My favorite song by Willie is from the movie Electric Horseman, My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, can't recommend this song enough. Willie wrote tons of songs also, for other artists.
Ray Charles is a legend for a good reason. He sang beautifully. Watch the movie Ray, it is the biography of Ray Charles, played to perfection by Jamie Fox. Very real and in your face and pulls no punches on his life and times.
Listen to Ray sing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” or his incredible version “America The Beautiful”....Ray could sing the phone book and I’d want to hear it....
@@JEppsLars when he sings "O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved And mercy more than life!" .. always makes me tear up a little.
Willie Nelson and Ray Charles are two artists who have done a lot of collaborations with other genres. Want some fun? Do Willie and Toby Keith "Whiskey for My Men, Beer for My Horses".
This is "sad", but more so an emotional song. I read a lot (but not all) of the comments. In case you didn't know, Ray was blind. Absolutely beautiful duet! Ray was (and still is) a GEM! RIP Ray! Peace, Love!!
Willie Nelson, the one man that can smoke more weed than Snoop Ray Charles thought this song would do better in country music than in R&B, one of the reasons he came to Willie Nelson to do the song.
Two legends. Willie has an odd voice but ive heard it all my life and i can hear the soul behind it. I can watch him do anything live. And Ray is perfection on keys and voice.
This performance was iconic Willie and Ray were good friends so when Ray decided to make a country album there was his friend Willie and so many others and this album was a huge success but this performance was especially a huge deal and one of my favorites
OMG ....Ray is the best soul reaching man EVER !!!! The genius ADORE Him!!! “You don’t know me “, by him ....so many “ Georgia on my mind” “what I say” ..etc..
First off, these two singer are considered by blues enthusiasts to individually done the two best renditions of Georgia. Willie is famous for his gentle delivery no matter the genre. Finally, you have to check out Toby Kieth singing I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again.
Willie Nelson has a treasure trove of material going back to the 60s. But it wasn't until the 70s that he became really popular as a singer. Always on My Mind, on the road again, blue eyes crying in the rain. You should check out songs he did with Waylon Jennings, like Lukenbach Texas.
Now, your gonna have to do "The Riders on the Storm" by the "Highwaymen" . . . . FOUR LEGENDS performing together. Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings.
My son, you have lived a deprived life without knowing their music. They are both legendary in music, you got to know both of their songs. They will be life changing for you.
Wow! First reaction to these 2 legends at the same time! Awesome for you! You've opened a gigantic can of music to enjoy from two of the biggest icons ever!
And signed a HUGE deal to do an album called "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music". Ray was bigger than any genre, and was hugely influential in the business of music, too.
This is my all time favorite duet. Both have very different styles and voices, but so dramatic together. This was recorded over 40 yrs ago. Pretty amazing.
Check out "Always On My Mind", "Pancho and Lefty", "Loving Here Was Easier", "Help Me Make It Through The Night", "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" from Willie Nelson
man. ray charles just felt every note, every drum beat just everything. i guess thats why he could do what he could do with what he was given. legend. sitting next to another legend
Ray Charles: Georgia on my MInd. Hit the road Jack. Willie Nelson: Blue eyes crying in the rain, Funny how time slips away, Crazy (made famous by Patsy Cline); A song about willie: I'll never smoke weed with Willie again.
Ray Charles was definitely R&B but he was from Houston and he LOVED country music. As usual, when Ray said he wanted to release a country album, the nay-sayers and haters BEGGED him not to. Ray knew better
It's all about lyrics, and a true heartfelt feeling you get from it. Some do it for some, and others do it for others. Never apologize for your true feelings❣️
Two legends and a great performance. This is quite the love song, she died with her man. Ray and Willie delivered the vocals and took you there. Phenomenal.
Willie is so much of a legend and Ray is another legend! Legends seem to attract legends. The whole album “Red Headed Stranger” is awesome. The title song “Red Headed Stranger” is very worthy of your attention. Or “Poncho & Lefty” is great alternative. I prefer live versions. Thank you much!
I can’t stop Loving You by Ray Charles & You Were Always on my Mind by Willie Nelson plz. Love your reactions, you listen without interrupting all the time
One of my favorite songs. My dad and I would dance to this, great memories, great song. Ray is great with anything he did, love Willie, Red Headed stranger is one of his best albums, Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain. Willie and Waylon Jennings another great duo and the 4 Horsemen, Willie, Waylon, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash
This song is meant for special events, when my Darling Dad passed 6 years ago, all of his grandsons and great grandsons, 9 in all carried my Dads Coffin into the church we chose this song. My Dad was a musician and a great country music lover, on his Coffin was 1 of his caps and my beautiful nephew who is in the Army did a very special thing, just as the Service was finishing he walked down the isle and took his Army hat off and laid it on his Coffin and picked up my Dads cap and put it on . It was his way of showing just how much he loved and respected his Grandfather.💝
I love to see young people interested in music from all decades. I was not so open to popular music from earlier generations when I was your age. Thank you for bring so open-minded. 🌟
willie nelson is the best and most prolific song writer out there he has made many number one songs for many artists and if willie does an artists song they know they have made it
Willie Nelson was my grandma's celebrity crush. When my grandpa died, she found a man that looked just like him! You should hear "On the Road Again" , and "To All the Girls I've Loved Before".
Back in the early 60s, Ray did a R&B cover album of country music hits from the 40s and 50s. Willie later gave Ray credit for bringing country music from obscurity out to the masses.
It makes perfect sense. There are tons of songs I won't skip, I like, but wouldn't make my personal playlist. Thank you for at least taking the time to listen and appreciate the music. Music is a Gift from God...and is a diverse Gift so we all can receive it.
Been enjoying your channel since you started reacting to country. Country isnt for everybody, but its nice and refreshing to see the younger generation recognize great talent, art, and music when they see it. Thank you so much!!! Looking forward to more of your channel. thanks again. Keep up the great work!!!
One thing that's important about a lot of genres is that they often cover a lot of variations and styles. 'Country' ranges a LOT, with influences from all over, from honkytonk to bluegrass to folk and more
Willie, arguably one of the 5 moat famous artists in Country EVER, says of the song, Ray "let me sing with him on it". Talk about humility. Talk about perspective, that's how great Ray was.
Ray Charles is just a Universal Artist. Gospel, Country, Rock, R&B? He did them all and all of it came out as just Ray Charles Songs because it was all great. His album the Modern Sounds of Country Music is just awesome.
One of the greatest original soulful voices you will ever hear: Ray Charles. I'm old enough to have owned his vinyl records. Back in the day when you have to have raw talent AND class. And the man couldn't even see the keys on the piano. How good is that? Last name was really Robinson, but he didn't want to get mixed up with the popular boxer of his era, Sugar Ray Robinson, so he used his middle name - Charles for his "stage name." Listen to some of his renditions of 'America the Beautiful." Just awesome.
Georgia on my Mind by Ray Charles is a classic. Willie Nelson had another song I liked that was called Pancho and Lefty. Be sure to get the music video version though to better understand the story.
Willie and Ray were neighbors and good friends. Ray would go to Willie's studio on almost a daily to play music and smoke weed with Willie, he said Willie always had the best smoke around. As Willie says Ray brought the song to his studio and decided to make it a recording.
Red Headed Stranger, Pancho and Lefty with Merle Haggard and for giggles Tony Keith and Scotty Emerick I’ll Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again. Too many great Willie Nelson songs out there 😎❤️🇺🇸 Edited: I saw Willie, Waylon and Jessie as a child. I’d be here all night giving you Willie Nelson songs to listen to 🤷♀️
I remember Ray had an all country album out in 1962, it was great. I think his big hits Hit the Road Jack and Busted came from that album. I was only 9 when that album came out but my older sister bought it and I loved it. BTW I requested this song and I'm glad you reacted to it.
Willie Nelson's 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain'.
My favorite song by Willie is from the movie Electric Horseman, My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, can't recommend this song enough. Willie wrote tons of songs also, for other artists.
That song makes me cry every time
Willie Nelson songs: '" Always on My Mind"; and "Crazy". Ray Charles songs " Hit the Road Jack" and "Georgia on My Mind"!
Ray Charles is a legend for a good reason. He sang beautifully. Watch the movie Ray, it is the biography of Ray Charles, played to perfection by Jamie Fox. Very real and in your face and pulls no punches on his life and times.
Georgia On My Mind was written by Hoagy Carmichael long before Ray Charles recorded it...but Ray's version is absolutely definitive.
@@StudeSteve62 Willie's version although not as good as Ray's is still fantastic especially on his live albums.
Listen to Ray sing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” or his incredible version “America The Beautiful”....Ray could sing the phone book and I’d want to hear it....
Truest true statement ever
Amen Mr. Robert
I have America the Beautiful in my playlist. I probably look crazy pulling up at the store with that pumpin.
His version of America the Beautiful should be played often, but I think I only heard it for the first time a couple years ago. It's damned amazing.
@@JEppsLars when he sings "O beautiful for heroes proved

Ray Charles was a legend. He could do whatever genre he wanted to. And make it sound GOOD!!
Willie Nelson and Ray Charles are two artists who have done a lot of collaborations with other genres. Want some fun? Do Willie and Toby Keith "Whiskey for My Men, Beer for My Horses".
Toby Keith, I'll never smoke weed with willy again
Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg "My Medicine" about weed and Snoop doing Country.
I love the horse song

A very wise fellow
Two legends. Willie has an odd voice but ive heard it all my life and i can hear the soul behind it. I can watch him do anything live. And Ray is perfection on keys and voice.
"This is a sad song'"
Me: Tears streaming down my face from the moment the song began.
Then dont watch ray and willie sing "a song for you" with leon russell. That beautiful song might wreck your whole week.
Ray Charles transcends genre. He is a musician and a writer and needs so adjectives. ❤🎙(Oh, and a fairly good actor!)
exactly
Both men are extremely accomplished singer song writers! Both have a very unique style. Love them both!❤️
Willie Nelson, Angels flying to close to the ground!!!

I've been listening to this song practically since my birth and that end chorus with Willie singing while Ray ad-libs never ceases to amaze me!
I love watching Ray perform. He looks so full of joy.
When you stop being concerned or trying to figure out, what genre each song is, you'll actually start to enjoy and understand ALL music!
exactly...many artist did not want to be pigeon holed into one genre. lots of crossovers.
Yeah, but it's part of his journey. Experience can't come quicker than it takes, and it's about the journey, not the destination, really.
He has to worry about it because he has listeners that want to know what they’re gonna listen to.
