@@CalAndDanithe canals in Wolverhampton have some HUGE tench got a few bream too alot of big rudd and a few big roach too for a short 4 hours fish its a good run

that was amazing video and it happens to all fisherman and fisherwomen during fishing season we all struggle to catch something good for a good memories of our fishing adventures and the weathers that i had in wisconsin that was crazier than in united kingdom brother and your babe is trying her best to catch something which is good and i have fights with fish every time that i can remember from my days in school and out of school. @@bumblebeeman1978 yep it was edited out 😀 we made sure both barbel were well rested before releasing back into the river!
I don't see why you'd like to see a barble sit in a net for 10 mins, I feel like people would skip past that making his watch time per vid even lower, him cutting that out is just more convenient for all of us .

@@avoidoneu4061 - not for people new to barbel fishing, it’s essential information.
Barbel are like pike, if they’re not rested properly they can go belly up. Most fish are fine. Barbel and pike are different 👍
Are back leads not an option? Lower the rods a touch? I dont know just a thought
In this case no, as in front of the swim a few yards out were sharp rocks that would cut us off if we added a back lead.

Hook a good, real wild Brown Trout, at night, in a small stream and you'll know what the real hardest fighting river fish is.

Hi cal I’m going up the river for some barbel and I don’t know what hookbaits to buy I’m going to be ledring do you know any bait I should use for the hook?
Honestly, it depends on what river you are going to! We always love using Peperami which you can get from supermarkets and spam, however, spam falls off quite easily so it depends on how active you want to be :) You can also get dumbell style baits from tackle shops which will stay on for much longer.

@@liam-cp5wsit really is, such a good river! I would say maybe just feed with spam but don’t bother having on the hook/hair if the flow is crazy as it just won’t stay on. I personally would stick with more durable baits like peperami, the spicy one 😀🥵

Boggles my mind how many miles north you travel for barbel and if it makes use feel better i moved near the park in the start of the film and i cant seem to catch a barbel there either even tho theres plenty about

There were rocks directly in front of us so we needed to keep our rod tips up sadly!

It's a brilliant river lots of big fish , the canal is very underrated too spent many of hour pulling chub out of it some brilliant fish in it and nobody fishes it really any more only those looking for the ginger fisherman's big pike !
@@jameswitton-bw3dy yeah it’s a really nice river! And the canal is super cool however we tried it for a bit and couldn’t catch out of there at the time, the fish seemed super wary 😕

Hook a twenty pound salmon on a fly rod in the uk and you wont rate barbel so highly!
Got as much chance of catching chicken teeth as hooking a 20lb salmon most places in the uk.
