I absolutely love the symbolism of the burning bat signal. No one had seen him for 8 years and his signal was destroyed by Gotham PD. No one hoped to see the signal and were almost certainly expecting to die at any moment, so to see the bat signal burning on the bridge with a “I’m back bois” vibe, must’ve been spectacular. (As the scene displays)
"The mask is not about you, it is about people who you care about"-Batman knew about coronavirus way back in 2012 when his fellow bat friend leaked the news to him
for those saying this was really extra, having extra morale for troops in a war is always a big, big plus. had he not done that the police force that charges the main building probably wouldn't be as nearly as many and determined
Batman- This is a metal screen that will block the nugs from falling in the bong. Get it onto the bowl by sunrise. They might hit the bong when it starts. Gordon- When what starts? Batman- The sesh.
The second time I saw it I took my mum, just me and her (she hadn't seen it yet) - watching her reaction to the ending was amazing - I absolutely adore Christopher Nolan and I've seen all of his films, not one has let me down yet to this day (Oppenheimer)
Exactly. He's still got a bit of the growl, especially when he's around other cops and assuming the persona of Batman. People nitpick about his voice but I don't get it.
The small explosion to aware any cops nearby the wall from the inside, so they all back off before the Real Blast. Giving them time to save themselves than getting caught in the explosion. Robin needs to learn tactics !
It was also symbolic. Blake did all the hardwork setting up freeing those men from the sewer. If Batman freed them, the Batman gets the credit. So, Batman gives Blake a grenade to throw to say that when the day comes as to how they got free, Blake can say "I throw an explosive (which he did)! Also, as the men are freed the first person the see is Blake, not Batman. Batman shows up afterwards. Now it looks like Blake freed the men all by his self, which he technically did.
Love this scene so much. Gordon nears the end, at the last moment he hears Batman's voice, he lights the bat symbol. Batman has come to save Gotham one last time.
+Bertolt Hoover The Dark Knight Rises: Bane starts messing around with Gotham, breaks Batman's spine, then proceeds to free all criminals from Prison to start a massive riot and rule the whole city, leaving only a small resistance group to face him. In the end, Batman comes back to finish it, with the help of Catwoman and some random cop who is so far not connected to him in any way, and it turns out (SPOILER ALERT, but seriously, everyone who cares has seen the movie) that his former love interest is actually the mastermind behind the plan. Batman and Robin: Popsicle Pete and Rose McFlower start wrecking shit up with an ice ray and mind-controlled plants. Batman, Robin and a girl who is to become Batgirl defeat them pretty much without any trouble, using witty oneliners. Pete turns out to not be that bad after all, he was just trying to help his dying wife and was manipulated by Rose. Also, Batnipples. (Didn't even bother to put a spoiler alert here, because seriously, who hasn't seen the movie yet probably shouldn't anyway) Totally the same movie.
Ralf Koneberg Actually... I was referring to Blake literally being Robin and calculating together with Batman and how it no one really thinks about that. But brownie points to u anyway.
Gordon: Very carefully walking over a thin layer of ice in order to survive Batman: Casually walks over in heavy black armor and orders Gordon to light a up a trail of gasoline
In Batman begins he fell into that thin ice layer so he knows how to walk over it. Nolan's every scene in trilogy is somehow connected with each other.
I remember thinking Bruce making the flame signal was corny as hell, but then remember in Batman Begins where the lines “theatricality and deception can be powerful tools” are reintroduced in this film with Bane. Him setting up the signal was not only hope, but to strike fear. Totally works for me now.
+burgonyasalata Because Nolan doesn't know what to do with armed bad guys in a Batman fight. There are so many instances where guys with guns literally stand around waiting to be knocked out, it spoils these movies for me.
@@dencheq Great movies but a little weak on the stunts. But cool thing is that I finally figured out why dude falls without Batman hitting him at 2:41. He gets shot when Bats kicks the gun. He gets shot a second time at 2:45. So both gun shots during this fight scene was at the same guy.
After so many years revisiting the trilogy, I could not help but appreciate the cinematic experience these movies gave at a time when major superhero franchises were in the nascent stage. Nolan brought such spectacle to this genre when no one could even thought of pulling this off.
It’s honestly amazing looking back at this trilogy’s greatness and realizing that there are so many small details in every scene, that I didn’t manage to see beforehand at the time, that I’m starting to find out and learn more about now when I rewatch these films scene by scene. There is really so much to dissect in this trilogy that can be easy to miss at first glance. Christopher Nolan really is a detail-oriented genius. This trilogy truly is a masterpiece. There will never be another one like it. Is anybody else also finding and noticing small but critical details and moments in this trilogy that you didn’t see beforehand?
Bane struck him at his most vulnerable state in his post-Batman career, dislocated his back and left him in a different country (somewhere near Morocco). It makes sense.
Batman's recovery and escaping the hole was nearly impossible in my opinion. Thanks to Ra'As Al Ghul who mocked Batman on a daily basis and made him do it.
*Zack Snyder action choreography*: "Batman is being attacked simultaneously by bad guys but he uses his Martial Arts training and his suit to deflect knives, bob and weave in between punches, employs gadgets to quickly disarm enemies, and eventually maims his opponents enough that they won't get back up". *Chris Nolan Action Choreography*: "Bad guys surround Batman. Attack one at a time. If bad guy has gun, use it as a bat and swing it at Batman. If you appear in the frame but Batman's not near you, either fake a heart attack or trip over yourself".
This is why I'd team Zack and Nolan to direct an EPIC Batman Movie Trilogy based on The Comics. Zack can take care of the action scenes while Nolan can take care of the dramatic scenes.
Wasn't good Batman the Batman in the Dark Knight who located Joker, figured out his plan to dress up the hostages as goons, who saved the hostages by knocking out two SWAT teams and Joker's thugs; who saved the people in the boats and caught Joker? And then found where Harvey held Gordon's family and stopped him?
"Theatricality and Deception are important agents. You must become more than a man in the mind of your opponents." - Ra's al Ghul This scene made Batman the watchful protector, more than a man, the guardian of Gotham.
yeah I felt the same bro, a signal of a man beyond good and evil, with unlimited resources and an unbreakable will, ready to fight for us; as long as there is the Batman, there is Hope
This by far is my favorite scene in the whole trilogy. Everyone had lost hope in Gotham and all it took is the symbol of the Batman to inspire the entire city to fight back against Bane. Just goes to show the power one man can possess. The power to inspire is truly the greatest superpower someone can have.
Well said (though it was mainly the law enforcement, while others were inspired to try and leave Gotham with Blake), and it was demonstrated visually. 👍
I really do love seeing the Police Sergeant's reaction to the symbol. You can see in his eyes for that one frame of his face, the fire reignite, and belief. A man who was once determined to beat the batman, led his army. Not to mention, virtually everyone in Gotham at this point hated Batman and his legacy after the events of The Dark Knight, for his fake murder of Dent/the Police Officers. So this symbol just gives everyone hope.
I believe by this point Bane had already revealed the truth about Harvey Dent. He read Gordon’s resignation letter outside of the prison before setting the Dent Act prisoners free. I would say Gotham as a whole respected and endeared Batman, even those who had once hated him for the lie about Dent. I agree that Foley definitely had a moment of realization here that he was wrong and now could find the courage to stand against Bane and his army.
When you think about the dynamic of who Blake was supposed to be, it changes this interaction. It feels like an exercise in trust, a demonstration of expectations, a lecture in theatricality, a test to see if he could follow orders and finally the assignment of a role. He may not have a suit and a codename, but he definitely feels like Robin. Especially from this scene.
Watching the trilogy all together, this scene 1:45 stands out. Because for once, the bat symbol isn’t meant to instill the criminals with fear. It gives the citizens of gotham hope. Batman never fought crime to scare criminals, it was to protect the innocent. They no longer saw him as a freak, but as a saviour, a symbol of good. And like batman himself said, the people of gotham are always ready to believe in good. Plus I can’t help but have a big cheeky grin on my face when the music and the imagery all comes together to signal this iconic character’s return. So fucking epic.
The music makes this scene perfect. Gordon lights the fuse, the long first note plays as the flame goes up and up, and his theme resolves as his sign is revealed. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Amateur: steps into arms length of the batman to take a shot. Professional: steps away from batman to take a shot Expert level: runs away from batman and rethinks his life decisions
The smile & look of pure relief on Gordon's face @ 1:24 when he hears an all too familiar voice say - "Light it up..." @ 1:22 gives me chills each & every time I watch this scene. Then look of astonishment & awe on Blake's face from 2:44-2:55 when he realizes that Batman has just saved him & that he's returned to help save Gotham gets me every time too.
Today I understood the reason why Bruce Wayne decided that he can finally live in peace In the final action scene, he saw every official of Gotham standing up for themselves in the war, implying that the Gotham city no more needed his help for fighting criminals and the Gotham officials can handle any criminal in future
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 Ye and he’s like a general in a war. Until now he’s been a lone ninja. And after years of a turbulent relationship with Gotham’s police force at the end they’ve finally seen Batman as a true ally.
@@avanindrathecrownprince930 that was always Bruce's goal, to shake the people out of apathy and get to a time where the people of Gotham stand up for THEMSELVES especially the protectors like the police. I loved the ending because they honor the Batman with a statue in the lobby of city all (which forever acknowledges the selfless brave sacrifices the Batman made and how he could've been ANYONE) plus Blake (Robin) takes over for Batman and assumed the mantle, should Gotham ever need him again. (and they likely will, one day).
No, not really. The entirety of Gotham “officials” were incapable of thwarting Bane and Talia for the time Batman was MIA. And as far as the normal criminal element, Gotham had basically had shut that shit down for the last 8 years of the Dent Act. He clearly left breadcrumbs for Robin to assume the mantle of the Dark Knight, so he wasn’t leaving everything in the hands of “officials”.
I love this trilogy because people seem to forget that Batman isn't just a hero who beats up criminals and defends the innocent. That is a big part of his character, but he's also a symbol. Not a symbol like Superman, inspiring others to be good. But a symbol *to* evil, a warning. A warning that there is a watchful protector, a Dark Knight. And the knowledge that criminals fear that symbol, is what gives people hope.

Everytime i get goosebumps whenever i hear the background music it just took this whole triology to a different level altogether. By far the best superhero movie ever made
I fucking love how he created a bat symbol out of flames to prove to Bane that he made it out. He doesn't give af about destruction of property. He cares about proving to the people that he is a real symbol of hope for a fight against injustice among the corrupt. And that music that plays during the lighting up of the Bat symbol on flames with Bane saying, "Impossible" is incredible. Bane thought he could destroy Batman mentally and physically. He was sure of it. But Batman unexpectedly surprised Bane and climbed out of that pit to stop him. Fucking incredible writing.
i love the way bale's batman snatch the guns from the criminals and toss it away as he continues to fight. god i love the take on the batman just the small details like that is why i appreciate even the little things that pays off making this trilogy even better then all that came before and even after this trilogy.
I don't want to be abrasive, but people are so stupid asking why didn't Batman use the darts against Bane. It's just a movie for our enjoyment. Every James Bond movie, James gets captured by the bad guy. We should ask why Bond isn't killed right there and then? Anyways, the only reason I came here is to view this scene which is so epic. There are so many great moments in the Dark Knight trilogy. I'm really hopeful Affleck doesn't ruin the great comeback Batman made to the big screen.
no one ever talks about this but i love the scene from 2:43 - 2:55 of blake watching batman fight. he looks so in awe of him, plus the music adds a lot to the wonderment i think.

"I am Gotham. I am its Dark Knight, its Keeper; its Protector; its Watcher on the Wall. You thought you broke me ...? Well, here, I am; and will always be here, here.

The Dark Knight Rises: Bane starts messing around with Gotham, breaks Batman's spine, then proceeds to free all criminals from Prison to start a massive riot and rule the whole city, leaving only a small resistance group to face him.

This by far is my favorite scene in the whole trilogy. Everyone had lost hope in Gotham and all it took is the symbol of the Batman to inspire the entire city to fight back against Bane. Just goes to show the power one man can possess. The power to inspire is truly the greatest superpower someone can have.
Well said (though it was mainly the law enforcement, while others were inspired to try and leave Gotham with Blake), and it was demonstrated visually. 👍
Ok fine TH-cam I’ll watch this masterpiece again 🙄
"Don't thank me yet"
Hans Zimmer deserves as much credit as anyone else for how great this trilogy is
... and James Newton Howard ...
Hans Zimmer ist der besten kompozitor auf jeden Fall, die Musik ist wirklich unglaublich verdammt gut.
What’s the soundtrack 1:12
When you think about the dynamic of who Blake was supposed to be, it changes this interaction. It feels like an exercise in trust, a demonstration of expectations, a lecture in theatricality, a test to see if he could follow orders and finally the assignment of a role. He may not have a suit and a codename, but he definitely feels like Robin. Especially from this scene.
Well said.

In the final action scene, he saw every official of Gotham standing up for themselves in the war, implying that the Gotham city no more needed his help for fighting criminals and the Gotham officials can handle any criminal in future
And the fact that Blake aka Robin was more than able to stand up for himself and take over the mantle hence why Batman left the Batcave to him.
