- Awhile back me and my friend Joe from @oakiewoodsman did some bartering and i ended up with a few of his chainsaw's. Today we are testing out one of them and seeing how it does while cutting up some cedar to use for kindling this winter.

We have the larger Proyama (PCS68) with a 24" bar. It also came with a 20" bar. Jason loves it. For the price you just can't go wrong! He also has 2 Stihl but they have smaller bars.
So far i am liking it.
I have two others I'm going to try making videos on this next week that i got from Joe. They are the PCS58's. I think they need a little tweaking. I would like to try out the 68 for awhile. I have ran Brock's PCS68 briefly but not very long.
Cut your kindling the same length as your firewood.
I stack my kindling in with my firewood, so when I bring in a load, by the time I'm ready to start my next fire there's enough kindling.
Longer kindling doesn't take as much time to pick up, and if you are laying your fire correctly, the longer kindling makes it easier to start the fire.
If you are using dry wood you should only need maybe 4 sticks of kindling, 3/4" diameter.
Hey PNG. That's a good idea. I haven't used kindling in years. Gonna try out some of this cedar and see how it works.
Like the length idea. I suppose that is what I do and often break em in half when starting fires.
Agreed 👍💯
If you take your scrubby ones and raise the canopy, they will grown up good and straight and will be quite pretty actually.
I've got a few I could do that with.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead you will be shocked how tall they will get in a hurry when you do that.
Hey mike, that saw seems alright. Half my kindling is the scraps and bark from splitting, if I’m making is I cut it to 16” and split it small.
Thank you Mr Tony for the information. I think next time I cut it will be at 16" for sure. How small you usually split it 1"?
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead ya about 1”
Got to love cedar for kindling when it’s dry, doesn’t matter what size it all works great 👍🚜
Hey Mr Len. Thats good. Ill be trying out some this year
Very interesting that the pinkway uses more gas then the proyama.
I thought so too. Both saw's look almost identical. I'll do some checking on them some more and see if i can see anything different
Heck ya! That baby started right up! 😂
I was impressed 2nd and pull it hit
I love the smell of that stuff! Looks and sounds like it is running great Mike.
It did do very good. I'm wondering if it had some sort of nano chain of it would do better?
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead just dont know if they make the parts for them. I think it is a sprocket and not a rim sprocket right?
That looks like a nice saw!
Thank you Mr Dustin. So far so good with it
Hey Rusty Mike, I've got the 25cc "Chainsaw Chainsaw" top handle - looks very similar to your PCS26. Decent lil saw for the money. I cut my kindling the same length as my firewood so I can stack it all in the same racks in the shop.
Hey 902. So far i am liking this one. It seems to be doing a lot better than the pinkway. It seems to be great on fuel also.
That's a good idea on the length. I haven't used kindling in years. I'm gonna try some this winter though.
Great idea!
Good show, glad you got some cedar work! Keep cuttin'!!
I'm curious to give this cedar a try looks like it's going to work great
I have a Holtz “Jon Cutter” that by appearance is the same saw. I feel like Im looking at that old spiderman meme with the 3 spidermen pointing at each other 😂😂
lol. Lots of similarities in these knock offs
Love it man. Glad the saw run well for ya sir. Nice saw for sure.
Thanks again. I'm enjoying it. Well see bow it runs next time it's cold. Might of went a little far with the idle.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead I was kinda thinking that. I think there is a small air leak once it gets hot personally. I could totally be wrong, that is why you have them now!
With gloves, that button is super easy to hit buddy.
You will do it over and over again. That is one benefit of the switch type on the 2511t. I like that little rocker type kill switch but it is very easy to accidentally hit.
Yes it is. 1st time I thought I ran out of gas lol
Kindling variation is always different. I prefer 16" to 12". With cedar, ya only need a few pieces to start a fire, that's for sure. We usually dont burn the needles because they are messy. Im glad the proyama worked well for ya.
Thank you Mr Kenny. This will be my 1st year using any cedar. I hear is works great as kindling.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead the best
Seems to be an alright little saw
So far so good. well wee how it likes the idle when its cold next time. I think ive got it a little low.
Yeah i use western red cedar here for kindling but it grows differently here.
I keep hearing it makes good kindling. Most of ours never get any size to them.
38 minutes late and I'm still number one your followers need to get up earlier. I was doing chores and now I'm heading to Home Depot. I usually listen to some TH-cam thing.
Mr Todd they should wake up earlier lol. Ive been awake for almost 4 hours already
Thanks for being here. Dont spend too much at home depo
Lol we're up! We've been watching TH-cam and Mike was next in our queue 😊
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead I'm getting wood for this run in for my heifers, it was given to me Neibor started taking it down and said come get it so it was already pieced together so I'm just replacing the rotted boards and the ones I broke
@@toddcaskey9984 Thats great. I like free stuff lol
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid Thanks for being here you two. Gonna try and make your live today as long as it dont get busy at work
Bring your little saw up and we can trim some trees for deer season lol
Yes sir im on planning on it
Chaps!
Hey Travis. I agree people should wear them.
They're all at least good enough when they're sharp and running.
I don't use dedicated kindling. Burnable garbage, bark, and splitter trash. But, I'll only light my stove maybe 5-6x a year. Once 2nd half of Nov hits, it stays burning the til late March.
How similar are the gas tank sizes? It could hold 2x the Stinky Pinky
I agree. I'm figuring once the stove gets going there isn't going to be a lot of kindling used.
I'm not sure on the fuel capacity of both. When i compare them ill check that and see how much each one holds. Good idea
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead like my MF vs JD. MF holds 45g and the Perkins sips fuel while JD holds 26-28 and gulps fuel. But only 10 hp difference. Oh, and JD turbo MF not
@@brandonhoad9033 Thats crazy how somethings are engineered so differently
I have a PROYAMA chainsaw.
After I received the saw I wasn't really impressed so I contacted customer service about my problem. They very quickly got back to me and after a couple of exchanges and a quick adjustment the saw now works amazingly well for it's inexpensive price. It cuts just as well as my friends comparable Stihl at 1/3 the cost! I would heartily recommend Proyama and their power equipment to anyone needing a great piece of equipment at a really palatable price.
Hi Craig. I think these saw's are great from what I have used so far. I think some of them do require some tweaking but once you get them set they are good to go. Thank you for commenting
