    Fantastic video dear SVK. Simply superb. A true to heart tips indeed for Watch makers around the world. I loved how you set the hands which usually is a tensed task for me. Bravo!
    Question - For certain few countries like India, Pakistan and parts of Australia there is a need to set 1/2 hour increments for GMT. Can we at all set that in this watch or in any watch? Please help respond to my question. Any workaround for this like having a movable outer bezel? Thanks a million!

      Hi, thanks for the comment! You’d need one with a rotating bezel to also have the half hour increments, but it wouldn’t be so easy to use/read I think. Probably not ideal for those settings

      @ You are welcome. Thanks a lot SVK. Any watches suggestion you can make if you know it? This usually is takes about maintaining a 3rd time zone or something, right?

    Could one use an OEM Alpinist dial from the SBDC091 or SPB197 for instance?

    How's the lume compared to the oem seiko dial?

    • @svkwatches
      @svkwatches  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It does have some very small lume pips around the edge which glow up well, but they are small. The Namoki lume on the hands is good, near seiko level - I almost pair them with a seiko GMT hand initially and the lume was pretty equal, but chose the simpler arrow design in the end

    • @edwards4409
      @edwards4409 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @svkwatches I see, so the dial lume isn't as strong al the oem alpinist right?

    • @svkwatches
      @svkwatches  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No dial would ever match original seiko lume, so the standard would be the stronger yes

      @@svkwatches you can get lume even brighter than seiko, you just have to mix the materials yourself, it's not an easy thing to do, but I think you can actually do it, seems like you have all the watchmaking skills needed, it's just a matter of getting the dial without lume first, or removing the old and putting new mix. In any case its not a super difficult job, just needs few time to get the right mix ratio and then to learn how to apply the lume on the hour markers and the hands. Good luck and hopefully we see a video about this soon from you.

    Stupid question, so is the second hand synced with the minute hand? Wouldn't you have to line them up for them all to be synced up? You put the second hand anywhere.. how do you know that when the second hand goes past 12 the minute hand will change? As I said..I'm sure this is a stupid question..but I am not sure why.

    • @Yoshikaable
      @Yoshikaable 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It should be lined up to midnight as the date rolls over.

      @@mixodorians12 you know I’ve never actually considered that, you do have a point, in theory I should be setting the seconds, mins, hrs and GMT exactly at 12 together. If I’m setting the seconds at a random position then the minute hand could be half a minute ahead or behind where it’s supposed to be on the dial. However, in a few years of doing this I’ve never noticed an issue, I think given the level of accuracy (-/+15s approx per day) it’s not something I’d consider too important, there’s usually some slop in the hands too. But I might actually test this out for a future video, thanks for the comment!

      The seconds hand can realign when you set the time… stop the watch with the seconds hand at 12, then make sure your minute hand is bang on any minute, and it’ll roll over exactly, doesn’t matter where you initially set the seconds hand, unless it’s a non-hacking movement.
