Can't thank you enough for this video... same problem here on a classic 71 Camaro. Shredded the thin walled filter housing as the STUPID shop that changed my oil (I didn't have time to do it myself) must have torqued that sucker to 25 lbs... I called them and they said they hand tighten only.... BS. Anyway got this Talon and it worked... thanks again!
OMG. I believe I am the previous owner of that ford pickup with the 292 Y block. Mine was the unibody where the bed is built onto the cab and was a 1963 model. And those chrome Y block covers are the same as the ones I paid 20.00 for. Heres the time frame. In the beginning of 2005 I gave it to a rickard silsby in exchane to mount the hood and left fender and re paint a 1989 lincoln town car at earl shiebs paint shop here in Houston Texas. On the oil filter I ran into the same thing on a 2002 harley last Sunday in where I had to screwdriver it to death and worked inward all the way to that filter metal flange, and what I did was use a stanley chisel to beat it from the side until I got it off. If your ford truck is the one I had, I still have the original valve covers that are factory red with the punch pressed ford in them and it was the C2AE block 292
What an interesting problem. I've noticed that the steel wall of new filters seem to be very thin these days, and when it buckles I wonder what I'll do next. Here you show a great solution. I have an adjustable, variable pin spanner wrench kit that might be worth a try, before spending dough and waiting for a specialty tool. Great video, I laughed at your frustration, hopefully you can laugh now too!
Made a hand tool by drilling largest adjustable spanner jaws and threading 2 bolts which located in shredded filter holes. Spen 4 hrs failing until I did that. A friend told me to use a hacksaw blade to cut seal and break hydraulic lock but too little space mine worked fine. Long bolts allowed me great leverage too
I have a long handled ratcheting bar in 3/8 use a stubby extention. Just looked like that thing was realy in there. Maybe get titanium replacement bolts. But you will likely never have to use that tool again.
The original valve covers are restored as well. I’m waiting on the original wing nuts from the polisher and then I’ll do the oil cleaner/valve covers at the same time.
Thumbs up even though it is in production at Bogert & Talon at least 2 weeks... also not available thru Amazon, 4WD Jeep & 4WP....also tried Oreilly, NAPA, EBay, Craigslist. etc...trying to find even a used one is impossible!
Thank you, I'm glad I don't need to buy welding equipment to get this thing off. Valvoline I guess forgot to oil the filter when they put it on, I'm not sure what else they could have done to get this thing on where you can't take it off.

Ok just a few days ago I have the same problem then I purposely take the tin metal off and when I got to those holes I grabbed a flat screw 🪛 driver put it to one of the holes and hit the screw driver with a hammer 🔨 till started turning, simpler solution!!!
I used a screwdriver in one of the holes, then tried to get swinging room with a hammer... NO MOVEMENT! Unfortunately it's a Genuine GM filter stuck on there, and the plate has 16 holes in it, so needless to say, they're very small, so only a P1 driver will fit in them. I put 2 in adjacent holes, then tried twisting the pair together... NO MOVEMENT. I thought to buy this tool and try it, but I bet the bolts that it uses won't fit into the small holes in the filter plate. I was gonna drill a few out to larger size to fit, but don't really want to put a bunch of drill filings into the oiling system of my LS motor.
bought the tool... was excited to end this oil filter nightmare but I go to use it and the damn screws that engage the filter bent and broke - F#*@!!!!
Mine came with multiple sizes and replacements.. if not a trip to the hardware store. They probably sell stronger ones! Patience! You’ve come this far!
There are plenty of videos on you tube that go into detail on how there made, and the canister thickness. Fram is the worst. I guess it’s pay me now and later!
@@moonlightfordf1005 Yup, I found it. Unfortunately, I can order it a couple weeks as I'm leaving town Sunday. I was going to drive the truck, but not this trip. I'll schedule some vacation time to work on it when I return. Such a PITA. If there was special filter release grease I would use it. Oil on the rubber seal may not be the best solution.
@@moonlightfordf1005 I think where I went wrong is I waited for the engine to cool before trying to remove the filter. I've never had a problem with hot filters. I just don't like the hot oil running down my arm. So, how did you determine the NAPA Gold and WIX filters have the thickest walls? Did you contact the manufacture's, or did you cut the filters up and measure them?
There are very informative videos on oil filters on you tube. Some get as good as deconstruction of them with measurements of the canister wall and how there assembled. Types of filter elements and so on. Definitely worth a look see.
Since I started doing my own oil changes I have yet to need anything rowdy'r than a rag in hand to get mine off. I might get one just in case, but I don't see me needing it on any of mine.
I'm pissed off at my nearest Honda dealership since they overtightened the oil filter on my dad's 13 CR-V to oblivion that I can't take it off myself every time he wants me to change his oil.

I had the same issue and my oil filter screw on flange was stuck on the engine. I used a 1/2" extension thru the screw on nipple and unscrewed the flange and nipple. Then clamp the flange in a vise and unscrew the nipple. Reinstall the screw on nipple and complete the oil change.
Google this. Bogertaviation.com. I bought it on amazon , and I checked all there alternate selling sites and it says unavailable, in production! I’m shocked. Try googling it , maybe someone has it.
I heated mine with a heat gun to the point of smoking so heavily, I was worried I'd was going to burst into flames! STILL NO MOVEMENT! I'm thinking I'm gonna use an internal pipe wrench thing to remove the nipple itself. They're seated pretty good on these GM LS motors, but they do thread outta there....

I am able to laugh at it now, but I think the best parts of this video, because of language, ended up on the editing floor!
Apretado a mano al máximo de lo que podamos más que suficiente.
A "Basterd" oil filter! Lol. Also yes I'm looking for a solution. Thank you for doing this. It kinda brightened my day.
That was the edited version! The Talon saved me. Best tool I ever bought.

Wow thanks a million brother you just saved me some money 💰. Great video.
The tool is currently only available on there website Bogerts Aviation. Call them to order it!
Good Luck my friend!
Got a chuckle from this. Really cool tool. I have had some hard time with filters that should be hand tight. Need to see that air cleaner installed

Rather than waiting for delivery, such a tool can be made from grinding a socket or flat 6mm sheet.
Since these tools are now extremely hard to find, that’s a good idea

I have lent mine out more then you know! It is definitely a tool a rental place or your local auto parts store should have on hand...
Do not overtighten the oil filter and you will not have this problem. Amazing tool though.
I agree 💯 %. i bought it this way!

Turns out I just needed a chain wrench, but good to keep in mind.

This reminds me of the watch tool to take the back cap off. I have one and will try it out!
Exactly what i thought.

Was that a Fram Oil Filter you had to butcher off?...Replace with anything other brands..
I replaced it with a better quality, thicker metal wall. It was a Fram
Thankyou very much had the same thing happen to a small oil filter that you cant get to👍😎
Sad thing is that the tool now is almost impossible to get.

Fram?
Mine was a Fram PH8A, but remember, mine was a cartridge filter originally and I was using the adapter to use a modern filter
