One very dangerous situations is when you spot a vehicle in the lane next to you on the left. You see it coming and wait for it to pass. As soon as they pass you see an opportunity to switch lanes and pass the person in front of you only to see that person that passed you was pulling a trailer. This has append to me twice and fortunately I didn't fully commit to switching lanes.

@@wobblysauce That's assuming you can set them correctly. A cars mirrors can pretty much always be set so that you can just barely see your rear fender when you're in your normal driving position. Motorcycle mirrors are a lot harder to get right, especially since you might not always be sitting the same way depending upon how you're riding or what's going on. It's an especially significant problem, if you're a wider guy on a smaller motorcycle.

For someone like me, who has serious neck issues and reduced range of motion, blind spot indicators are a an additional piece of safety equipment and actually factored into my last motorcycle purchase decision. Doesn’t replace head checks but complete the range I no longer have. Like any piece of safety equipment (abs, traction control, etc.) it’s to be used in addition to, but not replace, good practice.

Heya Chaos, if you're getting with Innovv/Denali Electronics, could you ask for their H5 Helmet Cam? And do a comparison to the Insta360 and GoPro if you still have GoPro?
I think the H5 weakness is it has only a 512GB maximum size TF Card, the the H5's biggedt strength would be the long battery life OR charging the H5 with an "alternate power supply" that could ideally go into a DC Port so that the battery life isn't the limiting factor.

It's definitely a nice to have safety product, and if you only have 1 motorcycle I'd recommend it, especially to new riders. But, if you have 2 bikes it's harder to recommend. And if you have 3 or more like I do then it's just too expensive to kit out all of them with it.
If they made a system that fits on a helmet then I'd be all for it. But in the mean time I'll keep to my head checks & using a chin mounted action camera as a dash cam.

The point is that these are completely useless on a motorcycle. A motorcycle has no b pillar, or c pillar, or however fucking many pillars and obstructions that a car has. You can turn your entire body on a motorcycle if needed and see everything completely unobstructed. Better yet, you can slightly turn your head and still see everything completely unobstructed. These could cost a couple of cents, and they would still be completely irrelevant on a motorcycle. I like chaos, but be honest, if this video wasn't sponsored would he even talk about this product? I'll let you answer that

Bought a full Innovv cam system for my bike 5 years ago. Product was of nice materials, but several spelling mistakes on the product it self, and the parking sentry mode (Which was the only reason I bought the product), constantly had false triggers, which filled up the "Locked" part of SD card. For approx. 400 dollars the software was not good enough, they never fixed the problem even though I contacted them several times. I even was told to go out and buy a new Samsung SD card, which I did (And paid for) but it didnt help the issue.
Such a shame, because the material quality seemed very good. They might have fixed it on the current product line, but I dont trust the company anymore.
Ended up selling the bike and buying a 100 dollar cam system, with parkering sentry mode for my new bike, which worked as it should.

When you can't see something in the mirror but can if you turn your head than it's not in a blind spot. Something is in a blind spot where you can't see it even by turning your head e.g. right behind a lorry or right in front of the vehicle if its lower than a bonnet.

To an extent yes. I would prefer if it pretty much just looked directly behind you because you've got a left and a right mirror on a motorcycle, you don't have a particularly good view directly behind you the way that you would with a car. Knowing that somebody is too close behind you so that you can potentially slow down or pull over to the side to allow them to pass would be a significant safety addition.

Or you could rid yourself of the normal useless factory mirrors and get bar-end mirrors that give you a view of more than, and past your elbows and shoulders. Mine cover directly behind me and allow detection of flanking traffic when set properly. All without losing forward vision, where most of the hazards lie. I will still do the shoulder glance when changing lanes. This device seems to work OK but is also an additional complication.
Also, select your helmets with peripheral vision as one of the main factors. Many impinge upon this.

Sure, I can see those BMW riders getting this system because they all worry too much, but for any other rider, for R5500 ex shipping and potentially a R7000+ system, no chance!
You are on a bike, if you want safety, buy a Volvo!
My dad always told me, no need to look in the mirrors while riding, because that's the past and it can't catch you! 😂
I use use little round bar-end mirrors and they are honestly the best things ever!
I can even see someone standing directly behind the bike which is a bonus in my book and only cost a few bucks!
This system is a gimmick or toy that 90% of riders will never need.Your eyes should be on the road and not having to worry about little flashy lights on the handle bars.

When you said before if it could identify dangerous drivers well, from an American perspective that's every driver on the road that's not on a motorcycle and has not ridden a motorcycle.
I say this because aside from changing music with a Cardo/Comms button, you're pretty well and free from distractions, so you're actually paying attention to the damn road.
Not a fan of the miniature tablets that Honda is putting on their Africa Twin and Goldwing, and not a fan of this.
Where the Innovv would excel is for people who are on Harley's, maybe they have rods in their back (because geriatric, or because never wore a jacket with backpad) up to their neck/shoulder blades and can't shoulder check easily.
The Innovv 3rd Eye is ideal for geriatrics on Harley's, if you're not an octogenarian, than use your neck.
I feel like this may be a product that sees more sales in the U.S. market than in the rest of world as the U.S. still does not allow Lane Filtering in it's proper sense.
(Yes yes (fellow) Americans, 5 states where people can go to a red light in between cars at 15mph or less, but there's still only 1 state that allows what lane filtering should be, going in between moving traffic, regardless if that traffic is 30mph or 10mph (or even two jackasses in lifted trucks going 55mph and blocking both lanes of a U.S. Highway))
For countries that aren't so car-centric that it's disgusting, Lane Filtering exists, for countries that can Lane Filter legally, I see this as a want rather than a practical need, as well.. 1. If you're lane filtering the lights are going off all the time, 2. If you can lane filter, you're not especially worried about what's behind you that you've passed.

Spending money, rather than doing a life saver maneuver? No no no if you're riding a bike like a zombie car driver it's time to hand up the helmet.
Sorry Jutin, It's a no from me, but then I'm not a biking commuter.

If you're not doing 'lifesaver' shouder checks then you shouldn't be riding. This might be good for people with limited neck mobility, but you shouldn't be relying on technology or even your mirrors. Use your own eyes

WTF are you talking about? What respectable rider doesn't do a head check during lane changes?

Head checks are for people that aren't driving double the posted speed limit.

Only bad drivers have a true "blind spot".
There is no "blind spot" in cars if you set up your mirror correctly, or if your mirrors are too small (which can happen due to the bad design of the car you chose to spend your money on) then you have to look over your shoulder as a good driver.
For motorcycles, just look over your shoulder, it is not that hard to check your "blind spot". WHY BUY a useless 300$ dollar device!?!? Just buy bigger or more curved mirrors for a FRACTION of that price...
If you need this, you are NOT a good driver and you are recommended to get off the road (not just the motorcycle). You are leaving your life depending on a 300$ sensor and losing the habit of checking that "blind spot" which will most likely cost you your life.
This device is nothing but a money grab, and you have to be an idiot to throw your money on something this useless.
The irony of them trying to make you ride "safe" while making devices that strip you of essential habits as a motorcycle rider.
And even if you still do check your blind spot, what is the device there for?? WHY DID YOU BUY IT?? I know, I know: to waste space, money, and essential time and to look "cool and safe".
Edit: And don't be stupid and say "WhY hAvE mIrRoRs If YoU aRe GoInG tO cHeCk YoUr BlInD sPoT?"; mirrors give you at least a million times more information than this "third eye device".
Mirrors literally relay 90% of all the information you need in 90% of cases. Checking your blind spot is needed for 10% of the remaining case for that 10% of the remaining information.
And how to know when to check your blind spot? Experience, common sense, and situational awareness.

We're talking motorcycles and there's always a blind spot directly behind you, how large it is will depend on the mirrors and how well they're set up, but there's always a blindspot.

    • @Logical.Psychopath
      @Logical.Psychopath 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@SmallSpoonBrigade NO, there is not "always a blind spot". With wide mirrors that are correctly set up, you will have 360 vision at a glance on your mirror. You either don't have mirrors wide enough or you don't know to set them up.
This is especially easy to do in cars, but motorcycles can have them too. You can even have a small mirror in the corner of your mirror that is extremely curved so that it reflects directly from where your normal mirror does not reach. There are all kinds of mirrors.

@@SmallSpoonBrigade even if you have a small blindspot directly behind you, it would be in a small vision angle (essentially non existing). And the original comment is criticising the stupid overpriced, useless device. Just look over your shoulder like you are supossed to, or don't and die.
