- I don't know why this happened!! I think maybe it was a glitch in the computer or someone was just leaning on the button that sends out the EAS!! Hahahaha!

The station might have been testing their SAME encoding equipment, hence the exceeding long tone (possibly the maximum number of areas their equipment can put out?) and the fact that it sent more than 3 bursts. It should have been a Demonstration Message (DMO), but they stuck "TEST-" in the header right before the alert type. All SAME-decoding WRs think that the alert is a "TES" which makes no sense.

There is no button a person manually activates. This was likely a transmitter error. All EAS tones sent are computerized.

Well....while it is all computerized, there ARE physical buttons which can be used in the event of a computer failure, but you have to push a ton of buttons before pushing "SEND". I doubt anyone would lean on it. I think it's a computer error.

Aviation747 the weather people might've went to work and they can get mad if the people have anger comments due to the little kids messing up the EAS but playing it is for emergencys only and it's not a toy to play with or maybe the weather people pressed the button multiple times and that's how I think that happens to a EAS System and the little kids can get arrested for fake EAS or they might get a $700 million ticket penalty for it either

Good news is we know the Weather radio works...Bad news is that NWS doesn't know how to send PROPER headers
That happened in Ontario. ECCC accidentally made an internal test external and the entire province got a tornado warning, my weather radio got set off 3 times. It sounded realistic, the alert tone, then tornado warning, then TWN details were "At 8:54 ECCC metrologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado..."
Those EAS tones must have some powerful lungs 😂👍
When EAS/EBS was started there was probably a crank eas tone machine so you would have to crank it to get the tones. lol.

This could either be a glitch or a header that has a very long list of counties. Judging by the unrecognised statement it could be both.
That happened to me a few weeks ago minus the EAS tone. Found out my radio had some phone line issues. I am blessed that no severe thunderstorm watch was not issue in my county

I believe someone tried to do that a while back, but attempts to decode it using SeaTTY did decode as far as a handful of areas, but then the application would stop responding for some reason.
I have reason to believe this was intended to be an internal test of the SAME encoder, but due to a technical glitch or as part of an on-air test procedure it got sent over the air. Makes me wonder if this can still happen with BMH; this technical fault might usually be associated with CRS.

the eas was not issued manually, its computerized.
