Chapter ring is probably made of brass and plated with chrome or nickel. Chrome plating on brass increases its natural durability, giving it impact and corrosion resistance with a shiny look. Hence the yellow started to show when you sanded it. Brass is also used for making most dials.
I've built one of those and they're great. I settled on an Uncle Straps waffle and I wear it a lot. You're right too about the end links. Nice to have. It's adorable though that you mentioned the waterproof seal of the $36 Chinese case. Made my day! Great channel though. Really enjoy your videos!
Tip from a goldsmith, when doing a brushed finish, use a wooden or plastic ruler to slide it alongside. If the side touching the ruler will be visible then put some kapton tape (what rolex use) or masking tape to stop it getting marked. It makes a noticeable difference
I've hunted down a grey dial, hands, stem, nh35, and this case with polished chapter ring (I actually like it! I skipped on the bracelet) and it came to just over £110 all from AE. Bargain. I'm looking forward to building it. Thank you for the inspo 😊
Made a 62 mas with this case and grey dial about 6 weeks ago. Found myself wearing it on a tropical silicone strap for most of my two week cruise to the Caribbean. I did not test the 30bar water resistance but it looked good in the blue Caribbean surf.
Really sweet little budget case. Bravo! Top Notch! Thanks for sharing. By the way, I just noticed you're coming up on 10K subs ... congrats in advance 😎👍🏼
Good vid, bloopers and all. You have a great personality and screen presence, you should do other kinds of vids too; clothes, accessories, cars bikes motos, food, travel.
Love your honesty here, I've had to start over on this or that due to a scratch or dust, or trying another part and waiting another 3 weeks for AliX (here in USA). BUT Tokeilab and CrystalTimes do offer us 3-day shipping, so that's pretty nice. My related gripe here is the MM300 & 62MAS conversion cases being sold while not offering a matching bracelet (out of stock) or if there is one it is branded (Namoki)! Great overview and process here and thanks.
I purchased this case a few months back. Also got the polished chapter ring by accident. It bothers me every time i wear it. Great idea painting it. I am going to give it a try. Thanks!
Hi Dan, it's been a while.. I missed your new video for a long time. I love how you talk and your expression. I want to see you more from another new videos. It doesn't need to be always about watch, I just want see you in video. Cheers!
Underrated channel. Wish you posted more often. Blame it on the shipping time 😂 🇨🇳. But seriously, great channel for us in the mod community. Cheers man 🍻
the blacked chapter ring really pops it up a level. I have a san martin watch like this which you're making me want to go and look at again and see why i dont like it as much as i should.
Brushed chapter ring would look the best. Also, if you want to use paint. Try an airbrush with paint that has been thinned out massively. You then use more coats. this will give you exactly the look you were going for.
I just built one. I wore it for the entire day with the bracelet. I didn’t have any issues with the fitment. I think it felt quite nice actually. But I do have a 7.5” wrist.
Guys just a tip on case backs I’ve recently did one similar but I got the circular brushing effect by supergluing the case back on a angle grinder. Afterwards I soaked the case back in acetone to get it off, and bang looks soo factory!! Tc and Jesus bless you.
Another great video. Planning my first build... super excited, but the one thing that scares me the most is stem cutting. Have you done any videos on stem cutting ? Would love to see it. Thank you
Although I have included stem cutting in some of my videos, I haven't done an exclusive stem cutting video. Mostly because I'm not very good at it. I have trouble myself getting them right, and often cut a stem or two too short. My advice would be, have some spares (you can get stems cheaply on AliExpress) and go slow with it, better to cut it too long and need to file off some more material than to cut it too short.
That's my 2017 62Mas Build in an MM300 style SKX conversion case. It has an SPB051 dial. I built it a few years ago in the video "The Big Swap" on my channel.
Well done you answered my question with regard to the chapter in on these type of cases. May be the base metal is brass? Will a skx007 stainless steel chapter ring fit i wonder? Thanks
Sounds like you`re a bit rusty mate! All I can say for Ali cases is that, you get what you pay for. Don't expect much, and sometimes you get surprised. Great for dials and hands though. I stick to DLW and Namoki for cases and bracelets.
Hey, I bought a homage with the same case. Can you please, please help me find a jubilee that fits properly? I’m not 100% sure if uncle seiko and others will fit because the case isn’t 100% like a 62mas. I just know it’s 20mm lug width but I would love to find one that leaves no gap
Hi there! This case is not the SPB143 case but more like the SJE093 case right? I mean the much more expensive "original" 62MAS reissue. The "62MAS" nickname confuses me because it's used for both SPB143 and SJE093.
Great video!! Do you know if that dial will also fit the 38mm case? I'd like to do a similar build in the smaller case size. There doesn't seem to be a lot of size reference info on the namoki or weezmods websites.
This Namoki 38mm 62mas case: www.namokimods.com/en-gb/products/nmk927-62mas-skx013-watch-case-brushed-finish?_pos=10&_sid=a36fe8e2d&_ss=r&ref=itsanotherwatchYT As far as I'm aware, their cases fit the standard 28.5mm dials just like the one i've used here. So it being a smaller case, should just meet up with the edge of the dial. It will pretty much look the same but without the redundant chapter ring space. (this is the look I would go with ideally, but I wanted to test out this cheap case for this video)
@@ItsAnotherWatch I was hoping that was the case that the same dial would fit, but I wasn't sure about the length of the hands either. But in your video it does look like the dial and hands have enough extra space to fit the smaller case. I'll be attempting this build over the next few weeks. Thanks for the info!!
@@jcfredelucesrn I ended up using a Seestern 62mas 38mm case because I couldn't find anything else with the correct dimensions. I swapped out the movement, dial and hands, and it came out looking great for about $200 for everything.
I finished a type of grand seiko. but between the chapter ring and the dial there is a small space in between . the dial fits properly, so is the chapter ring. any advise on this.
I would very much like to see a video from you when you make or order a dial with some unique logo. how do you solve this problem? I really like your work, I would like to do this too!
hey @ItsAnotherWatch , Good to see you again posting a video mate! The watch looks stunning , as you said a bargain! might go for it myself. Quick Q, what size clasp should fit that bracelet?
I measured the inner width of the clasp as 18mm and the outer as 20mm. When looking at listings on AliExpress they seem to have options layed out for "Band Width" so I guess you'd pick "18mm band width". Since the link on the bracelet that attaches to the clasp is just shy of 18mm. I'm seeing milled clasps on AliExpress for as cheap as £2 so it might not be a horrible idea to get an 18mm AND a 20mm just in case the 18mm is reffering to the bracelet width BEFORE it tapers. Heck... this is why even I hesitate to just BUY a milled clasp, since i've bought some in the past that don't fit what I need them to.
Yep, I've built on this one as well, excellent product for the price, did have to replace the case back as its finished quite poorly and was a bit scratchy on the wrist 😂😂 DDropped in a PT5000 and really does look the business, replacement bezels inserts are also easy to get hold of ,got mine rocking a blue bezel and white 62mas gloss dial 🤌👌
Same build for me and i love the silver chapter ring better, it's vintage. Also tropical strap looks cooler amd actually was oem on the first first 62mas
So Dan, do you have any “high-horology” watches in your personal collection? Just curious from collector-to-collector. I have a bit of both: several seiko mods and several Swiss/German made watches. A “state-of-the-collection” video might be interesting to some of us! If you’re interested in sharing I think we would enjoy it.
Unfortunately the best in my collection are my various high-end seiko mods. The rest of my watches are more budget friendly in the "under £200" range. I think people might be underwhelmed by a "state-of-the-collection" from me. I would like to at least get a Dressy Grand Seiko with a spring drive in the future, but I couldn't justify the cost for the time being.
Or, you could have just bought the Cadisen C8207M (I paid 56€ for mine, VAT and shipping included) and replaced the dial. And since you said this watch was a little too big for your wrist: the Cadisen's case diameter is 38mm with a 46mm L2L.
Got a vid idea, but not sure how to reach out. Looking for a family gift. Me (of course), wife who will be getting US citizenship in the near future and step son (18) who will be adopted / citizen also. Sturdy, reliable, with possibly a custom personalized face? Reach out, might make a cool vid.

That's exactly why!
When you see an It's Another Watch video come up you know it will be a banger
Woohoo! New video! I kept seeing this case and it's nice to finally see the 62mas dial in use again. :D
Its nice seeing a new video after a while and who doesn't love a good bargain.

Where do you get the Seiko dial and hands?
Where can I find the milsub case ?
What's the outside diameter of that chapter ring anyways?
I am thinking of doing a 62mas mod. Enjoyed the video. Btw can you try one of the namoki pilot dials in that namoki case? Would be interesting.

looks fricking awesome! might do the same thing. just want to ask how big is lug to lug of the case? i also have very smal wrist
Glad you like it! If you do build one I hope it goes well! The lugs are 20mm.

Thx for the fast answer mate🎉 I try to do this but im afraid that I wil push to hard. Greetings from the netherlands.
If it is Tandorio case it have water resistance around 30 meters!
Gary from ILW tested some and I think two leaked water inside.
90% sure it is the TD-Mywatchcode
I wish there was a case like that but without a chapter ring all together. I don’t like that deep dish look
What movement was used?
An NH35 Movement. NH35 is date only, NH36 is the same but has the Day & Date.
Put it on a waffle rubber. You’ll love it that much more!

is it possible to make a custom quartz build ....and what accurate quartz can we buy that can compete with the 9f or 0100?
Do you sell any of your watches you mod !?
No I don't sorry.
What 62mas mean?
If there is a next time, I suppose it would not be a bad idea to powder coat the chapter ring. It shouldn't be expensive at all.
Unfortunately it's just too large. If it were 37 to 38mm and about 44 to 45mm lug to lug, that would be a dream.
can you make a seiko nautilus mod.

God willing we get another upload before the end of the year 🙏
The only thing I am not impressed with is the rotating bezel construction. Wire like is inside .
Chromed brass
I want to find watch components with absurd stated depth ratings.
That looks killer on the waffle dial!
Do you do mods of other people for a small fee? lol
Unfortunately not, I'm just a hobbyist so I wouldn't be happy charging people for my work.
Only the service of an automatic is a bit of a hassle and expensir
Why service it if you can just swap a new movement to the dial and hands?
Apparently they won't sell the case to those of us in Canada. Womp womp
