    Thank you I am installing my factory harness today, and your video was very helpful to go along with the paper directions.

    You are the kind of teacher I wish I had in elementary school, jr. high, high school and college. Have never seen this level of presentation anywhere on you tube to date. Thank you. Wish you had more explanation about the controller and the 4 pin connector at the fuse panel at the driver side footwell. I am lost there.

      @darrenregehr4569  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't installed that personally. If you take off the fuse access panel that is left of the steering wheel, you will see at the far bottom of the fuse panel a 4-pin female connector. It is taped to the fuse box connector harness. You will need to plug the provided adapter into that connector. There are 4 wires that need to connect to your electronic brake controller. The installation manual shows how to do this on page 14 - 15. I posted the PDF of the manual at www.palisadeforum.com/threads/2023-hyundai-trailer-wiring-harness-install.6958/page-3#post-69998

      Glad it was helpful! As I stated in the video, there is confusion with many Hyundai dealers in the US. I found it most easily obtained through a Canadian dealer. I just found the closest one near me and called them. I had it within a week and a half. Because of the exchange rate, it was cheaper than getting it here in the States, so there is that as well.

    Great video! I would have been lost without it! In the US the part number is S8F67 AC700. When I spoke with the Hyundai parts dept in San Diego, that AC800 part number doesn’t show up in their system. And my box DID NOT include a 14 page install manual. Instead I got a QR code😢. Thanks for your video, Darren. I've been putting off tacking this job since it was driving me nuts where the controller block went since their picture #14 is clear-as-mud regarding where the heck that was supposed to be mounted, and the local service people were as useful as a left-handed monkey wrench. And while I'm on a roll, complaining, WTF for Hyundai putting a grounding point under the trim piece and using hidden inline fuses like they did; BAD ENGINEER (whack)!

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really wasn't that much of a PITA. The fuses might be an issue, but I understand the need. There are other grounding points one could use. I just chose to follow the instructions. It is definitely more water/moisture proof as that was the issue on the previous (2020 - 2022) model years. Overall, I liked the harness, just not the fuse location. You'd think that the ones in the fuse panels would be sufficient, but maybe using the CAN bus system required it.

  • @mobilemikem

    Excellent video, Darren. Thanks for taking the time to do this. You've convinced me that I can tackle the hitch and wiring installation on my own and save myself $600+ that my Hyundai dealer quoted for the hitch alone. Crazy, I know. I purchased the OEM hitch (S8F61 AU300) and wiring harness (S8F67 AC700) from Hyundai and have been reviewing the installation manuals. Both documents say that the wiring harness should be installed first. However, on page 4 of the wiring manual (before the harness has been installed), it says to install the hitch. Huh? Anyway, I see that your Curt hitch was installed before the wiring harness and I plan to do the OEM hitch first, too. Do you see a reason why this couldn't/shouldn't be done?

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you should be fine with installing the hitch first. The OEM hitch might make things a bit tighter to work around, but I think it also helps to know how to route the wires.

    I just bought a 2024 Palisade Calligraphy with the dealer installed factory hitch & wiring. I wanted a hitch and was aware of previous year hitch issues. I was skeptical the dealership would get this done on my 2024. It took them 3 days and it was done. Not sure it was worth the dealer cost of $1,350 but they did a great installation.

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not using the brake control wire at this time. If used, it offers braking assistance with trailers that are equipped. The 7-pin harness allows parking lights, brake lights, turn signal lights, and backup lights.

      Good video. The only thing that seems weird is where the harness goes thru the floor. It looks as though the wires are squeezed between steel and the grommet seal area. This looks like trouble waiting to happen.
      I think I would rather slot the grommet from the outer edge towards the center to a drilled hole big enough for the harness and then RVT all of it

    Great video just installed S8F67-AC700 on my “24 Calli. however i get no tail/running lights. brake lights turns and hazards all work great. do i need to hook up the brake controller wiring to have the constant 12v on the 7 pin? i don’t have a controller or a trailer with brakes. any ideas?

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't have a brake controller hooked up as well. I have tested the 7-pin with a trailer and got all the light including backup. I've used it with a 4-pin adapter for a smaller trailer without issue. If I had to guess the issue, it would be a connection issue with the relay mounted under the inside cargo area. The other thing to consider is whether or not all the fuses for trailering being installed. Some dealers have taken them out because they think it is the same fire warning as the 2000 - 2022 models. This isn't accurate, but I have come across some incompetent service centers. I had 8 dealerships spanning 4 states tell me there is nothing for the 2023 model for wiring. Palisadeforum helped point the way for me. Maybe someone there could help point you in the proper direction. Also, pay attention to plugging in the trailer properly. The first time I did it, I was off a bit and nothing worked. Make sure the notch is at the the proper point. Here is a diagram of the pinout of the plug - i.ebayimg.com/images/g/FZgAAOSwkH1kya-D/s-l1600.jpg

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The wiring in this video is complete. No additional power is required. The harness receives its power through the CANbus system. That is why there are fuses on the wiring harnesses.

  • @debbiehoffman5957
    @debbiehoffman5957 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why do you need a 4-way adapter if you already have the 7-way harness? Should I assume that you already own a trailer that only uses a 4-way?

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hyundai only makes the 7-pin wiring harness and all my trailers are 4-pin. 7-pin does allow larger trailers like RVs to be towed. So in essence, the 7-pin might be overkill for my application, but it does open up other possibilities. You can not go from 4-pin to 7-pin.

  • @ryanbennett1396
    @ryanbennett1396 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Question: It looks like the Hyundai wiring hit you got doesn't come with the 7-pin harness. What harness did you buy? Does it hook in seamlessly with this system? Do you have a full parts list soup to nuts (hitch, harness, wiring, 7-pin bracket, brake controller, etc)?

    • @darrenregehr4569
      @darrenregehr4569  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine is a 7-pin wiring harness. See the description box for the part list that I installed. The Hyundai wiring harness does have a 4-pin connector for a brake controller that is installed by the driver's side fuse box. I have not installed a brake controller at this time. Hyundai has since come out with its own hitch that sits higher up and goes through the bumper (at least on the Caligraphy trim level). This would be preferred as my Curt hitch sits a bit low in my opinion for a trailer and would need a receiver that is at least 2" higher. The kit came with everything needed (bolts and wire ties).

    • @darrenregehr4569
