I think the fights would be much more evenly matched than it would first seem. The Avatar gaang is powerful with their bending, but the Demon Slayers are constantly fighting for their lives and are very competent themselves. The gaang faught not to be captured by the Fire Nation. The Hashira faught to not be brutually murdered by demons. Not quite the same.
The speed thing also comes into play, because no matter how powerful the benders are, they likely wouldn't be able to get a hit on most of the Hashira. The Hashira really show their power later in the manga, and are able to take down demons much more powerful than they are. It would be a similar sitution with the benders, but even more advantagous for the Hashira because at least their oppenents can't instantly heal themselves like most of the upper moons can.
In the end, it would likely depend on how serious of a fight it ends up being and how far each side is willing to take things. I don't think either side would truly want to injure the other in an actual fight, so both would be holding back.
Warning: Few avatar and demon slayer spoilers ahead! (Though this is all just from the anime and show, so finish watching them right now to read my take.)
Avatar’s bending system is actually way stronger than the abilities of demon slayers in the Demon Slayer show, and this is coming from somebody who has finished reading the manga. Airbending, for instance, shares similarities with the superhuman powers of demon slayers and hashiras. When airbenders wield weapons alongside their bending, they can be compared to hashiras due to their lightweight and agile airbending techniques. Picture this: demon slayers combat and subdue powerful demons who have a capability of using blood demon arts, which are forms of extreme magic. On the other hand, benders possess the extraordinary ability to manipulate elements and sub-elements, which can also be considered a form of magic. However, Demons also have the potential to cause immense destruction, potentially wiping out entire continents with their immensely powerful blood demon arts. These are exclusive to Lower Rank demons and Upper Rank demons. Even the weakest Upper Rank demon, Gyutaro and even Daki ranked upper 6, was capable of destroying an entire city. If you’re reading this and don’t remember, recall that Daki, in her true form, unleashed an obi attack that reached a range of approximately 20 meters, eventually striking Tanjiro's shoulder. Gyutaro engaged in the battle with Tengen Uzui, in which he used his blood sickles to wreak havoc within the red-light district eventually leading to the sickle storm which is the main reason the district got fully destroyed. Rui ranked lower 5, the second weakest of the Lower Rank, could effortlessly slice through the "magic" Sun swords or nichrin, this is similar to a human Gyutaro who was suppose to be weak and fragile but was still able to slice off a samurai’s sword, despite being weak, where nichirin served as the main weapons for the demon slayer corps. Various sub-bending techniques, like waterbending's ability to cut through metal and the terrifying bloodbending, further highlight the capabilities of benders in Avatar. Waterbending encompasses techniques such as whips, ice blades, and other incredible feats that demonstrate its potential to surpass the effectiveness of swords. While these superhuman swordsmen may possess greater strength and speed, the power of bending far exceeds their capabilities due to its inherent magical nature. When faced with an airbender, for example, a demon slayer's breath can be easily stolen away, potentially causing their lungs to rupture. In "The Rise of Kyoshi," a 16-year-old Kyoshi was able to lift an entire mountain using only earthbending alone, while in the series where she is fully grown up, moved an entire continent causing lava to force through and spill out of the landform. Master airbenders have the ability to create air spheres or shields capable of deflecting and repelling projectiles. An average hashira would not be fast enough to overcome a bender equipped with such defenses, as airbending techniques are nearly instantaneous, similar to firebending. Recall the scene where Sokka sliced through a rock statue using only his sword, akin to how demon slayers endure and slice through blood demon arts using their swords. As for the notion of Avatar's world having lower gravity or lesser forces due to its smaller size, recognize that their world still operates under comparable physical laws. The constraints preventing earthbending from shattering human ribs and organs or waterbenders from slicing their foes in half, and firebending from instantly incinerating their opponents into crisps, can be attributed to the fact that Avatar: The Last Airbender is a show produced by Nickelodeon. Despite being a children's show, it successfully captivates adult audiences by portraying violence, death, skeletons, and the remains of the Fire Nation without explicitly showcasing graphic or R-rated content. To put it simply though, the characters in both shows have extraordinary abilities that transcend the capabilities of average humans. Even non-benders exhibit superhuman techniques and skills, such as Piandao's impressive jump and slide across ice while remaining focused on his mission. The speed of a demon slayer traveling at 40,000 miles per hour is one large and impressive feat, thinking about it. That concludes my thoughts. But, if you believe that Avatar is merely a lazy children's show, remember to explore the graphic nature of the novels associated with it. Moreover, being categorized as a shounen anime does not narrow Avatar's ability to be comparable to other shows within the genre. The outcome of a battle between these two universes would depend on the specific circumstances or the way in which the fight unfolds. Labeling “anime or a children's show” does not define the entirety of the series.
100% avatar. i love demon slayer but it just doesnt compare
Demon Slayer is a lovely production with a compelling narrative and some of the best sakuga seen anywhere in years, but it relies a little too heavily on some irritating anime tropes for many viewers (I'm looking at you, Zenitsu).
Avatar: The Last Airbender doesn't match the technical beauty on display in Demon Slayer, but its overall tone is more consistent and its story more clearly directed by its themes.
My vote is for Avatar. It's got wider appeal, and is more timeless.
Great video, bur after finding out that the water, fire and thunder from Demon Slayer are just cool effects and are not actually real, I'm 100% sure Avatar wins.
As I understand it, in KNY universe the effects are caused by the breathing techniques themselves, so it's not like they aren't there or aren't visible. It's not real fire/water/any other element, but the visuals still have the same movements and speed, kind of like Might Guy from Naruto. Hope this makes it a bit cooler⚡
If you mean avatar wins in a fight I want to point out that the fact that the effects aren’t real makes demon slayers much more impressive and dangerous.
It means everything you see the effects do they are actually just doing it with their swords.
For example when Giyu uses 11th form to slice Rui’s webs he is actually slicing each web (they were hundreds of them) so fast that it looks like he’s just standing still.
That is speed that no one in avatar can handle.

Yes, I get that it just looks cooler for the anime and that it mimics the actual element, but that doesn't mean someone who can metalbend can't take away their swords, a firebender can't the shooty shooty pew pew, etc. Airbenders would counter the fuck out of any demon slayer because they can make them unable to breathe. A lot of possible things were cut out for the show because it was family friendly, but a waterbender can definitely drown someone easily.
Demons are something else though. If you're one of those annoying ass "uhmm he doesnt have a nichirin so he cant kill demons" I don't care because a full fledged firebender with the dance of the dragons can mimic the sun too, I think.

I am fully aware that the characters in avatar are way faster than the characters in demon slayer. The only problem is that compared to demon sayer characters they are way too slow.
There are bout a million different ways a bender can kill a demon slayer but these are people who make hundreds of moves in a second and in some cases thousands in seconds. That’s faster than anything any character in avatar can handle.
If a hashira was being serious in a fight he will kill multipleavatar characters before that a take a fighting stance. (As it only takes one slash to kill them and they can make multiple slashes in a second)
If demon slayer characters were not as fast, I have no doubt that they woul easily loose too the avatar characters.

ATLA is a 10/10 perfect show BUT DS is my Current Favourite and it might beat it for me if it end as good as ALTA did (my vote is still for Demon Slayer tho, since i know most will choose atla and its a 50/50 for me)

dope vide man. the spiritual aspects couldve been there own segment of the vid. there was some very interesting paranormal stuff in the beginning of demon slyer before it took a backseat to the action. but avatar masterfully presented the spiritual talks and scenes in a way that i rarely see topped even til this day. keep up the great work man

Demon slayer is a win here. I’d kill to have Ufotable animate a reboot of avatar though, with a more adult approach. I.e. show blood and kill some people, depicting the horrors of war.

They can't be compared,there is no nuance to the Demon Slayer crew there stereotypical battle shonen characters while in Avatar the chosen one archetype(which Demon Slayer has) is done perfectly and the redemption of Zuko is unparalleled I can only think of thorfinn and Kenshin who rival him. As a written story it's just not compelling too many plotholes and trash moments(Rengoku's death) and the manga is objectively bad in terms of panelling and tension. In terms of worldbuilding the lore of Avatar is shown clearly why each nation are the way they are but in Demon Slayer there's no in-depth lore in comparison .With that being said Demon Slayer is just your run-of-the-mill shonen but Avatar was a revolutionary tale only having one or two counterparts in the West while demon slayer is surpassed in the shonen demographic and in terms of battle manga it gets outdone by its counterparts.Overall I give Demon Slayer a 6/10 and Avatar a 9.5/10 in terms of them being how close to the perfect animation.(You got a new subscriber also from SA)
