From KA-BAR's State & Union custom shop comes a historical class

  • KA-BAR’s State & Union shop has made a small batch of these iconic Red Spacer knife. The leather washers are shaped by hand and dyed to create an aged appearance. The pommel is ground down to replicate the dimensions of the original. Each red spacer is hand made to be slightly longer than the current spacer used on KA-BAR Fighting/Utility Knives. The blade is sandblasted, then cold gun blued. The sheath undergoes an aging process to darken the leather and match the original sheath color.

    Got my USMC KaBar back in the 80's. Blade is powder coated brown, and the clip is extremely sharp. I've used mine so much the handle had gone dark, from use. Its a very good knife. I have a leather sheath for mine. I still carry it when I go hiking/camping. I do not chop or baton with the knife.

    I started doing the same rubber band o rings about a year or two ago. Needed it when testing if I wanted a mini Ka-Bar on my chest rig (the jurry is still out); however I did the same to my ek 45 knife. It works wonders for grips that aren’t already something special.

    This is a neat knife. I just got the dogs head today.
    I’ve never been a ka-bar guy, but over the last month I’ve amassed a collection of like 6 of them now, including a ww2 one. I paired the ww2 scabbard/sheath with my dogs head because a normal kydex doesn’t work on it.
    Also I got a standard usmc and I put some ageing stuff on it that I was using at work… the leather turned out beautifully and looks like an oak colour now.

    Reading the KA-BAR specs the USMC version of the red spacer KA-BAR has blade length of 7.125 inches whereas the Dog's Head Model has 7.00 inches of blade length (probably a typo). Both models are also thinner, longer, and heavier than the traditional KA-BAR (non red spacer) Models. All very interesting.

    Excellent video man. Glad to see you wanted to give this to a someone who served in our armed forces. How did you get you USMC leather wraps so shiny? Very cool idea with the O rings.
    Have you hear about Ka-Bar and Spartan Knives collaborating on 4 knives? Kabar had Spartan do a Magnacut USMC! This is amazing! Stay sharp bud!

      Our records indicate that the butt cap to the #6417 (Red Spacer Knife) is made of a powdered metal.

    What was the total cost for your custom Veff serrations per blade?

    • @haveaknifeday
      @haveaknifeday  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Damn, but that is a good question. I can’t remember off the top of my head. It depends on what size you get. You can send him a photo of the knife you want done and say, four .5in serrations on it. He can quote you directly.

    Feel free to let us know about how to get in on the raffle / give away. As a vet, I would gladly give a donation for the opportunities to help my brothers and also to win a fine knife. My brother from Jump school retired MARSOC. He and I got in a lot of trouble in Jump school getting bombed at the Front Leaning Rest and then rappeling through the courtyard to avoid the two CQs and then being woke up in the women’s section by the SDO.
    We did extra duty through ground week, tower week and a lot of fun in the Gig pit.
