    Been using this case for a month and this case is everything I need for a long long time. Not only I took advantage of almost every space for the fans, but also added good 'ol CD-ROM in an odd bracket space for it.
    This case is a game changer. Unfortunately can't use wireless phone charging space, since I use A54.

    Here in Germany, the case is often on sale for 249 € incl. shipping.
    If you consider that 3 premium fans worth 75 € are pre-installed, the price is perfectly fine for me. But I wouldn't want to pay 329 € either.

    I just finished my build with this case, not too happy... Yes, it's well built, heavy, with lots of room for custom building and water cooling, but for over 330.00 dollars I expected a little more, nothing too spectacular here. Well, maybe the wireless phone charger that will never be used due to the location of the pc.
    The fans are not wireless! There is some wiring you need to do. I wish be quiet had its own fan and RGB hub. I do not want my temps or fan speed to be controlled by the case. I ended up buying a CORSAIR iCUE COMMANDER CORE XT Smart RGB Lighting Fan Speed Controller. Works great for controlling fan speed curves, but is not compatible with the RGB light wiring from be quiet without some modding ;).
    I found that I can fit a total of 11 fans within this case.
    3-140mm on the top
    3-140mm in the front
    1-140mm in the back
    1-140mm on the bottom
    3-120mm inside the case - not used in my build
    With a little modding, you can fit a 420mm radiator on the top. You will lose the fan bracket but you can get it to fit. They could have easily added the ability to do this.
    The GPU stand will scratch the heck out of your case be careful, they should have used some protection on the magnets, I used tape. The stand will also hit some fans on your GPU, just be mindful of where the bottom support lands. I opted not to use this and went with another alternative from EZDIY-FAB PCIe 4.0 GPU Mount Bracket Graphic Card Holder Multi-Angle Adjustment.
    Removable motherboard trays are always a win. PLEASE check the standoffs before securing your motherboard to the chassis. I found two standoffs that were not drilled and tapped and had to remove the board and replace the standoffs.
    The removable PCI bracket is great, however, I would have liked to see the ability to remove the PCI bracket without removing the motherboard. This would be a pain in case you wanted to change the look of your graphics card and nothing else.
    I have been a big fan of be quiet and was excited to get this case. but that excitement went away rather quickly. Nothing spectacular about this case. Nothing jumps out to me saying this is a quality case other than the price. The instructions were lacking. I want detailed instructions, I want to know what every wire, screw, and accessory is and where it goes.
    Slightly disappointed in this case. RMA coming.

    • @STSYT
      @STSYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your own experience with it!
      Your thoughts on the GPU stand are absolutely right, and I completely agree. My unit (as of now) did not (yet) suffer from any scratches, and to be honest, I have no clue why. In another video you can see how brutally I was using it due to the octopus not really fitting in that well. But no, no scratches yet.
      But just a question here, why the RMA service? Nothing in your comment suggested that something was broken? Correct me if I'm wrong here but I believed RMA is exclusively for wrongly send or defective products? Not a no-ask return policy?

    • @Byrkster
      @Byrkster ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@STSYT Just not happy with it. Not what I was expecting. Nothing physically wrong with it. A return merchandise authorization (RMA) has already been issued as a means to track the merchandise. You are allotted a certain amount of days for a return. as long as you follow the sellers guidelines.

    thanks for your video. I have everything you have here. I also dont want to invert the layout.
    You chose to put the CPU AIO in the top. But you could have put the AIO in the side - maybe as an exhaust - cause there was no dust filter included for the side fans. dont you think that wouldve been better for overall temperatures? of course with 4x fans out at top & rear, and 4x fans in at top and bottom

    I still use my 900 Pro as a gaming/htpc/data repository (it holds 3 m.2 SSDs, 4 mechanical hard drives, an RTX 4090, etc. completely comfortably) and it's pretty great, if a bit fiddly to work in as noted in this video. I have no need to upgrade to the 901, but it looks pretty great! If I was in the market for a replacement this would be it.

    I have the 900rev 2 and think it's the cat's meow!
    I put all the fans as intakes and put one in the basement, I have 4 bays filled and replaced the CD portion with a 4 bay SSD and hotswap HDD.
    Lots of room for everything I want.
    Easy to build in.
    Strong metal, nothing cheap about it.
    But BeQuiet! does like to improve and I suppose all the improvements are worthwhile. I do like the simpler fan brackets.

    • @STSYT
      @STSYT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree on a lot there, but not about the easy to build in part. The 900rev 2 was definitely a monster considering when it came out. But compared to even a Silent Base, the build process is a night and day thing.
      The Dark Base 901 is a lot like the original 900 rev2, just a lot easier to built in.
      And of course the fan brackets.
      The fan brackets are just awesome.

    I'm about to build a pc like this. The case is the same but in addition to having a 360mm radiator I have one more for the GPU with 260mm. I am having doubts where to install both. Should I put the CPU radiator at the front and the GPU radiator at the top or vice versa? Or the CPU radiator on top and the GPU on the side, taking advantage of the two existing fans on the front? suggestions are accepted. And one more question. How to put the fans and argb controls contoled by the case and bios simultaneously? Nice video. 👌

  • @Vladek16
    @Vladek16 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have the original dark base pro 900 and watching this makes me want to switch 🤩
    I'm just wondering if I would be able to fit my existing custom radiator configuration and if by chance I could even add another one 👀
    I have two Hardware Labs Balck Ice radiators, a 420 mm in the front (452 x 146 x 29.6) and a 360 mm in the top (398 x 126 x 54.0). If the Dark Base 901 can take those two AND an additional slim 360 at the back it would be my new dream case 😍
    edit : just watched the kitguru review, they have a 360 at the top and it looks soooo small.
    maybe this case can take a 420 at the top, a slim 420 at the front and a slim 360 at the back 😍😍

    I just got this case and the only issues I have found is by installing 420mm radiator in the front of the case the water tubes from the bottom makes it imposible to put the cover on and because I chose inverted design when I tried making the tubes go from the top it would not reach the CPU. And the last gripe is the rubber pads on the bottom are glued with cheap glue and have slid off I miss the Corsair quality where the rubber feet are held in by a screw.

    I got rid of my Phanteks P600s because my Silent Wings 4 140mms created turbulence noise behind the front fan bracket. Now I'm the market for a new case and this Dark base Pro 901 ticks most of the boxes. Do you know if the spacers with the Dark Base Pro 901 prevent the turbulence issue?

    • @eugenijusdolgovas9278
      @eugenijusdolgovas9278 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but they are only included for those 2 fans in the front. I took the liberty to remove them and mounted my radiator in there.

    • @STSYT
      @STSYT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a 100% sure thing, I had a look at the Phanteks P600 and how the fans are mounted there. Using the spacers, you'll create a significantly bigger gap, so it might actually help compared to where you're coming from.
      In total there are 3x sets, two pre-installed and one spare in the box of goodies

    This case is almost perfect. Why almost? Because of the side panels. For this kind of money, we should be able to choose between tempered glass and solid. Or at least put hinges and a handle, like the older and cheaper MSI Sekira 500.
    For anyone who owns it: is the 5.25" still usable after mounting 3 x 140 mm fans in the front?

    • @DVTHEFOX
      @DVTHEFOX 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No because it covers the slot

    • @bjyoungblood
      @bjyoungblood 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Couple of catches if you use the 5.25" bay for a DVD/Bluray drive
      1. You would be limited to 2 x 140mm. So, the answer to your question is, no as pointed about by @DVTHEFOX.
      2. More to consider - You will have to move any HDDs (if you have them) to the fan section on the side. This also prevents using fans on that side (unless you custom mod). So, there's a tradeoff. I would've really liked for them to make a single side panel that could take a mix of fans and HDDs, according to preference, with some adapter/converter. For example, they could make a HDD cage that mounts to 120mm fan mount. With a case so modular, this would've been the last change I would've recommended.

    • @DVTHEFOX
      @DVTHEFOX 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bjyoungblood As for me i am considering on keeping the DVD and put an HDD at the top bay from the side, then put 3 fans at the top for a lot of exhaust, and if i decide up then i could just buy an external DVD/BR recorder and put the HDD at the bottom and a 3rd fan at the front
      I don't think i'd need 3 more fans on the side if there's 3 intake ones etc

    10 fans, 3 in the front 3 on top 1 in back.......isn't 10. I assume the others are the 2 or 3 on the side vent and possible the one mount under the front of psu shroud
    @12:40
    But why? Even if you don't use optical drives (I do) it gives you a universal bay to put just about anything you could want from a pump and temp controller to a media card reader to any other specialized equipment...hell, put in a fancy pants lcd and have nyan cat greet those who dare look inside
