I actually enjoyed this more than the film itself. I especially appreciated the presence of actual Native American actors, singers and dancers in the cast.
Wow. I really loved this little outdoor theater. This was during the Eisner era I believe Those were the days when entertainment value trumped $$$. Great times; when the place was just oozing entertainment value (and the Hunchback show that followed might have been even better!). I miss these times [December 1971] Vet here...
Me too. December 6 1971 as I recall... Haven't been back since 2012; but that's cool. We experienced the place during its golden age. For all his faults Eisner actually understood the legacy, the place hasn't been the same since.
I loved how you uploaded this I needed this to see how to act for my dance I do dance and it’s ballet rehearsals so I perform for other people and it is based on Disney princess and I have a solo for Pocahontas so this helped me a lot thank you 😃🙂😊
Pocahontas is my favorite disney princess and every time we went to Disneyland I always drag my mom to this show at least once probably twice during the day when I found out they were getting rid of it I was like we have to go to Disneyland to watch at least one more time.
I wish that 28:41 - 29:40 was in the ending scene in "Pocahontas". Some of the reprises in Disney films have a chorus singing a reprise of a certain song, but Pocahontas is the only film that does not have that!
Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz made The Hunchback of Notre Dame into a stage musical and Stephen Schwartz made The Prince of Egypt into a stage musical and Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz should also make Pocahontas into a stage musical!
I enjoyed this, but am I the only one who thinks the singing isn't very good? I mean compared to the other shows they have to offer now, this singing is bad
This was probably one of the first time Disney had a mostly colored/non white cast. They did extensive castings nation wide to find Native Americans and POC to portray this important piece of history.
I’m so happy to see this is still up! I was one of the dancers in this show. I’m a tribal member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma.
Man that was amazing. Imagine if Dinsey made an actual musical based on the Pocahontas. How cool would that be.
I actually enjoyed this more than the film itself. I especially appreciated the presence of actual Native American actors, singers and dancers in the cast.
They really paid attention to the movie
My grandfather took me to see this show! Omg, I can't believe there's still footage of this! I'm crying now. Thank you for sharing this!❤️

I wish this would come back.I would love too see this when I go to disney world for the first time this July!
Those saying she can't sing, you must have something stuck in your ear, she nails it perfectly. What is wrong with people...
I wish I was able to remember this when I was at Disney!
Magic

I love how Powhatan's reprise of "Steady As A Beating Drum" is incorporated into the main song.
It’s actually the story teller
@@robertbreschard3493 Oh, sorry

You crazy‼‼‼‼❇
I saw this when I was at Disneyland back in August of 1997.
Wasn't this replaced by The Hunchback of Notre Dame A Musical Adventure in 1996 ?
I would have given anything to get to see this. Pocahontas is my favorite.

Great video!

Real endings are like that
I love Pocahontas so much
Shes so cool
She kinda sounds like Meg from Hercules but I think this is awesome!
love has happy ending john doesn't get shot by ratliciff
Does someone knows who plays Powathan? :) he sings really good!!!
Anyone
@@robertbreschard3493 ?

I prefer the Tragic ending, but the whole cast singing "Colors of the Wind" was just gorgeous!!!
Idk but i thinkThe stage looks bigger ?

28:41 - 29:40 I wish that was included in the movie. Think about how powerful the ending to Pocahontas is if the chorus sang this.
love it! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, now their showing kids how to summon spirits at Disney. Nice.
i don't like the new ending. The ending is used to be sad, or else it is no Pocahontas! Pocahontas does not have a happy ending!
she couldn't that colors of the wind song that was pocahontas best song and she fucked it up
2:53 steady as the beating drum
Did Beauty and the Beast place this ? I'm pretty sure.
Like first stage show ever on the Disney property?
How many mgm and animal kingdom shows were took off there theme parks
First one was actually Beauty and the Beast in 1992.

Because no. Just no.
