- In 2007, the organizers of the Entertainment Home Expo as me if I knew an artist that they could contract to perform at their convention, which was held in Long Beach that year. I didn't know Dave Mason but I knew someone that did and asked if he would put me in contact. I've been lifelong fan and was thrilled when Dave agreed to play the show AND come downtown to record a few tracks for a custom DVD that the show organizers were willing to sponsor and give away at the show. This is one of the tracks from the 2007 EHX Demo DVD on AIX Records. Unfortunately, I've run out of physical discs but will make available the other tunes through my channel. Yay! Lucky you. I commented above I was about 9 when this came out and it made me instantly wistful for breakups I was yet to have. Like I knew upon hearing it, life would throw some curveballs, but with songs like We Just Disagree, I’d get through okay.

I bought the album "Alone Together" when I was home on leave, 1970. The original album was the "Marbled Vinyl". Very cool. Every LP was distinct. Kicked myself in the arss for giving it away and went to buy another several years later. It was just a normal LP. Rats. I still play that album from time to time. Know every song by heart.

This is a wonderful song that I've loved since I first heard it in the 70's. Like Dave, I've grown older and mellower and this version is by far, the best one I've heard by him. It reminds me of the "one that got away" back then and my heart still aches. I've had a good life but still, I wonder what could have been. Dave Mason is such a wonderful messenger because his music goes straight to the heart.

@@ICDUMPEPL Sure, one or the other, or both can be at fault in a given relationship, but no, it isn't a cop out in the case of this particular story/song. A relationship that ends due to disagreement doesn't require a bad guy. Every situation is anecdotal.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave many years ago in a little bar in Half Moon Bay, Ca. He was taking a break and took a few minutes to talk to me. Couldn't have been nicer. A real gentleman.

Don't know if I'd call it a "sad" song. I'd say knowing something is wrong, but neither person facing up to it is sadder. At least with pretense gone, there's a chance for real acceptance---imho.

I loved it as a preteen when it came on the radio in Minnesota, I love it even more watching a gray and balding Dave Mason play this simple two-man version.

"This song was written by Jim Krueger, a guitarist from Manitowoc, Wisconsin who joined Dave Mason's band in 1974. Affectionately and ironically known as "bruiser" (he was actually very soft-spoken), Krueger became Mason's trusted musical partner at a time when he sorely needed the help. Mason, a former member of the band Traffic, signed a deal with Columbia Records in 1973 that demanded two albums a year from him. It was Clive Davis who signed Mason, but Davis departed the label soon after, leaving Mason in the lurch.
I was going to cut it anyway, but I frankly thought it was too good a song to be a hit. Sounds strange. And it wasn't a huge hit, it got to #12. But it's been around. It's a great song. It's a timeless song."
Mason included the song on his 1977 album Let It Flow, but it wasn't chosen as the first single: that honor went to "So High (Rock Me Baby And Roll Me Away)," which peaked at #89. "We Just Disagree" was the second single, and it became Mason's biggest hit as a solo artist.
Jim Krueger, who wrote the song, also played the 12-string guitar and sang the harmony vocal. Krueger, who died of pancreatitis in 1993 at age 43, included this song on his only solo album, the 1978 release Sweet Salvation."

I saw Jim Krueger and Mike Finnegan, both refugees from the Dave Mason Band, with Les Dudek in the DFK band, at the Cotillion Ballroom in Wichita, Ks, back ~ 1980. It was a great show. I always wondered what happened to Krueger. Thanks for the memory.

My best Buddy won some tickets to see Dave a few (5+) years ago at a Casino. He said "the name seems familiar but I can't remember why?" I said "DUDE he played the 12 String Acoustic on Hendrix All along the Watchtower and his SOLO hit was "We just disagree", but he's played on endless amount albums too. Dave is a legend. My buddy said He and the Wife were amazed at the songs he was a part of when he played them.

@@getreal3336 most country songs are written by other people and the artist makes them what it is. The song writers never really get the credit except in the publishing. Most do t know who wrote the music not unusual though. 🙂

Right. Although I have always loved the Beatles' version of "With a Little Help From My Friends", I also love Joe Cocker's version of it.

Takes me back to a slower simpler time. Miss all the people that surrounded my daily life back then.
An iconic, beautiful ballad that spoke to my 12 year old me in a sad and truthful manner that those around you seldom do. Now 47 years later and staring into the abyss, I find myself drawn back to not only those simpler times but the prophecy that this song and many songs of my generation that turned out to be oh so true. Unfortunately, we don’t always reap the wisdom until it’s often too late. A heartfelt thanks to Dave Mason for making my childhood and my life and those of my generation a bit more peaceful and joyous.

I saw Dave play in the Sierras in a small club with Nils Lofgren as his sideman...great show..that was probably 1983...Dave still had hair back then. Good to see his voice still rings true. Great songwriter!
Nils Lofrgren? Nils Lofgren! I was working in a record store in '75 when his first, self-titled album came out. What a great album. (Not that I'm jealous...)

I remember growing up Huntington Beach Dave Mason played at the Golden Bear all the time when I got to be old enough, my Band got to open up for him and I got to smoke a bowl in his truck at the galaxy theater in Santa Ana and it was a memorable time he said I had good chops and we smoked a bowl and everything was wonderful ❤️🎸🎶😁

Saw this guy at the Calaveras frog jump back in the early 70's. This song always makes me stop and think about many decisions, some good some bad, made over the years.
He played a small gig here in Portland, Maine once. Raoul's in the late "80's. It was so great!

Dave still sounds awesome! What a heartfelt song. It was written by singer/guitarist Jim Krueger, who was Dave's main side man from 1974 until he passed away in 2019. Jim was a great talent in his own right, obviously. He had a great blend with Dave's voice. You can hear it on Dave's double live album from 1976 or 77, I forget. Keyboardist/singer Mike Finnegan was the third vocalist that made up those soaring harmonies. The kid playing next to Dave looks a lot like Jim. Gee, I wonder? Could it be?

I saw Dave Mason at a Las Vegas concert many years ago. I got to meet him after the show and he was such a gentleman. Gave me a very nicely-worded personal autograph. Such a talent.

What an incredible guitar! The way those harmonics ring at the end is mind-blowing. I've been a fan since first hearing in the earliest days - can't remember when, but have seen quite a bit of Mr. Mason in the last 17 years or so. Many shows at Agoura Canyon Club- always playing this song - always reminding me of my ex of 31 years. Cas - if you ever see this - try to smile and remember all the great times - like I do whenever I hear this.

was a baby in Jr. High when I first heard it and have loved it ever since. It packs a punch in terms of meaning and yet flows with such grace. 76 years old Dave is and looks and sounds great. A life of good music will do that for you I guess.

Just found this song for the first time since I was under 10 years old. Was overwhelmed with tears and feelings. It took me way way back. Forgot this great song existed for about 35 years. It specifically reminded me of my mom as a young woman when I was just her little boy around 1980. Wonderful song.

Saw him last night and he put on a fun show. All the greatest hits.
I generally don’t write personal stuff but, this guy took me to a private showing and I had a great time a beautiful memory but I was young just joined the navy, well I broke up with this man cuz I went to see the world. Two divorces later kids grown up and I still remember seeing him play I was 20 and that guy was so nice to. I am now 64 and that fond memory never left me.
To those of us who lived through this, as resonant for us as we were in the 70's, it never changes and still as good then as now....
Wow... This was a time in history when acoustic guitar was prominent and caught my ear. He's always had one of the better, most memorable voices and I'm glad he's still doing what he loves.
