While Apple do a stellar job of promoting their hardware, they are not good at making you aware of what their software can do. This video did a great job of showing me that Mail isn't as bare-bones as it seems.
I retired a few months ago and had already decided to ditch all things Microsoft in benefit of Apple hardware and software (my work obliged me to use Microsoft’s software as a corporate policy). I’s been a pleasure to see how everything is integrated and works seamlessly, being able to start with my IPhone or IPad and finish on my Mac with absolutely no hindrances. Nothing is perfect of course, and we all experience glitches sometimes, but what a difference. And, better than, apps come free. It was a great decision to embrace the whole Apple environment.
Me too! what a relief it is to now only rarely have to use MS poor quality OS/software. It took me a while to switch to MAC, but now, I would never go back. I've been using Linux for years at home anyway, so MAC is very similar logically, if a lot more polished.
I think as we get older we appreciate simplicity one of the reasons I love Apple mail is that it is powerful but all simple and that is a hard thing to do. I really appreciate this video I learned a ton. Keep making cool Apple mail videos bro ❤❤❤
Most tech-tubers focus on spreading rumours and speculation about Apple products that might come someday. I focus on the existing OS versions and how to use the apps effectively and don't watch these other videos anymore. I really enjoyed your video and even though I have been using Apple and macOS since 2004, I still learned a few interesting things about Apple Mail. Thanks for that. Keep up the good work.
I have a client who wants to use Apple Mail - and though I am a Mac user - I have never used Apple Mail in a work setting. This info is amazing! Thanks so much. Now I feel ready to confidently say I can use it for my executive.
I’ve been a Mail user for years and I didn’t know about many of these tips and tricks. Thanks so much. One of the annoyances is that when using Mail on the iPad it’s a three step process to delete unwanted or read emails. Apple needs to find a better way.
This is super helpful. Do you have any tips on how to clean up email boxes that have thousands of emails? I have so many emails from marketers and it drives me crazy. I'm overwhelmed and I'm missing important emails because my inbox is being flooded with emails that are not relevant. I need to find a way to keep the inbox clean. Sometimes I get frustrated and sort by From and then delete hundreds of emails but that is a manual process and eventually it gets backed up again. Thanks!
I’m in the same situation…it’s so discouraging. I honestly don’t think there is any hope for me, I have over 100,000 emails sitting in my inbox, I don’t see a solution except for - leaving it as is and doing searches when looking for a specific email.
This is the video I never knew I needed! I have been relying so much on the apple mail app lately. I have bounced around from app to app. This is the best, love watching your videos! Keep up the great work!
Fantastic as always! As someone deeply integrated into all things Apple, these little videos go a long way in making tons of improvements in my everyday life. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! Very helpful! How I wish Apple would just change some (minor) things. Proper attachment view in the bottom bar or something, no inline attachments of images and colored icons / sender avatars in the mail list.
Brand new to Apple and really appreciated these tips! None of these options were clear to me by just using the app. Is there any way to delay the send, so I can cancel if I made a mistake?
Peter, another excellent video. One thing you do that I find meaningful is that you make a list of topics you will cover during the video and you show it. It suggests you thought it was worth your time and effort to do some preparation work on behalf of the viewers. - - - I watch a lot of similar videos. Many times the presenter just seems to randomly move from subject to subject with no apparent forethought.
Great video. I admit I’ve never really given apple email a shot but after this video I’m going to try it. Only I WILL be using folders as I use a version of the GTD system so the only things that stay in my inbox are those that haven’t been handled. I do think smart folders will be of use to me though.
Thank you! I had something happen a few years ago that scared me from using mail where it seemed like it was locally storing all of my emails and taking up precious hardware space. How do we prevent that?
Great video Peter!! Very informative. I had no idea that we could initiate a scan from the email client in conjunction with an iPhone! Wow. Anyway, I found that the phone needs to be unlocked or the scanning and other options with the exception of “photos” will be grayed out. Thanks again!
Very good video, mail is a very complete app, i really don't need a third party app for the use i have and with this tips i can be more productive, thanks!
Thanks Peter for taking the time to share. Love your manner and presentation, ands clear on what can be done to simplify. Are you planning to update for MacOS Sequoia?
Hey man. Thank you for this. Long time apple user here and you provided tips I never knew about. Question for you - one critical thing I WISH apple mail had was the ability to synch smart filters with iOS. Are you aware if this is a feature coming to the new Mac OS Sonoma and IOS 17? Thank you again!
Very informative video, many thanks Peter. Just one question: do you know if it's possible to apply signatures only to an initial message and not on subsequent thread (like Outlook)?
This video was super helpful in that it showed me a bunch of capabilities that Apple Mail has now that I did not know about. Lots of great stuff there! Sadly it also reminded me why I left Apple Mail for 3rd party clients like Spark and Airmail years ago -- the frustrating bugginess of Apple Mail. It appears that here in 2023 Apple's quality control for this software remains an issue.
I really appreciate this information. Thanks! But I am unable to use the "scan document" feature in new outgoing mail. The options are grayed out except for "photos". Any suggestions?
I've been using Apple Mail for a couple of months now and, on the whole, I like it a lot. However, there are a couple of things which I think Outlook handles better, the primary one being file attachments. I can't get used to the way Mail out them in the body of the text and, the worst is when they are at the bottom of a long thread and you and find yourself having to scroll all the way down. I just think Outlook - putting in the address bar area above - works better in this respect. What do you think?
Hey Stephen. I haven’t used Outlook in a while, although I have seen others use it. I agree that attachments in Mail are sometimes hard to find. It’s one of those things I just accept because no app is perfect and I really like Mail otherwise.
Amazing. I have been a mail app user for 15 years. Still you had 4-5 gems I had never considered in this walkthrough. Pretty cool. Great format as well. Sharp and to the point.
Can you set attachments as attached file like in gmail rather than have full screen mode? Same on iphone? Also why attachments are scatered around between mail text rather than be moved up above email like in gmail? Right now it look super messy
I really liked this video! Since you asked for suggestions: I would love to see a video (or a series) where you showcase your entire digital setup (i.e. all your productivity apps).
Thank you for this video. I am about to do a better job using email. This isn't the 90's as you mentioned. There is a better way to get my mail streamed.
Great video. These are all such great features. The show stopper for me is that when you Reply or Compose an email there is no way to Zoom In on the text... and it's so small. Yes, if you change the Accessibility settings and Opt+Command+= can magnify the whole page, but it's still not great. You can Command++ on an email you're reading, just don't Reply to it. Have you found a solution to this? I want to like Apple Mail, but this... ugh.
Great video but I want to know how I can set a limit on how many emails you receive! so you can stop filling up your inbox and ending up with 1000s of unread msgs!😩
Thank you for these tips! Great video. I'm still trying to figure out why I'm getting the blue question mark instead of the images in some of my emails. I've already unchecked "Protect Mail Activity" within Mail > Settings > Privacy...... But the result is the same. Blue box checkmarks still showing up. :(
Very good video thanks one question : once you get a calendar invitation there is an accept option yes and when you click it says reply sent ok but it does not add to your calendar automatically you need to click the bottom of the page to download than click on the download and save to the calendar … is there any other way or easier way? Thanks pretty annoying
Thanks for another excellent video 👍 I will say that I’ve been using Apple Mail for years. However, when I use the Block Sender and Unsubscribe features, I still have some emails from those sources show up in my inbox, especially the Blocked ones… and they will have the Blocked symbol next to them. That’s frustrating 😡
Hi Peter- Trying to start using apple mail. a question: I do not have Flags in the side bar. I have looked online and cannot find how to add it. Can you help!!?? Thank for the helpful video!
