My first Pentax was the SL and clip on meter 😊

Those clip on meters were a great idea!

That's exactly what i do regarding the film leader. Some people claim that it's best to open the film can with an opener and load it to spiral that way claiming there's more chance of scratching the emulsion pulling it out of the can a second time. My argument is that if you have the lose film in a changing bag there's more chance of it getting scratched so I, like you prefer to leave it in the can whilst loading to a spiral.

My reasoning is the same as yours and is born out from experience, I have damaged films in a changing bag by opening the cannister, My favourite tank is the Agfa Rondinax that loads direct from the cannister in daylight.....

Great videos, enjoying watching. I sold my Mama 7ii a few tears ago and have regretted it since.

Ive just purchased the Pentax S1 camera. Im a digital photographer, and this is my first venture into film photography. I literally know nothing about film! So im sure this is a silly question, but is this camera best suited to BnW or Colour? And will an ordinary Ilford 35mm roll of film do the job? Also never heard of Sunny 16 until I watched this episode. I gotta admit, im hooked on your videos! Im gonna learn so much. Thank you x

I got one of these but there's no light coming through the viewfinder. What do you recommend?

Hi, sounds like the mirror is stuck in the up position, remove the lens and have a look, advance the film and see if it comes back down, it should pop up when you fire the shutter, hopefully it's just stuck up by the light seal gone sticky, worse case it's a mechanical problem, usually sorted out by removing the bottom cover and observing what's going on, lack of use is the usual reason the mirror stays up.....please come back to me if you need more help.....

Hi and thanks for your kind words, I do tend to use eBay as here in the UK retail photography shops have almost disappeared. I only buy from 100% feedback sellers and in the description it must state that there is no fungus, balsam separation, snappy oil free iris, tend to buy from Japan quite a lot, their gear is in excellent condition usually, seller must accept returns, the item may cost more but it's worth it in the long run, the Pentax lenses are a lot better than third party lenses and are a good investment if in excellent condition, beautiful camera, hope you enjoy using it....

    • @thephotographersbag

Hi, learn about exposure, the combination of film speed, shutter speed and aperture settings, get you head around that and you'll be on your way, great choice for starters, wish you well.....
