Hello there, just saw your video about fishing the blue river. Actually it's stocked once a week not once every two weeks😊 and for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks they stock the river twice each of those weeks yeah it's a wonderful place to fish. My wife and I just moved to Oklahoma a year ago and I was there for the whole trout season and probably put in 80 Days on the river at least. Lots of different sections of the river for a number of miles. Glad you guys enjoyed the visit because Oklahoma is a wonderful place. As the season goes by the the fish there you put in get successively bigger . But as you saw I can get cold so I should be prepared for some freezing fingers and the water gets real cold. What is considered the trout fishing season? Central OK here, and I’ve just got muddy rivers and no trout! I would love to take the kids down to the Blue River or lower mountain fork.
Dang! Right in my backyard! Ya'll for sure hit the busy part of the river!
It shocked me how many fish were caught in that busy area. What a gem of a place.
@@BooneBoys it is! I love taking the boys over there. We usually fish up north on hwy 7 because theres never as many people. It’s great kid fishing for sure.
@@ArmsFamilyHomestead that was our first time there. I lived in western Oklahoma whole life and never knew about the Blue River. Next time we will try further up.

I had some time to think afterwards, and the reason I struggled so much was because my bait was too far off the bottom, just over two feet from sinker to hook. When I re-tied and was closer to bottom, 8-10 inches from sinker to hook, my luck changed immediately and I was getting bites every cast. Goes to show how important presentation and placement is, lesson learned for next time.
Ha ha. Great swan dive and great trip! There were several things I’d like to try out. I think the death roll hook had more potential.

Great video I was there last week an was fishing north of the crossing an didnt have to go anywhere else or explore cause the fishing was so good an they were all large caught them on everything from spinners to marshmallows loved it cant wait to go back an take the wife an granddaughter

Awesome video! I always say I am going to go down there and try some trout fishing, but I haven’t made it yet. Would love to see how you cook those up if you ever decide to do a catch and cook!
Thanks Dustin! I think my wife and figured out what we are going to do when kids grow up, get some waders and go fly fishing that River! I was jealous of all the fly fisherman. It looked like so much fun and they were smashing them.

Texas stocks trout but they do it in small local ponds. The one closest to where I am was a very sad experience!
The "pond" was very nice, but there were about 100 cormorants sitting a long the banks.
I wanted to fish the day of stocking, hoping to improve my odds, but all I seen was cormorants eating trout! I think they released 250 fish...cormorants ate over 200 in an hour. It was a shame too because the fish Texas releases are 15" to 16".
I talked to the guy working the delivery truck. He said the cormorants eat most of the trout every time he dumps a load of trout.
I ask him about releasing the at night but he said the drive is 4 hours one way! So it's not very practical!
We were in the Katy Texas city limits so you can even use fireworks to run them off before they dump the trout!
That’s too bad about the cormorants. Probably my least favorite bird. We didn’t really have enough time to explore more upriver, but there was so much more there that we didn’t film. If you want to get to more areas I’d recommend a pair of waders you can get to more areas. The fly fisherman were smashing them and looked like a blast wading while fly fishing.
I have not fished in ok. yet,hopefully i can find some bluegill or sunfish one day.
You can get those off any dock at any lake.
I live 30 minutes from Blue River. It's a hidden gem.
If I lived that close, I’d probably be finding a babysitter all winter and my wife and I would be fly fishing. lol.
