Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham's son Jason sitting in for his dad, wearing his dad's bowler hat and playing his father's drum kit (and the big choir wearing bowlers in John's memory). You know it's a great performance when Robert Plant was brought to tears.
He was brought to tears because just before the performance he commented to his band mates that they should have invited Jason to accompany them and represent his Dad. He was then overcome when Jason surprised them by being part of the performance.

@@FedMikeDC I heard that they did invite him, but Jason said he would have but he had a previous engagement. Either way, Plant appeared surpised to see him. He kind of gave him a "I see what you did there!" look.

Zepplin has actually given Heart permission to cover their music...thats why they play Zepplin tunes in their live concerts.
there is actually a long story behind it, the drummer in this is Jason Bonham, the son of the late John Bonham, who was the drummer for Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant and John Bonham were close to each other, Robert Plant had said, we should of invited Jason, and that was a big part of it, and the exchange between Jason Bonham and Robert Plant.
Ann was 62 when she belted this out. Still one of the best female rock voices out there.

Heart earned a standing ovation from Led Zeppelin. Amazing performance.

Someone recently asked Jimmy Page if he was still that hungry kid trying to devour everything about the guitar that he could, and he said, "No. But I'm that kid's grandfather."
I like how he seemed to be quietly calling out the chord changes during the guitar solo.

It takes a powerful voice to be heard, that clearly, in damn near perfect pitch AND LIVE, over the top of the choir. That's Ann Wilson for you!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this performance is like a religious experience, pure perfection! On top of the power of this tribute, I really love watching the audience's reactions - the Obamas, Yo-Yo-Ma, Bonnie Raitt, and of course seeing Jimmy Page's pure joy, and Robert Plant's teary eyes, so amazing.
If anything to do with the Obama's makes you feel anything but anger and rage, you need to take a step back and reevaluate what kind of human being you are, cuz those racist pieces of s*** did nothing but severe damage to this country....

This was Rock legends honoring Rock GODS!!!🤗❤ The Kennedy Center Honors is a yearly event honoring artists from all aspects for their contribution to American culture and Performing Arts.... Robert Plant (Zeppelin lead singer) was brought to tears and later said "I was sitting there thinking, how did we get here? When we started this band we were 20 year old punks and rebels.... I thought we'd always be punks and rebels!"..... he also stated that seeing Jason Bonham (the late Jonh Bonham's son) on drums surprised him and took it to another level....
This is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt tributes of all time..... and thank the lord the boys of Led Zeppelin were actually here on earth to witness and enjoy it.... Sadly, that's not always the case with honors and tributes!! Great reaction and thanks for this one!!!🤗😎❤❤
I've lost count on how many times I've watched this video, and it still gives me goosebumps. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Ann Wilson was 62 years old when this tribute was performed in 2012. What a set of pipes!

Heart has been covering Led Zeppelin for a long time Ann and Nancy are huge Led Zeppelin fan, but that right there was the best tribute I ever heard for any band. When Jason looked up toward the roof the last part of the song gets me every time. 😥
It has been said that all three, Jones, Page, and Plant, has given and said that Ann and Nancy have their official permission and stamp of approval, meaning they LOVE when they do their songs.

Robert had actually invited Jason to attend the awards show with the group - to stand in for his dad, as it were, be in the audience. Obviously, Jason had to turn him down, but he couldn't tell Robert why. Robert was quite hurt! So when they came on stage and he saw that Jason was playing, you could see Robert's delight, and that's why he's sort of pointing his finger at Jason, he's saying he understands now, why Jason had to turn him down. It's all terribly lovely!
And wore his dad's bowler hat.

It's Ann and Nancy Wilson. The Kennedy Center Honors always has the current President in office attend this event. They even made Robert Plant tear up. Led Zeppelin loved this done in their honor. Great job for Heart!!

@@jonnylumberjack6223 Wrong. It happened all previous years (it was postponed in 2020 due to covid but it still happened later) and Trump was never in attendance. His office said it was so he wouldn’t be a political distraction. Funny how every other president who attended wasn’t a political distraction; Trump didn’t go cuz he knew people weren’t there to kiss his ring. Plus nobody wanted him there anyway, so win-win.

Been my favourite band of all time. I’m 44 and Bonham passed when I was very young. I was extremely fortunate to get to see Page and Plant while they were doing their Walking Into Clarksdale tour. They started with The Wonton Song and as soon as they hit the stage a tear came to my eye. I was able to experience a dream that I thought was never possible. It wasn’t Led Zeppelin but it was close enough and a dream come true. I know what you mean about feeling it. The whole cover was great but that choir at the end was incredible

Bonnie Raitt was there rocking out, Steven Colbert & wife and I think that was Yo Yo Ma near the beginning. A star-studded event with the President & First Lady & the Honorees themselves. No pressure at all! There were no flaws in this performance. I love hearing it over and over again. Thanks for watching it.

Jimmy, John Paul and Robert's reactions are priceless and the tear in Robert's eye says it all. For Ann, Nancy and the other musicians to perform this masterpiece in the breathtaking way they did as its composers watched was beyond epic.
As a volunteer for the, yearly, KCH event, I was there that night & in the room - and, too see tears in Plant's eyes and how the whole band realize just what an honor they were receiving was memorable.
That is the Joyce Garrett choir, Washington, D.C., Joyce, African-American, is a well known choral director.

Smart, excellent reaction. I love watching young people react to the great music of my generation. I admit to being biased, but the popular music of the 60’s and 70’s has no peer for its significance and lasting appeal. Good choice on this video. To perform one of, if not the, greatest rock songs in history to the men that created it, and to do it so damn well is amazing and wonderful. I’ve watched this video probably 30 times and I tear up near the end every time, don’t know why other than knowing that I am witnessing human greatness on several levels.

Heart has done covers of several Zep songs. One of my favorites is their rendition of "Battle of Evermore".

This is the Kennedy Center Honors. It is tradition for the President and First Lady to be in attendance. That solo guitarist was incredible. I can’t imagine playing one if the most iconic guitar solos in Rock with Jimmy Page, the man who created, it in the audience.
One of the many, many things I love about Heart’s rendition of this song is how much more the lyrics reach me. I’ e watched this so many times, but one lyric that got me was one of the ones BJ reacted to, about there being basically two roads you can take, but you can change the one you’re on.. I’m with Asia on the goosebumps, I get them every time I watch this. To me, there is more soul in this performance than in a lot of churches.
Nancy Wilson, the blonde sister on acoustic guitar is recording and performing Gospel music these days.
Where do I begin with this rendition. I have seen this so many times and I still get teary-eyed. The choir coming in, the orchestra playing, the little shred in Ann's voice towards the end when she hits a high notes, the guitar solo and seeing tears in Robert Plants eyes. This is definitely perfection.

Coming back from our 8th grade class trip, our bus started singing Stairway to Heaven. Our music teacher was a chaperone on our bus and was blown away by our performance.

I saw Heart live a couple years ago in Virginia Beach, VA…they’ve been one of my fave female rock bands for decades (I’m 51 now, have been listening to all these groups since before becoming a tween) so needless to say how honored I felt to see Heart (and Joan Jett to boot), Heart played Stairway To Heaven at that concert and to say I was blown away would be an understatement!!!🤘🏼😍
While the serving members of Led Zepplin were in the balcony, the drummer, John Bonham, sadly passed away some time ago. But John Bonham’s son was on the stage playing drums as a tribute to his father.

This performance let to John Bonham touring with Heart, his band opened, then he joined Heart at the end for a 30 minute encore of Led Zeppelin songs.

I cried the first couple of times that I watched this. For die hard Led fans, the symbolism really got to me. Watching it bring Robert to tears while simultaneously bringing so much joy to John and Jimmy is overwhelming.
Amazing tribute for sure! Most might've not noticed but they also panned the camera on world class classical cellist YO-YO Ma rocking out in the audience as well. A good song can touch anyone no matter the genre.
Jason Bonham did a great job on drums,what a chip off the old block. His dad taught him well! And the surviving band members all seemed too enjoy it also! One of my favorite bands growing up, loved them! They were up in the balcony!
When the guitarist started ripping into the solo, this transcended being a tribute to Zep, and became an anthem to the spirit of Rock

Ann and Nancy did a unbelievable job on this song (LOVE HEART). Robert Plant stated he hates when people sing this song and they were all blown completely away by the preformance and it shows in all of there faces. "Much Respect"

Outstanding song and performance by Heart and all the other performers The drummer is Jason Bonham who is the son of the original drummer for Led Zeppelin. When John Bonham died LZ broke up, they were just too heartbroken to continue. The Bowler hats are a tribute to John Bonham, also. The men in the audience (wearing the ribbons around their necks) are the remaining original members of Led Zepelin.

This one ALWAYS seems to bring tears for me no matter how many times I watch the performance video or see reactors' videos. The guys from LZ were welling up a little bit and seemed so pleased with this performance, and then Jason is pointed out to them by the spotlight landing right on him. AMAZING sound, SUCH a GREAT job all the way around on this song, as usual for Heart.
