Thanks for the review. The 6 player is pretty good, the rules getting 2 players to have actions a very interesting one, making turns burn round and changing your tactics. The original had those ships that were really brittle, and the place you attached the boosters kept snapping off 😂 - the ships looked better imo but they were a nightmareto use, like handling a bomb or something. With the cards being the same opening statements but with different outcomes we always used to try to psyke the other players into making a bad choice. In the original you couldnt end your turn on a colony space you didn't intend to settle and im not sure why they didnt keep that rule. I seem to remember you could also look at plannet tokens as you fly past but not reveal so like keep others guessing which I kinda liked as again a bit of bluffing could be used. It worked sometimes too allowing the same player to bypass a sweet spot, bluffing disappointment at the flip they saw then get it later because other players assumed it was a 7 strength pirate colony. Randomness was part of the game and seemed to balance out. Taking risks often paid off, being meek didn't (mainly card outcomes).
Seems like they tried to make it a bigger, more complex game, but still depends too much on luck and takes too long. I might just get it to try and easy my casual group into Twilight Imperium or Rex/Dune. Thanks for the video! Very insightful.
Would prob be great for that. Eclipse without the expansions or exodus Proxima Centauri are other games that might do it although they’re slightly more complex than thisZ
Please help. Im trying to get in touch with a catan tournament official on the phone so i will get an answer on 2 really hard catan rules where in my family each one caused an argument. I want a catan official please or possibly the guy in this video if he is an expert. One situation was in catan knights and cities 6 player and the other situation was in catan starfarers 6 player (Wild Space variation where all planets abd aliens are flipped over and unknown.) Who can i talk to please on the phone?

The Jason Statham of catan
Meanwhile I LOVE the Encounter cards. But I am one of those folks that don't mind randomness.

what is your opinion on any two player variants of catan?
We don’t generally play 2 player games but my wife prefers the 2 player card games of Catan. Catan is her favourite game too.
Another big negative is the price. It tends to hover around £65 which feels like a lot for another version of Catan.
This is true. I guess the component quality and the fact the original print was highly sought after is the reason.
£50 would’ve been nearer the mark.

Umm…
@@BoardGameBollocks thanks for the help? Lol
Not sure why I’d have contact with a Catan official. I’m just some doughnut from the UK that plays games a lot.
Catan website? Google?
@@BoardGameBollocks no worries mate! Enjoy that hot tea. :)
Finished it two years ago 👍🏻
