Try turning off your Non-MSAA anti-aliasing settings and turn MSAA down to 4x (Most Non-MSAA AA solutions make the image look smeary). Also turn off screen space shadows (Screen space effects usually look wrong in VR), that might fix the strange shadows you're seeing. Also turn off post processing effects like veil, depth of field, and motion blur to clear up the image (Those are also screen space effects that may be causing that issue you showed at the start). You can also bump up the contrast adaptive sharpening up by 5~20% depending on your preference to get a pop-ier image. Remember, the highest settings aren't always the best for VR.

Regarding early access, i never mind it. Yes, i know that it is still in a beta type status. Yes, i know that it isn't the quality level that it will probably be. And yes, I know that one day it will probably be better. The big thing for me is that it is usually much cheaper when it is released early, and when it finally gets the polish and is released in the store for much more, i already own it. Often times, i will buy it, play it once and shelf it. then months later I will see a major update for it, and load it up again. More often than not, I am usually pleasantly surprised. Now if only Meta would figure out how to allow me to connect my wheel to the headset. They can do it with a MIDI keyboard, so why not a driving wheel?
Hold your arms up in front of you for 2 minutes straight and then tell me you want to play a racing game for *hours* while holding your hands/controllers up in the air in order to hold onto a virtual steering wheel. Sim racers use wheel and pedals, which are more immersive in VR anyways.
I've been a big supporter of Early Access for about a decade, and it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, there are a lot of games that never make it out of development, but out of the probably 100+ Early Access games I've bought, a vast majority of them have been more than worth the price, which is usually pretty low. The only way you're going to be satisfied with Early Access is if you're willing to take a gamble on a game that you're usually getting for a discount because you like the idea of it. You need to fully expect it to be buggy on release, and the fewer bugs it has, the better. Half the fun of Early Access is watching the game develop and playing the different iterations of it as it improves. If any of this doesn't sound like a good time, then Early Access just isn't for you.
I do think early access from small sim racing studios such as kunos is expected. Its when the big boys do it, AC EVOs target audience is more for the hardcore sim racers out there who will stick with it Its when a huge studio go ahead and do it 😂 that when theres a problem
This is not an early release, it is a DEMO. These developers are releasing earlier and earlier just to get that money. It Won’t be long before an early release will be a message saying “coming soon.” I will shelve it and check back in six months.
Hello, I have Quest3 glasses and when I turn on the VR option the screen splits in two? The menu looks good, but the interior view of the car is divided into two parts. How can I fix this problem and do it right? Thank you
Most games moving forward need a VR mode that built with VR in mind. Especially horror games. I play lethal company exclusively in VR now and I'm glad nuclear nightmare is working on an official VR mode. Shooters also. Unfortunately the body cam devs said they won't do VR but I hope they whitelist VR mods
2 things that have put me off this release. VR available on day 1 of EA. That sounded fantastic till you realise it's unplayable for most. 2nd thing from what i've heard is they have some weird must be online to access singleplayer features which sounds crazy. I'll pick this up down the line because i love driving in VR. But there's plenty of other polished games to spend my time on while they improve this.
Dude, this looks like a DLSS issue. It's probably not rendering at the native resolution right now. You can get better performance by turning off Anti-Aliasing instead.
Maybe you could finally try the imho best racing game with VR support, Dirt Rally 2. Also, i hope you are not trying to race in VR using virtual desktop and not a cable, because the latency is crucial to racing. You need the car to turn now, not in the future 😅
I'm trying not pass to much judgement because it's in early access but I feel ACC was in better shape at early access, overall I feel it will end up as a great game given the Assetto Corsa track record, no pun intended lol.
Phase 2 of the early access roadmap will involve VR so improvements are coming soon. For now the best VR racing you’ll get is AMS2, AC and GT7. Physics are subject to preference 🙄
Early access or not, I thought this engine would be MORE efficient for performance than the origional ac engine for perfroamnce in vr. So far I was wrong.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: are valid for the AC and ACC drivers AND OTHER SIM platforms that still do it worse, new people are only valid if they spent the hours to understand everything, GO BACK 10+ years, we had AC, same start, NOTHING BEATS IT! until this gets to 1.0 or even before that!
Man, who cares about max settings? Max shadows, max reflexions, max everything it's pointless in VR! Rather try to archive the maximum resolution ( clear image) instead! Same with the post processing effects, they are cool for a screen, but pointless in VR. At those stages you should know better how to config a PCVR game in VR. Also didn't mention if you tried with OpenXR, Steam? Any other headset rather than the meta quest?
I think it's detrimental for the developer your trying to be honest but not mean, and for people who trust the content creators it would be better to have a clearer vision of the game❤
Beardo normally I find your reviews to be generous and careful not to offend today I think you nailed it a lot of the real racing sim youtubers are singing its praises but to me in terms of looks gt7 beats it easily and dare I say og asseto from 12 years ago with pure and csl looks better graphics wise im disappointed
I bought it while it was cheap, but won't touch it until it's had a couple of updates. ACC released in a similar state, as did AC back in the day. It will be great, just not yet
You keep saying you're playing at "maxed out settings" yet don't once mention what resolution you're playing at...this is one of, if not the most critical setting for VR fidelity...and as usual you also leave us to guess FPS. Especially for an early access review, knowing what resolution(s) and runtimes you were using are sorta invaluable VR info.
I do not see this grainyness and have none of this shadow messiness as well. Pimax Crystal Light with SteamVR/openxr. VR smoothness is not there yet though.
I have an RTX 4070 ti. running 4K at 60Hz. I understand about Early Access, I have patience to get the good stuff BUT why is even the UI bad and slow. I do some changes, click the Apply button and ..... wait... Click the back button and... wait... This is crazy, OK a minor thing but very indicative to me of the state of non-development.
Updates coming fast …yesterday it was bad in flat …but today its better already ……we know what kunos can do …its for the hardcore simmer…and its great …but not yet 😅
Early access to some "developers" is just a way to cash in, and to have a built in excuse for the releasing a CRAPPY GAME. This trend is getting wayyy to far out of hand. A lot of Early Access games never make it past Early Access.
The Early Access program was one of the worst things to happen to gaming. Despite some exceptions, it is the most abused release format to exist and does absolutely nothing to protect the consumer.
The original assetto corsa in VR is still phenomenal, the mod support it has makes it even better

Motion control?
No it supports force feedback wheelbase.
Hold your arms up in front of you for 2 minutes straight and then tell me you want to play a racing game for *hours* while holding your hands/controllers up in the air in order to hold onto a virtual steering wheel.
Sim racers use wheel and pedals, which are more immersive in VR anyways.
@@jessekoepp3928 That's all I want in life!
@ Then I suggest you get a Quest, they have a few racing games that offer that "feature" for driving.
@ I have a quest 2 :) I'd love a whole racing rig but I'm poor :(
Stable VR and Freeroam mode ready, then I'll purchase.
How did you start it in vr?
AMS2 you can crank everything up to max and it runs like silk. V1.6 is a massive upgrade.
I do think early access from small sim racing studios such as kunos is expected. Its when the big boys do it, AC EVOs target audience is more for the hardcore sim racers out there who will stick with it
Its when a huge studio go ahead and do it 😂 that when theres a problem
VR Step 2 will come out in 4-6 weeks. I’m not going to even try it yet.
this has to be the first time ive seen someone playing a VR racing sim with a controller
Idk why we can't get Forza Horizon level Graphics + Optimisation in a VR racing game
it's an early access buddy
the version is literally 0.1
This is not an early release, it is a DEMO. These developers are releasing earlier and earlier just to get that money. It Won’t be long before an early release will be a message saying “coming soon.” I will shelve it and check back in six months.
" just to get that money" Could it be used to further develop the game? Just a though.
Hello, I have Quest3 glasses and when I turn on the VR option the screen splits in two? The menu looks good, but the interior view of the car is divided into two parts. How can I fix this problem and do it right? Thank you
You should try Automobilista 2, that's the best VR racing experience on PC.
iRacing has great VR but older graphics ofc. Looking forward to this .. downloading it now :)
Will it also be available for psvr2??
Do you still end up paying full price for early access game,???
Is he using Quest controllers to steer and drive?
Nice one B
I have pico 4 with virtual desktop on 3080. Cannot use vr at all. Get around 10 fps and both of my screens are in the left lens!
£33 for 5 tracks is fuckin CRIMINAL
I'm setting sail on this one.
Bro i dont think you know about iracing...
'decided to go this way'
a clarification on this. every game of theirs started off as early access. Its not something new
first impressions shouldn't be a worry when the game is "early access". instead download the game on full release and then give your thoughts.
Why does assetto use such strange engine noises? Sounds like early 2000’s racing games
£19.99 cdkeys , that's a few bevvies down the local pub
That weird artifact went away for me when turned of FSR
Any other headset rather than the meta quest?
yaaa, get back in 1 year time and lets hear how it is going for Assetto Corsa EVO, please....
Its 2025 and rumor has it that Gran Turismo 7 VR is still in early access 🤣
working on it for years but still early access wtf lol
it will never compare to GT7 in vr.
Bahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa
AC one is better than it in VR. This will be also once they fix it up.
Bit unfair to be making judgements about the quality in VR when you're using a compressed stream headset
For the early access, ace runs perfekt out of the box for me. I'm surprised.
I think it's detrimental for the developer your trying to be honest but not mean, and for people who trust the content creators it would be better to have a clearer vision of the game❤
GT is literally the worlds hardest car driving simulator racer
LOL No. And its not exactly a sim either.
@steve_ire321 their moto is a real driving simulator but ok.
Early Access helps with the development. If you're not a fan of this, wait for the full version and leave the clickbait video's for what they are.
Yeah I’m going to skip this one until it’s been optimised, I’ve got a 3070ti and I just don’t think it would cope in VR.
Gaming industry is taking gamers for all their worth. Selling unfinished games so the gamers can play test, but they pay for the pleasure lol.
At least they are honest about it, look at the state of MSFS 2024!
I just keep replaying Half Life Alyx on my Rift S
I bought it while it was cheap, but won't touch it until it's had a couple of updates. ACC released in a similar state, as did AC back in the day. It will be great, just not yet
Early access allows the developer to get feedback.
ACC was a mess in EA as was AC. People need to get a grip. Also, this game is for sim racing enthusiasts.
sims suffer in terms of visuals cause the physics are so demanding so most of the gpu and cpu development is spent on physics
Complaining about early access makes no sense since you can just wait for full release and buy it then.
It's in early development, give it time.
You really need to get a racing wheel! ...I know I do, man I pissed as a fart loving this channel....Don't drink and drive
Mate stop calling yourself old! We fellow 40 (well I am) year olds aint old at all, not even halfway there!
The Early Access program was one of the worst things to happen to gaming. Despite some exceptions, it is the most abused release format to exist and does absolutely nothing to protect the consumer.
OMG I'm so tired of PC3 I would love another VR street racing game :)
EA is fine along as at least 50% discount goes with it. Some of these developers need that cash injection
It looks no better than the original Assetto Corsa which came out 11 years ago. From this footage at least.
Its not rhe quest 3!its a great headset. I return my pimax crystal light and i have a big screen beyond . Quest 3 is my go to headset
