Basically if spending extra 100 dollars is not a concern for you as in my case, always buy the newer version with extra smart features. That being said, if you can barely afford it, there is absolutely no need to buy the new version whose features are good but not a must.
Thanks for this video. I was looking for a video to explain the difference between the two for so long and never came across anything. I went ahead and bought the smart sensing model, but I don't regret my choice at all as I only use the sensing feature and have yet to use manual. Best purchase I ever made.
@@savitarr1162 Well that's easy. Look at your packaging directions and use the manual function. I eventually tried the manual function when we made muffins and lamb chops.
I have the XL Philips AF, which I LOVE! Upgraded to the XXL Philips (gold finish) and I think I hate it! Used it for the first time last night. All you need it the basics, as you’ll override all the settings anyway.
@@AirfryDaily in fairness, I’ve only used it twice, and only to cook then based pizzas. It seems to suck everything up to the coil. I tried to lightly cook one side of a thin pizza base, and it was sucked up - I didn’t have the wire mesh. I did have it in for the next try. Does the wire mesh have to be used for all cooking?
@@meekainc2650 For pizza's, I recommend the special pizza accessory, this will keep all the toppings in place. You don't have the use the mesh for everything. I have the grill accessory for instance, you can click this inside of the basket instead of the mesh part.
Just bought the silver model and its great! In Sweden the silver one is about 190 Euros and the copper one is about 360 Euros. Its basically the same machine in all aspect except for the "smart sense" that you will never need. Not wort spending the almost double price for some BS selling point. I kind of know what I put in the fryer, dont need a machine to tell me....
I bought the smart sensing version and trust me it's not bs. My gf hated our previous one. With this model, she can just put in whatever, select the item type and it does its thing and comes out perfect every time.
Is the one without the smart sensing just telling you the tempreture or is it also doing something special when you select a certain type of food? Like if you choose cake does it just the airflow to something that works better for cake?
So I bought the silver one but I'm a little bit confused. Why does it show only tempreture for specific presets but no timer? So for example chicken is 180 celsius but I have no idea how long should I keep the food inside. Is there any way to know?
Congrats with your Air Fryer. It only shows the temperature because the air fryer doesn't know of course the amount of food you are preparing. That is why it doesn't set the temperature for you. For example, a whole chicken needs a longer cooking time than just one piece of chicken.
Can a silicone baking pot liner be used in the XXL air fryer as it saves on washing up the whole base? The Philips website does not recommend anything. Thanks
Hello.Your video is very informative.Thank you very much for it.I would like to ask how can we clean resistance.I see some people using oven cleaner for it.Thank you
HI Nini. This is the correct version. The HD9654 comes with an extra accessory, I think the grill plate. The Avance is the 'old' name of this series, now it is known as the 'Premium'.
Same, basically no pre heating necessary. But I recommend pre heating for meat, chicken and fish. Pre heating to 180 / 350 is around 2-3 minutes (European model).

what do you make of the numerous amazon reviews complaining of smoke produced by the philips xxl air fryer? why is it a common problem in these reviews? videos on youtube all look ok to me, so i don't get it.
Great question. I will make a video on this. It is because only the Philips Airfryer XXL sucks air instead of blowing like all the other air fryers.
