“Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then”. Genius lyrics! I love Bob Seger. He’s amazing and I had the extreme pleasure of seeing him live back in the 80’s. Bob Seger is one of the all time greats. Thanks for this reaction. Please keep going with Seger (pronounced See-gur) it's a treasure trove of excellent music. HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS LIKE A ROCK MAIN STREET COME TO POPPA
This is a quote from Bob Seger about the song, talking to his Ex long time Girlfriend who is referenced in the song : Janey says to me all the time, 'You allow more people to walk on you than anybody I've ever known.' And I always say it's human nature that people are gonna love you sometimes and they're gonna use you sometimes. Knowing the difference between when people are using you and when people truly care about you, that's what "Against the Wind" is all about. The people in that song have weathered the storm, and it's made them much better that they've been able to do it and maintain whatever relationship. To get through is a real victory
Great reaction, Bob is from Detroit, Michigan and is both a great lyricist, musical composer par excellence and a fantastic sing! That was Bob on piano. So many other great songs to react to such as "We've Got Tonight", "Roll Me Away", "Turn the Page", "Still The Same" and "Like A Rock".

The classic timeless story of once being a vibrant, young man in his prime, and then an aging wiser man, looking back on what he used to bein his youth. We all do it. Love your reaction! As many stated in their comment Bob Seger has a fantastic library of great songs. His professional music career predates Bruce Springsteen by several years. He was every bit as successful as Bruce, but is older and slowed down in his later years. Check out Night moves.
Most songwriters write about the human experience in a way that often transcends actually having lived through it. This song speaks to so many common human experiences and failings, and successes, that I think he probably lived something like we all do.
You can't get any more classic than Bob Segar. Love this one (probably my second favorite of his), but my favorite of his is "NIght Moves" - so much soul, another story-telling one.
Seger was one of, if not the best singer/songwriter/storyteller, in American music. Turn The Page, Night Moves, Main Street, Like A Rock, react to those, you'll be hooked
I think for someone to make a masterpiece like this they must have experienced the things the story in the song tells. Like someone who has never had a broken heart trying to sing about a broken heart. Can't do it justice unless you've had that genuine pain
one of the best musical storytellers of all time. Most of his songs are about his personal experiences. BOB SEGER and the Silver Bullet Band PLAYLSIT: "Night Moves" - "Hollywood Nights" - "Shame on the Moon" - "Fire Lake" - "Against the Wind" - "Turn the Page” - "We've Got tonight" - “Still the Same” - "You'll Accomp'ny Me" - “Come to Poppa" - Old Time Rock and Roll” - “Mainstreet” - “ The Fire Down Below”
You should watch Seger’s video of “Turn the Page@. The song is from 1972, but it didn’t catch on until 1976’s album “Live Bullet”. (That’s a much better version). The music video is from 1995, but with flashbacks to a much younger Bob performing in the days when he was still riding around in a bus with the band, all over the States. The “walk into a restaurant” section is inspired by a real incident. And in the flashbacks you can see the hairstyle Bob sported in the early 70’s. His most autobiographical song, from the well known ones is probably “Night Moves”. Seems like most songs start with some piece of real life, but get much more cinematic and interesting through the songwriting process. Some find his music whine-y. I find it wistful. He’s rightly in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He grew up in Detroit. You have to be tough to survive there when he grew up. If it doesn't touch your heart, it will make you cry. This song mirrors my life so much, and at 74. Engineering school, 4 years in Navy including Vietnam, retired from AT&T, author of 10 books, painter, and now fighting a terrible disease, but I'm still running against the wind and liking it.
"The Fire Inside" is one of my faves- so much truth in one song. Ramblin' Gamblin' Man is another great one- just try to sit still during that! "Like a rock" is another one like this, written from the perspective of an older guy looking back. Also contains 2 smoking hot slide guitar solos! I agree with all the other poster's recommendations, too.
Bob has a backing band called The Silver Bullet Band. All from Michigan. You've got to see some vids of them playing live in their prime- they were untouchable! Interesting side tidbit: "Main Street" was not recorded with the SBB- he did that, and some others solo down in Alabama at the Muscle Shoals studio. That's the famous "Swampers" you hear playing the instruments. I always LOVED the guitar in that song.
When I was a kid, he used to practice in my best friends basement in Ann Arbor Michigan, though it was before he was a star. I've ve always had an affinity for Bob's music. He was a big deal, and is on Wikipedia's list of best selling album sales of all time. I/2 the sales of Springsteen.
Bob Seger never disappoints and this is my favorite Segar song and there are so many. Night Moves and Hollywood Nights are worth a listen. Keep up the good work in your diversity of music.
See grrrr Bob and Bruce are friends. They met in 1978 when Springsteen was in the Detroit area. He ended up at Seger’s concert at Pine Knob. (There are a couple great backstage pics if you Google) I think Seger went to Springsteen’s concert later that week in another Michigan venue. Over the years they have performed a song or two at each other’s concerts. Bob has cited the song structure of Bruce’s “Jungleland” to helping with the construction of his song “Night Moves”. There is even a story of them both being in LA to work on albums at the same time, and we’re staying at the same hotel. So they’d have dinner or hang in the bar and discuss the work of the day and encourage each other’s efforts. Nice. Nice reaction too.
SO SO MANY BIGGGGG HITS HARRI WITH THE BIGGEST BY FARRRRR BEING ( NIGHT MOVES ) :) BUT SOME OTHERS WOULD BE: TURN THE PAGE, HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS, OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL, FIRE LAKE, SHAME ON THE MOON, ROLL ME AWAY , AND MORE! :) THERE'S SOME FOR STARTERS HARRI ENJOYYYYY THIS GUY

You can only do your "Best" right?! Seriously great music. Made me want to become a musician at the age of 5 listening to "Live Bullet"! You want to hear Bob Segar check that out. It will put a real feather in your cap. You'll f-ing love it. Your life will change in a good way. Peace out and keep on keeping real music alive. Much love brother!
Bob had sold over 75 million records during his career. So,, yeah, he’s big. I think you hit it correctly when talking about how Springsteen is more intense. It’s a background thing. Bob is clearly a Midwesterner (Detroit); Bruce a Jersey boy. That’s what gives Springsteen’s music greater urgency generally. Seger’s music tends to come from more folksy, rural roots while Springsteen’s foundation is more urban, multicultural (doo-wop, R&B). I realize this is a gross over-generalization but I think one can discern the differences. Either way, it’s all rock and I love what Seger has produced. Great voice, top rate musician, great song writer.
"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" one of my all time favorite lines from a song.

Almost all of Bob's songs are biographical, Night Moves, Main Street, We've got tonight, you name it. It's from his life.
There's nothing Whiney about BOB SEGERS voice or singing! He's got the most Versatile male Rock and Roll Voice along with other Gendres of MUSIC 🎶 ! .
Both the guitar and the keys..Phenomenal. Thanx Hari
Running against the wind wild and free
"The Fire Inside" is one of my faves- so much truth in one song. Ramblin' Gamblin' Man is another great one- just try to sit still during that!
"Like a rock" is another one like this, written from the perspective of an older guy looking back. Also contains 2 smoking hot slide guitar solos! I agree with all the other poster's recommendations, too.
You will enjoy this Journey, BoB Seger is a Legend, Have a happy day!!! Try Hollywood Nights or HER strut!!!
Hi DAVE! A great artist! Thank you for reviewing this song
I.m 60 and it hits personal to alot of men cuz its our story
Bob Seger and Bruce Springsteen. Just sing about life, AND DO IT SO WELL.
See grrrr
Bob and Bruce are friends.
Bob is definitely in my top 5 greatest singers of all times…”Night Moves” next please🖤
Bruce is in the hall of Fame . Bob Seager is in the last room of the hall and Springsteen will never be close to the body of work that Seger did . Listen to Like A Rock studio version , Roll Me Away studio version , Old Time Rock and Roll , Beautiful Loser studio version , Katmandu , and the entire live album LIVE BULLET !!!!!! Happy listening AND I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL keep giving it hell big guy . 🎸💯🌞
You always play the best songs albums and artists thank you
GOD, I can't listen to these songs without hearing my Husband! But, I'm addicted, just to hear him, in a way!
I think when they both explore the heart or heartland, segers aim is more true. hes like a rock johnny cash or hank williams sr.
@@kelvinkloud Agreed. Springsteen exploration seems less authentic especially when seen in the light of his early work.
Seger plays piano, guitar, and a.few other instruments. Piano and organ working together are his signature sound.
Night Moves, Main Street, Roll Me Away, Come to Papa would give you a good spectrum of Bob’s incredible catalog
As good a singer and songwriter as you can find! Awesome
