I still say "Silver Fox" is the best looking narrow boat I have seen in all your videos :-) But then it's you Colin and Shaun that make it a great fun and yet relaxing boat !

OMG. Me too! She talks about cruising on her borrowed "yacht" which ends up being a run down dinky boat...she and poor Richard both end up in the river. Or the one when she invites them all to "partake in riparian entertainment". Such a funny show. I love britcoms.

So, I relive my journeys through you. Thanks very much. Barrie.

Sjnce there are no towpaths and peoples property goes down to the waters edge, they are probably reluctant to permit hire boats etc pitching up there, (Can I use your toilet please?) After all, not everyone is as pleasant as you two. Splendid to chat with Shaun outside W H Smiths in Windsor on Wednesday. Keep it up.

A few months ago I found you, binge watched your videos, and now wait for the next one. I watch a lot of TH-cam channels, and you are my favourite. Near as I can tell we have a lot in common. When I first rediscovered narrowboats I thought when the covid crisis is over, and my cancer treatments are done I would travel to England from Australia for a narrowboat adventure. Sadly, unless I am lucky, and get into a study where they modify modify my T cells to destroy the cancer, about a 33% chance of getting into the study, I have about a year left. I will make the best of that time reading, and going on You Tube adventures with you and others. I can't express just how much joy you bring to me. I am a former broadcaster, and I gather we have a connection there. I am a Yank, having spent the last 6 years mostly in Australia with considerable time in Vietnam. No mooring, reminds me of summers on the Maine USA coast 50 years ago when I was a young lad, where the signs were often "keep off or get shot." Later I lived in Oregon where the coast was mostly open to everyone.. I love you guys, you always bring a smile.

In their description it says they have a go pro hero 7, which can withstand almost anything! They can go underwater, you can drop them from high up and all sorts. Lots of people use them for videoing extreme sports like skiing and mountain biking because they're robust, and because Go Pro designs lots of attachments for them. There are attachments for helmets and handlebars and tripods and everything.

I don't think it's the homeowners who are the problem. Anyone who owns a riverside property deserves privacy. We would never dream of mooring at the end of someone's garden. Our gripe is with the landowners who bought mile upon mile of pasture land which was used for mooring for many years and then banned boats. Some of this is because of badly behaved boater over the years, overstaying, littering, destroying the land, but some of it is also greed and selfishness, hence not a friendly feeling place to be. Sad real because it could be lovely!

We can tell you both put a lot love into each video down to the great choice of music to match the mood/scenery. Talking about the scenery, WOW just lovely areas of England you show. We've been binge watching for the last few weeks. We were to visit your beautiful country this year! I was in the UK way back in 1977 during the Silver Jubilee. Well that was a long time ago! We live across the big pond and unfortunately with the crazy time we live in we will be putting off our visit. We are both in love with the history of England. Sorry to ramble but we had to leave a comment to let you know how much we love what you are doing. You two are a to funny, you sure make us laugh! Stay safe and healthy! I noticed in the comments that someone was surprised that there was a script and I'm sure they were pulling your leg, but it occurred to me that it was also a compliment. Anytime people think that what you do 'to camera' is casual and easy, you know that you have done a good job. I narrate my own books to create audiobooks so I know how much work it takes to sound as though it all comes easy!
Back in the day, our boys would have camellia races in the creek that runs through our block. Red versus white. I can't remember who won -- more fun than sticks.
    Love your work.

Hello Boys its me again. Great video as always. I remember Wallingford from our boating holiday years ago when I went into the local butchers and got some really tasty sausages and burgers to cook on the boat. Another cruiser past us and said they could smell my cooking way down the river. I see you are heading to Goring, very nice village that used to have a great bakers shop(hope it is still there) where you could get some fresh baked bread. Take care as always and Lots of Love to you both. xx

Glorious day. I love the travel log as you cruise along. As for the “No Mooring” signs, perhaps you could *anchor* just a meter or so from the shore. That would get those unwelcoming people.

Lot's of beautiful homes and beautiful scenery in this one. The river cruising has a very different feel to it than the narrow canals we are so used to seeing, less quaint I'd say and lots and lots of homes only a few can afford. I did love the one that had the built-in boathouse though. Take good care guys and thanks for this one.

I live about 30 minutes from the Welland Canal which goes between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario by-passing Niagara Falls. Now a few boats have tried to do the falls route but the canal is easier. Anyway you can watch large lake freighter going through the canal on You Tube and it's very interesting. They sure don't have much room and the Captains really have to pay attention to what they are doing. Take a look sometime if you get a chance. Cheers guys. Great video as usual. Your dog has given us such joy, and since our Daisy Lu passed away, and we have loved seeing him in all of your episodes more than we can express. Like you, our dogs have meant everything. They are love bugs, spirit guides, joyful souls, what it's all about. Us humans need them for our wellbeing. And we have watched your episodes with an eye out for Dillon. He was and will always be a light on the planet. A joyful spirit and a love bug. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Thanks for brightening up our Friday. We found exactly the same problem on the Thames in regards to the moorings which does leave you with a negative feeling about the place. You end up having to do long distances instead being able to stop off and enjoy the villages. They are really shooting themselves in the foot. You will find the K&A is a lot friendlier. We did find though that there were a lot of time restrictions on the lock opening times because of water shortage last year - not sure about this year. If the tides are right and the lock keeper friendly, you can go through the sea lock onto the Severn under the
bridge and then turn around again. You do need a very long rope for the lock and might need to tie two together. It was quite the buzz.

When I was there were you are at the end I said to my wife that Goring was very boring. Have a little look. I too don't .? like those big bosts. As the one we got from Salters Yard Oxford Way was a Little boat wider then yours but smaller in length and it had a tiller at the front lefthand side with the front well door opened as we went along. Well we don't call our competition "Poo Sticks" but we do have large annual "Plastic Duckie" races that started similarly under a bridge. It is fun to watch the start as they have a great big bag filled (there could be thousands) with duckies and they drop them from a bridge for a sort of convoluted LeMans start. Nowadays though the race goes on through town, into rapids and over falls. First duckie (they are numbered) to cross the finish wins. Usually a very nice prize.
PS Did Sean need any help getting out of that big gopher hole he fell into at the landing?

    • @FoxesAfloat

Ian again pressed the wrong button, as I was saying, the Thames Path is free mooring but so many this is my land people came along that it was ignored even complaining to Enviroment Agency made no difference. When we first went on the river it was very friendly everybody helping each other and plenty of drinking and sharing, but that died a death when the gin palaces stated using the river, happy sailing thanks for the blog.
