I wouldn't say the mining lance is worthless, its pretty useful for mining with larger ships because of that 2km range (as opposed to the 500m range of a standard laser)
The range is the exact reason I am getting it. The 1500 increase in mining range (and damage) makes a very big difference in how fast you can mine resources. It is not intended for combat, but a last resort. Make those limpets work harder! o7
@@CMDRunematti yes. Size matters. To be the most efficient, don't use the mining Lance. They cause overheating, only knock off small chunks. They aren't worth the extra range. Basically constant harassment outside of your own systems, and you have to be careful who you kill while bounty hunting, make sure they aren't also aligned to your PP, even if they are wanted. It ruined a couple of CGs for me. But the prismatics are worth it.
Generally speaking, but Prismatics + Booster = Even stronger. They come at an increased weight. You can have shields that go down easily and come back up quickly, shields that go down medium speed and come back at medium speed, or shields that are hard to break but come back up slowly (rebooting helps here). No, as the APAs are lower damage than the standard PAs so in some ways they don't get used as much as you might think. That said if you're trying to get into PvP get out of that Conda, one of the worst ships for PvP in the game - if you have to go big go Vette otherwise get a medium class like a Chieftain, FAS, FDL or even the new Krait. Who would choose to use a mining laser for combat in the first place - and then claim that it's 'completely useless'? What sense does that make? It's the same as trying to use a Pacifier Cannon for mining, and concluding that it's useless too....
Seems you've made my point for me - as one of the points of the lance is you can use it for both, where you absolutely can no use a pacifier for mining. That's why it's pretty useless - now that said it's actually fairly good for mining given the next range (2k vs. 500m) but for the intended use of combat it's worthless (that said I have killed a few commanders with 2 on a Sidewinder which was pretty funny)
Nope, not at all - the only difference is combat damage. And honestly you'd never use small mining lasers on a "real" mining ship. That said I do run 2 of these on my mining Python as I spent a week to get them so damn it I'm going to use them. But they really are totally and completely worthless.
They are extremely useful for a highly specific build and playstyle Mining lances have a 2 km range, which is 4 times the normal mining laser range. So if you are in to mapping Resource Extraction Sites (which most full time miners do), this laser will enable you to chip fragments and thus prospect asteroids at a very long range and hence you can map an entire RES within short time. If interested, search for the DBX speed prospecting build on the miners subreddit wiki (which should also features a TH-cam with a demonstration)
I use the mining lances for material farming as they have superior range, also I can fit 3 of them (havnt tried 4 yet) on my python and use them without depleting the distro, meaning I can check rocks before prospecting.

The very first power play weapon I unlocked was the Cytoscrambler. Almost completely useless before engineering. It left such a bad taste in my mouth I quit power play for a while.
Content is good. You however made an error with winters pulse disruptor. It is not exactl y like scramble spectrum. It's targeted and not random. The disruptor has a small chance to malfunction the specific module it hits. If it just hits hull it will not cause malfunctions.
Ah, thanks for the correction - I understood it was the same but if you sub targeted modules it would do specific damage. I'll admit it's the only weapon I couldn't get access to as I'm currently pledged for it, hence no screen shot of it's stats.
Dispersal Field scrambles gimbals and turrets, dazzle shell "reduces sensor acuity", afaik that simply reduces their range It takes a full hammer burst to cancel high tier banks, it also takes several round from regular rails. mining lance is the top of the line mining. it beenin a lousy weapon? FOOLS!! who in there right mind would use it exclusively for that 2.2k range on a M-lazer chops 20-30% of a rock befor you even get in range with the other ones to finish it off and thats just 4 of the things!
Incorrect Zarmina Torvals Mining Lance are proberly the best equipment in the game i would even consider it being more usefull than Collector limpet. Obviously you dont spend much time farming/mining.
Such a shame that these trinkets don't STAY unlocked when you move on. You can't predict which sizes and how many of each of these modules you'll want later so it's a bit of a downside there for powerplay. That's what is keeping me from pledging. Seems a huge grind only to need to re-grind it later.
Oh man, don't let that stop you from getting otherwise great modules. Now that we have storage it's easy - personally I buy either 6 or 10 of the module, depending on what it is. For Prismatics I bought 1 size 7 and 8 then 2 of every other size. I do also own 2 T10s and 2 Gunships that are only used as storage (over 650 engineered modules in my fleet)
Well it depends on your goals. The prismatic shields are very popular but as they are very expensive in class 7 and 8 you'll need $400m credits to buy and store them all. Enforcer cannons are amazing but rather niche as they are a fixed class 1 mulitcannon. Personally I generally recommend the Packhouds first as they are just a ton of fun to use and are VERY effective in both PvE and PvP.
The mining lance is NOT completely worthless. FFS. It has 4x the range of a normal mining laser and if you only think of it in terms of "weapon" you're really missing the point. Ecample: Cutter is 200m long. Regular mining laser has a range limit of 500m. You have to put your nose 300m from a rock to hit it. Or, you could use one of the best mining tools in the game, the lance, and mine from 1800m away and be clearing out a second rock while your limpets are cleaning up from the first.
The Mining Lance sucks big time, any other mining laser performs better also please take a look at where the hardpoints are placed ina Cutter you idiot, they are "IN THE NOSE" not on the tail, hopeless noobs.
Much better than other videos u made. Not explanatory too fast not explanatory... this one is good but u give for granted the whole faction and powerplay part which i ignore. I am exigent .. i wish u made the noobs part clear before telling all these things.
This isn't a video for noobs - this is a more advanced part of the game for later-stage players. Stick to the in-game tutorials for now then to my playlist for brand new commanders. After a few hundred hours come back and things will make more sense.
I am tired with this game... there should be some goal and purpose of playing - for example what you get the permit to the System better missions (more paid, more interesting and complex?) should appeear.... I am doing same things for all the time and cannot play it anymore... And this funny moments when you cannot land on Earth-like worlds, Mars-like.... omg.
My advice is this - make your own fun. Elite isn't going to lead you through anything so find a role and play it. Are you a trader? Miner? Explorer? Maybe bounty hunter or pirate. Find a player group. If you haven't visited a nebula go. If you haven't seen a geyser find one. There is a stunning amount of content out there, you just have to make up the story and find it.
Not sure how I glossed over them any more than any other power play module. Sure, they are a good module but they are used far less often in the PvP community than bi-weaves given their extremely slow regen time. I'd never suggest a pilot go for them as their first PP module, not only due to the slow regen but the extremely high cost given you'll want to buy and store all of them. If you'd like to post a link to your detailed tutorial on them please feel free and I'll happily approve it.
I wouldn't say they're bad for PvP on bigger ships given the insane regen time of the higher class shield generation... most ships at that point are popping SCBs to keep the bubble from bursting, because it will hurt no matter what. Also some haul tanks use them for extra hit points. It all depends on your play-style. In general for trade they are great to have, because you can keep your highest module-slot free for more cargo when you're doing what Elite was actually made for... grind grind grind grind grind
I really like the look of those packhound missiles just because I can live out my Macross missile massacre fantasies

I use my HOTAS to "fly" the camera suit just like I would fly my ship - once you get all the bindings down it's pretty easy and really nice actually.
six of each? thats going to be about 2E9 cc for prismatic then. I think I will stay with one of each besides the fun weapons
You always say the cons of being pledged is minimal. But what is it?
Enemy ships and players pledged to different factions might attack you more often
Im doing a Alliance Chieftman build but idk wich PPM should i grab cuz im using shield reinforcement and multicannons also beamlasers most of times i like to fight close and obviously i take frontal damage so was thinking abour the prismatic shield but that multicannons seems cool but idk if its worth it, can someone help me with that?
The mining lance is useless? My mining Type-10 with 9 x Mining Lances begs to differ. Yeah, it's overkill, but I enjoy it.
Do the modus stay unlocked if you change power?
No, they do not - you have to buy all you'll need and toss them in storage. I always buy 6 of each module (and 2 of each prismatic shield size)
CMDR Exigeous thanks!
Are the mining lasers maybe good for depleting meteorites faster?
Thinking about the same, then it would make sense
Nope, not at all - the only difference is combat damage. And honestly you'd never use small mining lasers on a "real" mining ship. That said I do run 2 of these on my mining Python as I spent a week to get them so damn it I'm going to use them. But they really are totally and completely worthless.
They are extremely useful for a highly specific build and playstyle
Mining lances have a 2 km range, which is 4 times the normal mining laser range.
Daniel Drake in that case you might be interested in the following: 38 Lyncis planet 4 A-ring (inner one) has arsenic as rare drop (the 3-2-1 rule for g1-g2-g3 mats)
it seems like most of these rewards are mostly focused on combat, not much for miners, traders, explorers.
Not really fussed with any of these. Would have been better if there were more sizes + gimballed/turret options.
And here i was afraid that you made an Aprils joke video xd. I was half expecting something like Sandro saying "Oh boy" every second...
Yeah, honestly I tried to come up with one for a few days but just couldn't think of anything that would have been good - I already used the Hutton joke so that was sorta out. I considered doing a mock 3.1 update with the things we really want: simple C&P, bug fixes, SRV multicrew, bug fixes, planetary navigation markers, bug fixes, oh and did I mention bug fixes?
Do not forget about bug fixes and a cg in which we are required to give up all of our credits to gain less credits :3. But still, that would be interesting ^ ^.
Still a great video of course!
I'm glad you didn't. April fools on the internet has become increasingly irritating and I subscribed to your channel precisely because your videos are direct, to the point and succinct. Keep up the good work CMDR.
powering playful
Thank you sir
The very first power play weapon I unlocked was the Cytoscrambler. Almost completely useless before engineering. It left such a bad taste in my mouth I quit power play for a while.
Damn, that's a shame - yeah, time to get some good ones.
Why are so many of the big names Irish?
I know this is an old vid but you're so wrong about the mining lance.
Dispersal Field scrambles gimbals and turrets, dazzle shell "reduces sensor acuity", afaik that simply reduces their range
It takes a full hammer burst to cancel high tier banks, it also takes several round from regular rails. Otherwise you'll be reducing a bank's effect by a lower amount
Retributors are just sad th-cam.com/video/of2fpNRCwSk/w-d-xo.html
Damnit - I knew with as technical as this one was I was going to screw up something - thanks and sorry I said Dazzle when I meant Dispersal ;-)
mining lance is the top of the line mining. it beenin a lousy weapon? FOOLS!! who in there right mind would use it exclusively for that 2.2k range on a M-lazer chops 20-30% of a rock befor you even get in range with the other ones to finish it off and thats just 4 of the things!
Passenger missions bring in money but shit I already have a full time job I wonder if there is a faster way to make money?
At the moment nope, at around $100M/hr it's the most efficient right now.
@@Exigeous
Thanks for heads-up then again I'm still an FNG to this game
Etc size does all this shit come in
Incorrect Zarmina Torvals Mining Lance are proberly the best equipment in the game i would even consider it being more usefull than Collector limpet. Obviously you dont spend much time farming/mining.
Power play modules will be temporarily removed from the game.
i feel like i wont use any of these..
why are most of these weapons useless? save our grinding time? thanks
They were added 5 years ago before engineering existed.
Is this video still relevant in 2023?
Yes. Nothing about any of these modules has changed.
your voice is just 5/5
Such a shame that these trinkets don't STAY unlocked when you move on.
Thanks for the encouragement CMDR. It's still on my to-do list. Which would you recommend to go for first?
Well it depends on your goals. The prismatic shields are very popular but as they are very expensive in class 7 and 8 you'll need $400m credits to buy and store them all. Enforcer cannons are amazing but rather niche as they are a fixed class 1 mulitcannon. Personally I generally recommend the Packhouds first as they are just a ton of fun to use and are VERY effective in both PvE and PvP.
Thanks :-)
The only thing a T10 is good for
The mining lance is NOT completely worthless.
You should only be allowed 1 Power Play module-
Just kinda immersion/lore breaking for someone to have support from so many different powers-
And make the modules to worth the time as from what i seen in this video there is no reason to go for any of these as the "normal" stuff is better.
FIRST
Says the douche.....
Lol the pronunciation of all the names is so bad. ArCHon Delaine(y), Arissa Lav'y Duval. This guy is definitely an American haha
Just glosses over Prismatics as if they were a trinket at a gas station.
