    Hi Gary, I've been a Windows / Microsoft Office user for years (and still learning how to navigate parts of it). Bought my first Mac Book with some trepidation but I've had Apple iPhones and iPads, iPods etc. and appreciate the Eco System. Your videos have sold me and highly enlightened me that I made a very good choice. I still have to use the other for business as it is issued to me but it just reinforces what I've been missing. I am a subscriber and I watch as many of your presentations as I can. Thank you for your teachings. I know it demands a lot of time and effort to produce what you do. Our community is blessed to have your expertise. I have recommended your channel to many of my friends that are Mac users too. Thank you so much!

    As an aside: I've been a Commercial Pilot / Corporate Pilot for 47 years. You would make a great flight instructor / check airman . We train every 6 months in the simulator and the C/A always creates a situation we aren't familiar with or should know. You're "That Guy". That's a compliment. Blue skies!

    Really useful tips. I’ve used different signatures for years but didn’t know about the other ones. One of the frustrations with all that quoted text included is that the threads get very long if there’s multiple recipients and it’s hard to find which person you want to address. Also Mail doesn’t filter out the advertising stuff as well as gmail does.

    Reasons to prefer Apple Mail over of MS Outlook or Thunderbird? I could finally connect my Google Accounts with Apple Mail. I‘d been using Brave browser and looks like that give me problems (just for this). So, based on what I read somewhere, I closed all the browsers and set up SAFARI as my default browser. I open the Mail > Add Account > Select Google, and I got the Google window to continue the registration. Calendars are still something mysterious for me...

    Is there a way to automatically place the insertion of my reply BELOW the selected text but ABOVE my signature? Several years ago there was an add-on that enabled it, but it no longer works. Today I simply move the cursor, as you demonstrate at 2:29, but it would help to skip that step.

    Thanks for such brilliant and helpful videos! One question about signatures, if I may...Many emails I receive, contain signatures that include icons/images and Mail treats each of these as attachments (even though gmail doesn't). This makes it impossible to tell easily if the email contains an actual attachment that I need to read/action. I realise this can be changed if the sender modifies their email signature, but that isn't an option. Also, if I use Outlook, these icons never show up as attachments. Hoping you might have a solution...? Thanks again, for your informative videos.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know your pain. Unfortunately, if the sender includes an attachment, it will show up as an attachment. I always encourage people to NOT use images in their signatures for this reason.

    Hi Gary, excellent video as usual.
    I have a question though, I received an e mail with a form embedded in it for me to fill in, however when I reply, the reply has unformatted the embedded form/table. It looks like it has deconstructed the table and all the info for the table is spread out throughout the reply message.
    Is there a way to keep the original formatting when I reply?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard for me to say without seeing it. It would be a bad idea to try to embed a form (I assume HTML) into an email message. A mistake on the sender's part. Why not ask them for support with it since they are the ones who came up with it.

    As for the quoting on reply - is it really necessary? The sender will see your replay over original message anyway.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on how the sender is reading their email. I certainly don't see the original message when I get a reply. There are many different apps on many different devices and all with their own customizable viewing options. Plus, if someone sends you a 10-paragraph email and you are responding to one question in the middle of all of that, then quoting that one sentence will make it clear what you saying.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't matter. An attachment is an attachment. Sounds like they don't know how to download it. You can always zip it up and send them the zip. Or put it in iCloud Drive (or another cloud service) and send them a link instead.

    There are way too many scam emails today.
    I wish there was a better way to screen out spam and phishing emails.
    If phone compaanies can screen the majority of scam phone calls why can't email providers do a better job of screening emails.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spam filtering depends largely on your email provider. ISPs and cheap free providers do a poor job. I find Apple and Google do a much better job, probably because they actually care, and also because they have a huge volume of data to help.
