  • I apologize for the background noise. This video was filmed at the Reptile Discovery Center, in DeLand, Florida. Their website is below:
    www.reptilediscoverycenter.com/
    Just to clarify a few things (I know, trolls can't read, but I'm going to try anyways.)
    Snakes have kinetic skulls - this means their skulls are very complex, composed of several joints, hinges, and pieces, that allow them to expand and stretch in ways yours and mine simply can't.
    This flexibility is an adaptation that enables snakes to swallow whole prey that are much larger than their heads.
    So while it looks like the animals skull is getting smushed, that is not the case. It is simply flexing along it's natural joints.
    also, people handling venomous snakes do not have the luxury of using a light and easy grip. Venomous animals are highly dangerous, and must be held securely at all times to prevent bites (and fatalities). A loose grip would enable the snake to bite him, or his assistants.

    I'd also like to address a few people's concerns: Compared to other venomous snakes, Cobra fangs are relatively small. A little squishing is necessary to get those small fangs through the plastic, and encourage the snake to release it's venom. That's OK because snakes have Kinetic skulls - skulls in many parts, most of which are jointed, and allow for a certain degree of flexibility and stretching (which allows them to eat things much larger than their head!). It can handle a little "squishing".

      +Junior Figueroa Street you don't need to be an expert to know how animals should be treated. We all live on this planet yet humans think that they're the only ones building houses on animals homes, building roads hence the animals get run over to to cross a "street" that used to be just fields, and people just killing of animals for money. So in the end we're worse than any deadly snake or animal on earth. And it's sad that so many people fail to realize that. Everything deserves respect whether it's a goldfish or the president. Can't you tell? They did this to show people how venom is extracted. In the end I think that humans end up on a lower level than animals themselves.

      Snakes have whats called a kinetic skull - it has a lot more joints and hinges than yours and mine do, and as a result, they are very flexible, which is what enables snakes to eat something much larger than their heads. :)
      You can't simply 'go easy' when handling venomous snakes - they won't hesitate to bite (and possibly kill) you. A firm grip is necessary for the safety of everyone involved, because animals that have been recorded to have killed a person are often euthanized.

    It looks uncomfortable, but venom extraction doesn’t hurt the snake. Mildly annoys it sure, but for a snake this big it’s a minor inconvenience at worst. Think of it like a human donating blood. (With very very rare exceptions) It doesn’t kill you, it doesn’t leave any lasting pain or suffering, and afterwards you go back to going about your day. And as a bonus to that analogy, it’s helping people.

Also they are pushing down fairly hard so the snake gives venom. Snakes aren’t puppies these guys are much more durable than you guys think. Stop underestimating these mighty beasts.

    • @melody2104
      @melody2104 10 ปีที่แล้ว +102

      Most likely not. These reptiles are in a centre. It won't be killed, but will mostly be reused to obtain more venom which is either researched to understand its origins or be sent to labs to be tested in enhancing or developing pain killers for cancer patients etc. There are venom hunters who do search out in the wild and let them go though.

No hard feelings for snakes since we do it for some better things of our life bcoz human' s life is important than animal's life. First take care of humans and later animals. Biggest mistake in our human race we run after only animal caring but forgot to care for human.

    The “roughness” and sort of vigorous movement is probably because of the snakes resistance. He needs to have a firm grip first of all. Those snakes are strong and if he lets up on the grip it won’t just slither away and mind it’s own business. That cobra is one huge muscle and it’s hard to be delicate with something that’s constantly pushing back.

    You guys are saying "oh he's squeezing his head so hard because the snake can kill him" ok so? Humans can kill each other, that doesn't mean you can go around and squeezing humans heads for no reason....I can understand if the snake was attacking him but no, the snake was captured and used as a poison donor and squeezed until he had no more left to give....and no one sees nothing wrong with that?

    • @jaddus9745
      @jaddus9745 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, we don't see something wrong with that.
      The cobra probably doesn't feel jack shit.

    • @dxtkhajiit3421

    • @ToxycBanana
      @ToxycBanana 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone you interact in the comments with right now is a human. You wouldn't be okay with people squeezing human's heads because there is nothing to be gained from it. They're not extracting poison, they are extracting VENOM which will be turned into antivenom and pain medication for cancer patients. This snake being in captivity is saving lives of your own species. You should be thankful for that rather than sorry for the snake.
