    The spire is one hell of a bike, had to make the difficult decision between the Spire, Norco Range and of course the Enduro, less than a week later I am extremely happy with the purchase. Like they said in the video it is surprising just how agile the bike is, there is tons of good trail feedback too, its honestly a bike that can plow and also be a well mannered trail bike when needed.

    You can do the stroke adjustment externally with 2.5 allen key just need to remove the 2 bolts at the end of the shock body. Then remove the 2 2.5mm spacer that cut in half.

    You may alter the glossiness of the bike paint by wrapping it with protective vinyl wrap - in gloss option. Many MTB companies for that do have a matte and gloss versions to pick from.

    Excited for this video. I just built up an alloy Spire from a frame and the X2 shock it came with is great. One of the Pinkbike reviewers didn't like the superdeluxe either, so I guess the frame just works better with Fox. Also, a 205x60 and 205x65 are the same shock, the shorter one just has a spacer to limit travel. You should be able to have the spacer removed by a competent bike shop for no more than the price of a full shock service. I'm looking at the Cascade link since I had one on my 18 Patrol and loved it, but I can't justify it since the Spire feels so good stock (and actully has the same progression stock as my Patrol did with the Cascade link).

    • @adanielweaver
      @adanielweaver 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Blake_Cherubini I will have to try it with my Marzocci Bomber coil. I've just been so pleased with how poppy and playful it feels and I don't want to dampen that too much. I tried it on the Patrol but went back to air for that reason. Plus my alloy build with a factory 38 is about 37.5 lbs and adding the coil starts moving it closer to e-bike weight....

    I'm also loving my ALLOY Spire cause I ALSO broke a Stumpy Evo..(and doesn't hold water like the carbon model) I do notice the longer 446mm chain stay length for stability at high speeds but also corners like a moto on rails! This bike rules

    Great review! I particularly liked the fact that apart from how the bike rides you also addressed servicing - being someone who does it myself, I find it very important! How would you rate the amount of dirt getting into the suspension pivot bearings - especially the ones near the rear tyre (the rear of the rocker)? On my 2018 Scout they get a lot of dust and require frequent servicing. Also: have you been able to extract all the bearings from the frame?

    • @Blake_Cherubini
      @Blake_Cherubini  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I wish I could answer your questions but I haven’t had the bike quite long enough to notice any issues with the bearings or the need to replace them yet

    • @onemanmob6756
      @onemanmob6756 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Blake_Cherubini on my bike - depending on conditions - I sometimes have to service the pivots even a couple of weeks after the prior service. I usually just clean the dirt build up from the bearings and check how they rotate. If I can feel resistance or grit inside, I pull them out, remove the seals using a tiny screwdriver, wash in gasoline, apply fresh grease, put the seals back on and assemble the susp... It may sound like a lot of work, but actually it's not, and helps to avoid the need for bearing replacement. Also - it is usually the rear rocker bearings and the ones on the lower main pivot (sometimes also the middle rocker pivot) which need such thorough cleaning the most often . Also - I have learnt it the hard way - no mater now gentle I was washing my bike using water (no pressure washers - just a garden hose, tiny stream etc) the ball bearings were ceasing and even rusting (not to mention the bearings remained dirty), they would start rotating on the pivot - creating grooves in it and forcing me to replace the whole assembly - so now I only dry clean my bike or use wet rag to remove the mud stuck to it.

    I live in south Florida, and is pretty flat down here so we pedal a lot. I also ride park. I currently have a Jeffsy, which is great for the trails but not so great at the park. How well does the spire pedals? I can only afford one bike so I rather sacrifice pedal efficiency over comfort and confidence at the park. Though I need a bike that can pedal decently. Is the spire it? TIA. 🤟🏼

    Do you guys think this is a good all around bike for multiple different types of riding? I know it’s impossible to find a bike that does everything right, but I’d like a bike that I can use in the bike park and also go pedal with my friends. The one thing I’m worried about is pedal strikes due to the low bottom bracket. I ride a lot of technical rocky trails. The videos are awesome, and def helpful 🤙🏻

    • @Blake_Cherubini

      I think that it’s a good all around bike. Any bike that’s in that 150-170mm range will be able to handle just about anything very well. This BB is low, but pedal strikes happen on any bike. It’s more about pedal awareness imo

      I have a set of Code R’s on my GT Force and they’ve been outstanding so far. I found that once they get warm they tend to bite a bit more but aside from that they are very consistent. It might also help that the factory wheelset isn’t super heavy. I’ve ridden them for about a month with no issues at all.

    • @patrickmccormack1427
      @patrickmccormack1427 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had major issues with Code R's, being squishy. Tried bleeding, changing pads, and other things and couldn't get them like I wanted. Turned out, my pistons needed to be adjusted. Remove the brake pads, then take something that will fit in between the pistons and not damage them. Put a little inward tension on the pistons, so they don't come all the way out of the caliper, but let them move out in small increments. Takes a few tries but this will dial in your Code's. This method works the same as the pad adjustment on the RSC's. Took my Codes from brakes that I was getting ready to replace, to brakes with the feel and power that I wanted. Just throwing it out there, incase anyone else is having this issue. Crazy thing is, buddy of mine owns a nice bike shop. I went through, all the new full suspension bikes with Code R's and everyone of the new bikes on the floor needed that piston adjustment. No wonder they came out with RSC's. Hope this helps someone.
