DON'T LET THINGS BEAT YOU TWICE. So encouraging and empowering to hear story from successful people who went through the same bumpy road, thank you DR.Randy for sharing
As an IMG aiming to get into a competitive specialty, everything around is too chaotic. I didn't realize living AND loving the process is equally important as getting through it, until you pointed it out. Thank you for this boost Dr Neil. I appreciate it!
It's sometimes hard to let go of scars from the past and feel positive about the uncertain future. But like you said, rock bottom does indeed make us stronger. I think it's the feeling that we have nothing more to lose from here and hence we go all in. The residency process is really uncertain and stressful, but mentors like you are a blessing that make it all seem doable..!
One of my teachers said to me during my foundation years "there is no chance you can ever be anything at all. Becoming a doctor is a different story" So...then I become one eventually
The music , the monotone visuals, your calm voice ... all of this is soothing some very deep nasty wounds in my heart. I'm watching this with tears rolling down my face because I feel cared for by someone. I wish I can meet you some day and thank you for this
Not only I liked this video but I was tuched when it was said dont't let things beat you twice, I also went through a rough road, the persisitent feeling inside me to select medicine branch and people around me mocking me down when I failed , but I now don't care about ayone and still working hard to get into my dream medicine residency. I came out of that depression by my own , It was really worst and last experience for me I decided on my own , now i wont let anyone decide anything for me ,also wanted to thanks a ton , your MCQ videos are helping me a lot .
Thank you for such a heart felt comment. We/You are NOT the result of the exam or even the profession we/you choose... We are not here to win. I feel that when we align to our highest power ,then we are where we need to be... It is hard to let go of those (people, friends, family...) who believe we should be a certain profession or serve in some other role than what you believe is your authentic self... STAY STRONG, STAY POSITIVE... BELIEVE.
@@RandyNeilMD Thankyou so much doctor. I will never forget these words and will carve them on my mind and soul and will never feel low again for myself . I will never waste time thinking about my failures and people.
Theres always some people who’s msg is received perfectly by people. Dr Randy, you’re one of those. Your channel has helped countless and will keep helping, and your words of advice are just as brilliant as you are. Thankyou for existing. God bless you - a very anxious IMG.
i am actually one of those people who thinks about the past a lot and thinking about it makes me lose confidence. This video made me realise that its okay n i need to move forward, take everything in my stride and essentially enjoy the ride. Thankyou so much dr neil! Please keep making such videos more often. It helps us a lot more than you think!😊
Two years ago when I was preparjng for my Step 1 used to watch this video when I could not push myself forward. Then I had decided one day when I will match I will comment in this video. This video had touched my heart. I want to share an exciting news with you that I have been matched into my top choice residency program this year. Thank you would be less for you. You made my journey breathable. You are always in my prayer. ❤
Watched this before Day 1, Day 2 of Step 3. Step 3 is now done. Dr. Neil, I watched your biostats vids from Step 1 all the way to Step 3. Just want to say thank you. I now look forward to your life lesson videos! I can continue to learn from you. A video on insecurities and confidence (not interval) would be amazing! Sincerely, Random PGY1
Dr. Randy, This past Wednesday I received my Step1 score and I passed! Thanks for great videos on biostats, communication and general life advice. I appreciate the time you take to make these videos which helped me during this process. Sincerely, a US-IMG.

You should tell MDs not to let a stupid exam define you. I never had any trouble with exams including this one. Only at the prometric center where my score dramatically differed from anything during home study did I realize there's a grave issue here.... Thus is a scales exam people. Don't let them tell you don't know what you know. I've watched so may medical students recently who know literally nothing and pass this exam. I'm scared for our future of healthcare
