritone? I always describe baritones as a 6-string designed for 7-string or 8-string tuning. If you want to play in the same tuning as a 7 or 8, especially if you play with someone who is playing a 7 or 8, but you ONLY play 6-strings, a baritone is how you do that. To so kindly quote The Bunn, "Baritones are a whole bunch longer for tuning a whole bunch lower."
    I have a Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI, and I treat it like a baritone Jaguar. I also have a Vintage Modified Baritone Jazzmaster, and I treat it like a baritone as well. They both are the same 30" scale length, but I use them for Drop E and Drop G.
    I also have a PRS SE 277, and they are phenomenal for Drop A. Just make sure to track down a Korean-made, so it is actually playable, right out of the box. (I had to return every Indonesian-made SE I ever bought because they all had broken hardware.)
