Great video! However, Titleist needs to be pure class. From just the ball only, it should be in the top echelon of brands , especially since about 70 percent of the fields in the majors are using Titleist. Plus, there's a domination in wedges, slight edge in drivers, and decent amount of irons. And don't forget to mention TPI training! (Haven't even mentioned putters since they've been categorized under Scotty Cameron)
Hey Gabe! Mostly I agree with this, although I'll have to disagree about Cleveland. The CBX wedges alone should put them into the Would Buy category. The hybrids are great, too, as are the Launcher XL and the hybrid irons. The value for money in all their clubs is just really, really good. But they don't have much flash and shelf appeal, and they're mostly aimed at mid-to-higher handicaps, with the exception of the RTX wedges, which are their only real tour presence. So they don't tend to get a lot of love. But every Cleveland club I've tried has done precisely what it "says on the tin," as our Brit friends say. The CBX wedges are astonishingly good. I agree with the CBX wedges comment. They occupy a special place in the wedge market. I got fitted into CBX Zipcores earlier this year (I'm a high handicapper) and they fit my game really well and blend well with my Mizuno JPX Hot Metals. They're certainly not the most attractive golf clubs in my bag, but they don't punish me like other blade-type wedges do. Other than their looks, they're a great design IMO
PXG, Titleist, & Calloway in my book would also be in the top tier. Cleveland has come out with some excellent woods for 2021. They always have good wedges. I would buy them.
I dont get how Bettinardi or Ping isn't either, Anser is a classic, G4xx series are always highly rated, Glide wedges, and even the irons. Adams is a 100% Nah, there a direct to consumer crap company now.
Imagine placing Miura in the would try category. Miura San is probably the best living example of someone who knows literally everything about their craft. The guy not only forges the most beautiful irons and wedges, but he fits people by ear, no launch monitor.
Mizuno is definitely Pure Class so I am glad you moved them. Taylordmade is definitely not Pure Class and should be in the Would Buy category. Taylordmade is too gimmicky and comes out with something new every six months. Ping and Titleist should be in Pure Class. They been around for a long time producing great products and have a great reputation. They come out with new products every other year when they have improvements to show. Everything else I agree with or don’t disagree too much. Keep the good videos coming.
Shows how subjective this is, I’ve had 4 Scotty,s over the years as well as ping and Piretti putters, but by far the best I’ve used is Bettinardi by a distance 👍
I have to agree, I play TaylorMade wedges and woods, Mizuno irons and Odyssey DW putter. IMO, Odyssey put's a lot of innovation into their putters and I consider the quality right up there with a Scotty.
I think it's difficult to really compare them overall. Example Cleveland LP is PURE CLASS for low handicap or senior golfers. Mizuno Irons PURE CLASS and I am a huge Mizuno fan supporting Mizuno everything (JPX Forged irons/ Bag/ Shoes clothes etc) except the driver and fairway woods. Would be interesting to do this again looking at handicaps and types of club.
I have Cobra irons, woods and driver. They are amazing and affordable, oh and most importantly forgiving! Why I don’t see more amateurs playing with Cobra is beyond me.
Simply because the top tour players are hitting something else. Consumers are easily manipulated by celebrity endorsements. Absurd but true. Why else would an insurance company pay Shack millions to schlepp their overpriced product. Obviously Shack knows absolutely zip about insurance. Yet it works🤦♀️. Last time Cobra was kind of hot was when Greg Norman was ranked #1 years ago. (Even though he was the biggest choker of all time and usually came in 2nd). Cobra makes great stuff at an honest price.
Most fitters I have seen simply do not have Cobra reps and they are under represented at the big box stores imo. Basically, they get out marketed and don't have the same word-o-mouth to fall back on that a company likes say Mizuno does.
Im the same as you. I got a full bag of cobras earlier this year during a fitting and i smashed them better than any other brand both in terms of distance and accuracy. Definitely a pure class brand.
Good video. I’ve played golf for 50 plus years since my Navy days. Usually I buy a set of irons and driver, woods every 2-3 years. Started with Haig Ultras woods & irons custom built in the Navy. Good but I needed more. Fast forward: played Titleist, king Cobras, Ping for many years. In the end my last 300 yard drive was with the Titleist 983k driver about 20 years ago. Played ping drivers for about 15 years. Then I bought the Titleist TSi driver - new ball game. Hitting it further and good accuracy and more. accurate. Looking at T100 irons next and I’m going to buy because of the big punch, turf interaction (best I have ever felt in 50 years) and accuracy. The Awt shafts. My vote is with Titleist as elite, top of the pyramid. I can still shoot in the high 70’s.
I'm playing the Tour Edge Exotics C721 irons & have dropped from a 19 handicap to a 12.5 in quick fashion. High Launch, Strong Flight, Consistent even with off center hits, been hitting average 8-12 greens per game. Hitting them closer than ever. I will give the credit to these irons & my practice time hitting them.
Great video! Loved the discussion. I would put Titleist, Ping, and Bettinardi in Pure Class and move TaylorMade into Would Buy. I would also move PXG down into Would Try. And honestly Adams, Yonex, and Nike can go down into Nah. :)
PXG is fabulous. Did club fitting and they did a fabulous job without pushing. Got their iron blades and the price was wonderful and they played absolutely pure. Made in USA.
After watching Scratch golfs video on how miura makes his irons using the 3 stamp method and the process behind every iron made by them is just pure class imo.
The very definition for "pure class" in terms of irons is... Miura. They are likely some of the best forgings out there, fantastic feel, quality and all. Pricey, for sure, but you certainly can't expect mostly hand made Japanese boutique irons to be as cheap as some mass produced semi-generic game improvement stuff. Cleveland irons and drivers are "meh" for sure, but wedges and putters clearly should be in the "would try" at the very least: I went to buy a Scotty and left the fitting with a Cleveland that felt slightly better, worked better and costed half as much!
There are so many good choices now. Back in the 60's and into the 70's almost everyone played Wilson Staff irons and either Wilson of Spalding woods. Callaway, Nike, PXG, and Taylormade didn't exist. Titleist was primarily a golf ball manufacturer, Ping a putter manufacturer. Mizuno a foreign iron manufacturer that was rarely seen in the US.
Personally a huge fan of Srixon. Always played their golf balls but the ZX line seems like a firm buy. Would probably move them up and move cobra, argolf, pxg and TEExotics down a racket (personally!)
Awesome list. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time while mizuno was in the would buy section though, for me their irons alone made them pure class just like how Scotty Cameron putters are in their own league. I actually yelled out "yeew!" When you rectified it hahah. Always love watching your content, here's a sub!
You must be getting a different iteration of TM clubs that we get in Europe ! As the ones we receive are without doubt the worst manufactured clubs bar none . A friend recently waited six months to get his irons and three heads came flying off within a month . Would give up golf before I bought another TM club . Currently playing PXG Gen 4 irons and they are without any doubt best irons I have ever gamed in 40 years at least two clubs longer than anything else on the market . Ping and Callaway are also”Pure Class”
Love the video gabe! Only change I would have made is setting price aside, I do think PXG irons are not only well made, but are innovative and perform well. Never would have thought that but after hitting a ton of irons this past winter, went for a fitting of gen 4 0311 P, and they overall performed better than my p790 and have reduced my handicap from a 12 to an 8 this year in large part due to the iron game. Mizuno pro 223 we’re close but didn’t quite have distance I needed from them and glad to see you bumped them up….keep up the great content as always!
Thanks Gabe! Your and inspiration for me personally in finding a way to turn your passion into a profession and love your content more than other TH-camrs. Some day hope to make my way down to Florida and get to play golf year round! Keep it up and would highly recommend a video on the Pxg irons and see how you like them as for me, I was really, really surprised by their performance, feel and sound.
I have medical issues and was playing Taylor made Sims, after surgery I could not hit them with lick. To make a long story, I traded for Tour Edge 722 exotics, and wow!!! Unless you are absolutely in love with your clubs, I would highly recommend the Tour Edge. I have been playing golf over forty years and while unpacking at home I was pleased to see the made in USA label on the clubs. please try them
PXG opened a store near me and since then I have been a full convert. Awesome clubs but above all else best customer service in the industry. I was fitted for a putter on a Wednesday. Club arrived in store 4 business days later. It had a couple of defects on the shaft. PXG apologized put in a warranty claim right there and said to hold on to my putter until the new one came. Putter came exactly one week after claim was put in. Driver, 3 wood and hybrid out performed my prior clubs
Have you checked out any Sub70 irons or does their system turn you off too much? I game the 699 pros and felt they were as good/no different that the TM p790/770
Hey Gabe, i am going to tell you about a hidden jewel, the PXG 0211 blades. They are buttery soft and unbelievably easy to hit for a blade...they look great also. If you bought a set of these, I would recommend the Mitsubishi graphite shafts. If you tried these clubs I would almost bet you would play them for a while...trust me on this one. I played them and loved them, unfortunately they were not long enough for me. I'm a sr. golfer and do not hit it as far as I use to.
Ve played Ben Hogan CFT irons years ago and the TaylorMade burner irons. Both were decent but I got a set of Mizuno JPX 800 Pro Forged irons awhile back. Recently put new shafts in them Dynamic Gold S300 105’s (Previously had the S300’s 120’s). Great irons and love their products. Only issue theses days are the strong lofts on newer versions. Might consider in the future. I play a 2018 Calloway Rogue driver and it is good. Recently purchased a PXG 0311 Proto strong 3 wood and love it too. Thanks for the opinions.
Been building a Callaway Diablo set from 2008 era. Gorgeous club designs and the hybrid 3-4 are amazing. Waiting to afford the irons set, but it's on my watch list. Not sure about a putter tho, I love bargain hunting, want something mallet design I think, I like the weight at the rear
Didn't you recently try the Takomo clubs along with the Kirkland and P790? I guess that this video is relatively old. Where would you rank Takomo? I'm a 15 handicap looking for new sticks.
Callaway needs to be just as high and really higher than TaylorMade. Driver's, as good or better - irons in game improvement the best and Apex as good as anything on upper end - Jaws wedges only surpassed by Vokeys and Odessey putters as good as anything!
I’m right there with you until the Jaws and Odyssey lines. I had an insert on a putter that just literally fell off. It was only held together by glue. Three other people I knew that had them had the same experience. I know they’ve since fixed it, but that’s the last Odyssey putter I will ever game knowing that their quality control can be so poor.
@@LetsPlayThru all inserts are glued in some fashion they should use a high quality epoxy but it is still unfair to hold an entire high quality brand down because of one manufacturing mistake. Putters are a very individualized taste anyway. The best I have had so far is a Snake Eyes long putter I customized and made an armlock. I am currently putting together a Boccieri head, a Cleveland shaft and a Super Stroke grip. The only thing TaylorMade can possibly compete with Callaway on is their drivers and while they are admittably long they are very difficult to keep in the fairway.
I remember buying a Yonex driver from Meijer in the early 90s for my high school golf team and it was great. Everybody that could, bought one that tried it.
Interesting choices, Titleist and Callaway could make the pure class, both are producing top end blades and wedges, Callaway arguably has the best driver right now. What about Evnroll putters? You could almost do this list twice, one for game improvement and one for players equipment, might be interesting to see the slight differences.
Taylor made and callaway are in the same class. TM has never been good for me and I have tried a bunch. I am true callaway fan and apex forged irons have been solid for me.
Titleist = pure class. Titleist makes Scotty Cameron, so.... ? Taylormade = pure class. Taylormade makes Adams Golf. Adams Golf is pure class. They also do have a new line, go visit their website. For me, Taylormade driver and 3 wood with Adams Tight Lies hybrid with Titleist irons and a Odyssey 2 ball putter (made by Callaway) all day. wedge package I think would be the Taylormade, Callaway Jaws, or Titleist Vokey...all very good.
Good call on the Mizuno’s. Played since the 70’s and gamed Wilson staff blades in the 90’s, than went to a custom set. 25 years later hit multiple irons. Went with the 919’s over ping. Close call, but I liked the feel from every good and bad shot on the Mizuno’s. Ping was outstanding, but so forgiving I couldn’t tell a bad from good shot. Also use the M-Craft putter and the st-200 woods. Woods are decent, looking to go to the ping woods next. Upon your recommendation, I now have the Payntr shoes, great spikeless, and the Oncore Vero x1. Solid ball. Keep up your personal recommendations.
I’ve got a bag with 7 different brands! Ping G425 driver and FW, Callaway FW, TM and Mizuno hybrids, Titleist irons, Cleveland wedges and finally a PXG putter. My favorite brand of them all is Ping. They don’t advertise like TM and Callaway. They don’t bring out new equipment every year and they’re not as innovative perhaps. They’re just solid and in my eyes they belong in the pure class category. TM bugs me and they’re my least favorite brand.
I hear you. I have only 4. Titleist in driver, woods and hybrids, PXG for irons, Cleveland for wedges and Odyssey for putter. What ever floats your boat.
I still play with my custom fitted Taylormade 320’s since 2002, and even today my golf buddies can’t get away from me. There’s a ton to say about custom fitting. Only new additions were SIM2 MAX and Spider putter.
Well, after a fitting from a well known fitter, I received Mizuno irons that weren't to spec. Too upright and too long. It took more than a year to resolve.
Solid list. Ping dropped on my list due to a bad iron set build. New set G irons custom fit at big box store came in at C6 swingweight from Ping. Played like crap for a month until I got it fixed. But still have a G20 3 wood which may be the best ever. PXG irons, new Titleist drivers, and Edel putters are some of my favorites.
I bought a Yonnex years ago, PPS driver and the head came flying off 2x. The place that sold it said it was my swing, the pro that was on the tee box with me when it happened the 2nd time told them, NO it wasn't! Never even considered them again.
Pretty hard to typify any of these by generalizing as many of them have some standout products in some club type while maybe not so much in others. Specialty manufacturers like Cameron or Bettinardi might be the exception as they have very limited offerings. Titleist and Taylormade would flip positions in my book and Ping would be kicked up to the top also. Bettinardi should also be in the would buy as they make an assortment class putters.
It seemed like you contradicted yourself a time or two between where you placed something and what you said about it but as a fan of Taylormade I was happy to see them up top. Fun video as always! Thanks for all you do!
Generally agree! Only thing missing was Odyssey, I have a Toulon putter that has been a game changer for me. Big fan and gamer of Cobra, Taylormade, Titleist/Vokey, Mizuno, and Toulon
Pretty darn accurate. I think PXG has improved and is getting competitive price wise, it’s my favorite company. I see Mizuno and Titleist as excellent brands also.
Sub 70 is a great budget Direct to Consumer brand. Compare their 699 irons to P790s-- the performance is comparable, the price kicks butt. (FWIW, I won a set of fitted Taylormade M2 2017 irons in a giveaway when they came out-- they were worth the price I paid for them).
G'day Gabe, I'm shocked. You just can't rank Miura irons without having tried them. Miura's are Pure class mate! I suggest you get your hands on a set and play a round. I then want to see where you rank them. ⛳
You have probably never heard of my first set of clubs - Petron Impala. I bought my set from what you would call a yard sale. What about this for a set - 1.5 Wood (Yes a one and a half wood), 3 wood, 3 iron, 7 iron, putter. The woods were made of wood.
In the past I had troubles with a local Roger Dunn while buying a set of TaylorMade irons, and I reached out to Taylormade and they were really great with their customer service.
Cleveland makes the best cavity back wedges on the market with the cbx line. Never had wedges that easy to hit regardless of the lie. The standard wedges/Frontline putters are really good so definitely don't agree on that ranking but the rest look pretty good. Remember when Taylormade got bashed regularly for releasing so much product but now Callaway releases double what everyone else does but it's not mentioned.
Glad you saw the light and put Mizuno where it should be in the end. I play the MP18’s and a Mizuno putter that you definitely need to try. Forged and milled. Pure class. I’m surprised Titleist wasn’t in pure class but I guess they lagged a bit in the drivers for a while (opening the door for TM and Callaway) but have definitely caught up with the TSI line.
I pretty much agree with your assessment. I play with Mizuno as my favorite iron clubs, followed by Taylormade and Cobra. I play mostly blades and cavity irons. As for the driver, Sim2 and Cobra Speedzone are my favorites. For my next purchases, I very much would like to have the Wilson staff blades. They look gorgeous. I am also considering the Srixon as well. Finally I still hesitate with Ben Hogan and I see them as 'would try' like you. Good review.
Disappointed in the Sub70 ranking. Innovation might not be up there, but performance and value far outweigh those in my opinion. Also held in high regards by MyGolfSpy and those guys only care about how the clubs perform, not the name on the clubs.
I demoed the 699s for a week and really wanted to order a set but ultimately found they didn’t impress me much over my old Pings. I went with JPX 921s which blew me away.
I think Ping should be in the Pure Class line. TaylorMade should be in the would try line . Callaway definitely in the Would Buy. No mention of our favorite putter.... Sacks Parente. Pure Class.
Very good video. I thought the rankings were spot on. Having been a avid golfer for many years, playing several of these brands, I do feel hogans are under the radar mostly because they are unavailable at Major golf outlets. Having played the red line irons for many years, and recently getting the PTx pro irons. I was quite surprised that you mentioned the Hogan line.
Only disagreement is with Sub70. They may not have the pizazz you look for but, their forged and player distance irons are super and fit in that niche of your "'most bang for your buck". The rest of their lineup is quality also. Ask Lester Barnes who was just fitted at one of their fitting centers in England. (Video on DHG channel here on TH-cam).
I play Titleists irons now, and TM Driver, but have played Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, Cobra, and even Chi Chi Rodriguez clubs…I can’t disagree with your list.
@@LetsPlayThru You’ve just opened up a can of worms Gabe…I was fitted for T200s at Club Champion with LA Golf shafts…I hate them…figured out on my own it’s the shafts…the LA Golf shafts I have are 85R (85g) and I can’t feel the club, my tempo, can’t make consistent contact. Did some testing on my own going to Golf Galaxy and having them put together a T200 with various shafts…found out the perfect shaft for me is a Project X LZ 6.0 weighing in at 120g!!! Then, since I was hitting so well with the Project X shafts, I decided to swap out my 9, PW, and GW for T100S irons…they arrived last week and they are unreal…I was actually giggling out loud on the range the other day after a few days of hitting them…just a joy to hit…They remind me of my Mizuno MP 69/59 blended set I had, but they are more forgiving and go farther…win win….So, now I’ve ordered the rest of the set, 5-8 iron T100S to go with them…and will be selling the T200s with the LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85R shafts…the shafts alone were $135 each plus $35 to pure each one…they are great shafts, but just too light for me…
@Lets Play Thru, just to tell you, Sumimoto Rubber Industries owns Dunlop, Cleveland and also Srixon etc, so, I believe its the same company... just FYI....
Suprised Docus didnt get looked at, after your reviews In regard to Nike, think was a bit harsh too include them as haven't released anything for so many years. I still think clubs perform well compared to others from similar age bracket. You only have to look at the majors they won, obviously in pretty capable hands.
I do love that driver. I just felt I didn't have enough experience with that brands entire line to make an informed decision, but I'd like to include them next time.
Hi, im getting back in the game after 15years. Im looking at some Callaway big bertha gold. Vs (a forgotten brand) Jazz clubs. Which would you recommend (buying used). Ps love your content.! Have a good day
TM? 7 yrs. ago I wouldn't have a TM club in the bag. I couldn't hit them worth a damn. I was fitted for a driver last fall and ended up with a Sim Max. Awesome driver.
I did the trial of the sub 70. They where really nice looking. I was injured, so it I wasn't swinging well. So it was hard to tell if I would like them.
I would put Titleist and Callaway in "Pure Class" OR put Taylormade in the "Would Buy" section. I see these 3 brands as similar brands when it comes to clubs. I have all 3 brands in my bag but am thinking of adding more.
I don't have the knowledge to definitively comment but belong to a club where I've been able to try different brands and clubs from various eras. Wilson is a good value for me and I bought a set of D9 irons slightly used demos. Tour Edge was my first set of second hand irons and consistently good quality. I have a set of their wedges too. My neighbor got a great deal on new PXG irons and loves them, with free custom fitting. I wouldn't trade my Taylormade driver, it is awsome and perfect for me and recommended by a fitter. Cleveland and Calloway are on my favorite list of second hand clubs for beginners and recent Cobra clubs. Great video, I will keep my eyes open wrt the many great recommendations you have made, thank you!
Titleist and Ping in my opinion should definitely be in the pure class category. I don’t believe Taylormade should be in the pure class category. I think they should be in the would buy class. Taylormade clubs have low resale value compared to Ping and Titleist. Ping and Titleist have been making quality clubs for a very long time .

Do Pro Simmons make any decent clubs
Now that you tried some Maltby clubs, where would you rank them?
Glad you corrected yourself with Mizuno's ranking. You cannot have a conversation about irons without Mizuno in the discussion - Pure class.
💯
Absolutely love my Mizuno JPX921 Forged Irons. Beautifully crafted and feel totally amazing.
Probably Ping as well.

As a scratch golfer with 4 RTX wedges I fully agree. GREAT wedges. With large combinations of grinds and bounce. Absolutely love them.
Ping is PURE CLASS!! They offer the most clubs to fit the most players of any brand. Ask my wife...she is a left-handed woman player!!
Nah is a thing of the past, they aren't the same as they used to be MIKE REED!

Absolutely TaylorMade is pure class. I’m loving my P7MB irons. Callaway (Odyssey) putters are pure class.
TaylorMade is the brand to go to. I Still have my RAC OS's and I have the M4's; and those just lifted my game to a whole new level.

Yeah, obviously he hasn’t hit Miura
Gotta put Titlelist in pure class! Other than that, great list.
Thanks Matt, admittedly it was a coin flip. But since I had put Scotty up there, I downgraded. But next year those two could certainly flip. 😀
I agree that on appearance they are very beautiful.
Yes we are def spoiled for choice these days
I still have a set of old school Wilson blades.Part of my vintage collection.
I play the Ben Hogan combo set along with the driver and 3w. They are beautiful looking clubs and all of them are forged so they feel amazing.
Personally a huge fan of Srixon. Always played their golf balls but the ZX line seems like a firm buy. Would probably move them up and move cobra, argolf, pxg and TEExotics down a racket (personally!)
I enjoyed your listings. My current set up is:
Cobra woods, fairways and hybrid
PXG Gen3 irons and wedges
Ping Dale Anser Vault 2.0 Putter
I think Srixon deserves further consideration to move to a would buy. They have a forged face, and full forged, affordable and good range of shafts.
Congrats on getting the handicap down Jason. Well done!
I went with PXG irons as well.
Best feeling irons (0311P’s) that I have owned.
I have medical issues and was playing Taylor made Sims, after surgery I could not hit them with lick. To make a long story, I traded for Tour Edge 722 exotics, and wow!!! Unless you are absolutely in love with your clubs, I would highly recommend the Tour Edge. I have been playing golf over forty years and while unpacking at home I was pleased to see the made in USA label on the clubs. please try them
I blind tested irons and hybrids at a fitting center, both came up honma (TR21x irons)... second was mizuno
Have you tried DTC clubs. Sub 70? I just purchased a complete set (TAIII) and they are the best irons I’ve ever used. That’s if you like muscle backs.
Ditto on the 0211 STs. I've been gaming them all year and they're extremely forgiving with tight dispersion for me. I play them in 7-PW
Sounds like you are gaming some winners. Very nice!
Ping is pure class.
Would you highly recommemd a cobra fly xl set over any other beginner sets out there and have you tried their latest Air X series set?
Interesting choices, Titleist and Callaway could make the pure class, both are producing top end blades and wedges, Callaway arguably has the best driver right now. What about Evnroll putters? You could almost do this list twice, one for game improvement and one for players equipment, might be interesting to see the slight differences.
Yes both very close to making the top tier for me. You are right, EVNROLL was a miss. I’ll get them in the mix next time for sure.
My only issue with Callaway is they seem to come out with 4 or 5 drivers every 6 months…a little overwhelming, but they are great…
Taylor made and callaway are in the same class. TM has never been good for me and I have tried a bunch. I am true callaway fan and apex forged irons have been solid for me.
@@petegalindez9961 the pro of that is you can get the previous version at a bigger discount
@@alexPsanz Excellent point! And it’s not even a year out of date at that point…
I'm playing Wilson Staff with the Elite 50 golf balls and am happy with the combo for a high handicapper.
Where would you place Takomo on this tier list now that you have tried them out?
This is the bravest thing I've seen on TH-cam.
Man, you put yourself out there.
I admire a hodgepodge bag like that, well done
Nice setup
Well, after a fitting from a well known fitter, I received Mizuno irons that weren't to spec. Too upright and too long. It took more than a year to resolve.
Solid list. Ping dropped on my list due to a bad iron set build. New set G irons custom fit at big box store came in at C6 swingweight from Ping. Played like crap for a month until I got it fixed. But still have a G20 3 wood which may be the best ever. PXG irons, new Titleist drivers, and Edel putters are some of my favorites.
Where would you put Epon and XXIO?
i have a new set of XXIO irons and I absolutely love them!!!
I can definitely see that. Titleist just might move up next year
I think Taylormade is good, just not compelling for me.
It seemed like you contradicted yourself a time or two between where you placed something and what you said about it but as a fan of Taylormade I was happy to see them up top. Fun video as always! Thanks for all you do!
Yes sometimes it was so close…
Generally agree! Only thing missing was Odyssey, I have a Toulon putter that has been a game changer for me. Big fan and gamer of Cobra, Taylormade, Titleist/Vokey, Mizuno, and Toulon
Pretty darn accurate. I think PXG has improved and is getting competitive price wise, it’s my favorite company. I see Mizuno and Titleist as excellent brands also.
Love my Wilson staff c300 forged irons, I don’t crush the ball anyways so a bit more loft and a lot more feel had me in love immediately 🇨🇦
Thanks Alex
G'day Gabe, I'm shocked. You just can't rank Miura irons without having tried them. Miura's are Pure class mate! I suggest you get your hands on a set and play a round. I then want to see where you rank them. ⛳
Love my Mizuno JPX Irons. Glad you bumped those up.
You have probably never heard of my first set of clubs - Petron Impala. I bought my set from what you would call a yard sale. What about this for a set - 1.5 Wood (Yes a one and a half wood), 3 wood, 3 iron, 7 iron, putter. The woods were made of wood.
Wow, I’ve never heard of a 1 1/2 wood. I would love to try that!
Where would you rate XXIO?
In the past I had troubles with a local Roger Dunn while buying a set of TaylorMade irons, and I reached out to Taylormade and they were really great with their customer service.
No Odyssey?
I don’t even like Titleist. But how do you NOT put them on the pure class rank?
Super close TBH
Great video. I am in the market for a new set of iron and your comparison made my decision easy. Thanks!!
You should try Sub70.....I'm playing irons and the wedges. great products!
Which model are you playing?
I'm a sub70 fan as well...I have the 699 irons and they booted the pxg 0211dcs outta the bag.
I will definitely be trying some more Cleveland out this year.
I really enjoy playing with the Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal, with Winn Dri Tac 2.0 grips. What do you think about the Winn Dri Tac grips Gabe?
They are awesome
Just bought the Mizuno pro 223. Glad you switched those up.
Maybe try the new Wilson D9 FORGED irons, try them on the channel …a thing of beauty I think would impress you very much. Stunning
Cleveland CBX2 are some of the most forgiving wedges on the market, and the XL Halos are the most forgiving irons on the market hands down...
I play Titleists irons now, and TM Driver, but have played Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, Cobra, and even Chi Chi Rodriguez clubs…I can’t disagree with your list.
Which Titleists are you gaming Pete?
Suprised Docus didnt get looked at, after your reviews
In regard to Nike, think was a bit harsh too include them as haven't released anything for so many years.
Have a good day
The gartner magic quadrant of golf…love it!
I had to look that up, and that is really cool! Yeah, I’ll take it 😀
TM? 7 yrs. ago I wouldn't have a TM club in the bag. I couldn't hit them worth a damn. I was fitted for a driver last fall and ended up with a Sim Max. Awesome driver.
I’m with you, I didn’t like the clubs for a long time. But the last five years they’ve been really impressive.
Taylormade PURE CLASS BABY - I agree. P770s M6 driver, M1 hybrid in da bag!!
I did the trial of the sub 70. They where really nice looking. I was injured, so it I wasn't swinging well. So it was hard to tell if I would like them.
What was the criteria? The brand overall? Clubs only? Recent history?
I would put Titleist and Callaway in "Pure Class" OR put Taylormade in the "Would Buy" section. I see these 3 brands as similar brands when it comes to clubs. I have all 3 brands in my bag but am thinking of adding more.
By and large I agree with the categorization. I might make a few minor changes (I'm sure we all would have some changes), but, by-and-large, I agree.
Any thoughts on XXIO?
Mizuno!! Haha the bump at the end, that was great! Love the way you did these rankings! Awesome vid Gabe!
Thanks Mark. Yes they def deserve it
Definitely titleist and ping in pure class. Because they are common does not disqualify them from being exceptional, which they are.
Sub70 irons are smooth as butter and they have the best customer service in the industry. Jason Hiland and his crew are pure class!
Sounds like you’ve made some great choices!
Scotty Cameron is owned by Titleist.
Ping completely changed putters and Irons for the entire Industry. Ping Pure Class.
They all have low resale value compared to new price points the last few years.
