With map this big, there needs to be Catan light up version where push a number, all tiles for that number will light up. Similar to casino games.

7:27 When you get coins for connecting isolated cities with rails, would the purple hexagons in the eastern side of the map still count as in undiscovered city? Like, does it only work with the red hex’s that are more west on the map or can I also get coins for connecting my rails to cities on the eastern side of the map as well?

Well, I still got this game for 5 bucks at a thrift store, so i'll say that's worth it.

The reason I like this version is because it is only a step up from base Catan. Adding Seafarers and Cities & Knights to base Catan is a bit much, and a little clunky; plus I've burned out on S C&K Catan years ago. So now when I want a 'Catan fix', I pull Settlers of America out.

When placing a rail do you need to have it near a settlement of your own ?

if you like cities and knights then this is probably up your alley. I enjoy the complex spin on catan.

I'm with you on being over Catan, Sam. It was the first modern game I came across and I thought it was awesome, but then... what's this?! There's more games that do this stuff in better ways? Bye bye, Catan. This does seem to mitigate the "boxing in" part of Catan though. I think it's a better version for that. Great review!

I have this game in my collection. I have not played it in years. This game is just not worth the time investment anymore (the two hour play time on the box is a low estimate in my opinion). Definitely a step up from vanilla Catan but still just a tricked up Catan.

takes us about 2 hours to play a full game of this as long as people dont take a long time to make a move on their turn and at special construction phase

I agree that adding pickup and delivery to Catan seems too much.
