I have been SO FRUSTRATED trying to learn the basics of how to do face-to-face podcast interviews and this video seems to have answered my questions! I already use Audacity for my solo episodes but needed to know how to include another person for face-to-face interviews. Thank you!
Open broadcast studio is probably a better choice for things like that. You can have multiple cameras and multiple microphones if you like. It's what I started using when I gave up on getting audacity to work with multiple mics, as it's hacky as best to get working with audacity.
Thank GOODNESS for your video. I had agreed to self-produce my own Podcast with a guest for every show, and I was freaking out not knowing how to get that done!!
Thank you! That was very comprehensive and easy to follow. I've been looking to set up a podcast where I interview people and while researching I've been overloaded with information. I was getting quite confused. You have a great way of explaining things without getting too technical or dumbing down.
Thanks you for this tutorial! It helped me so much since i'll be using 2 presonus revelator and didn't know how to mix them both at the same time for padcasting! Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for this guide! I was running into issues where Audacity could record a single audio stream such as audio from my pc speakers, but couldn't record my mic over top of it; This solved the problem. Cheers!
This is some Really good information! I recently had an audio nightmare in a video I did. Going forward Im doing multiple mics for best sound and will be able to choose from more than one source if one didnt pick up or failed. Thank you for this :)
Hi great video, I also use REAPER and would like to know if you can make a video on using 2 separate sound cards that have 2 mono inputs each and record all 4 inputs through REAPER at the same time on independent tracks...thanks 😊
This is the third of your videos on audio I have watched. I was concerned because all the other videos I have seen state that a mixer is required for more than one audio source, and that usb can't be used. You certainly proved otherwise! Loved it. Thanks. P.S. Is it possible to use one usb and one mini TRS mic?
If you select the menu item SYSTEM TRAY, you can close the GUI and it will continue to work. I also use the MACRO BUTTONS app included to make a quick MUTE button for my USB microphone...or you can create a PUSH TO TALK, or just about anything that you can do in Voicemeeter can be "scripted" using a Macro Button. I also make sure that "START WITH WINDOWS" is checked. The only warning I have is that if you disconnect a USB input/output while Voicemeeter is running, it may freeze up and you will have to go to the MENU and SHUTDOWN Voicemeeter, and relaunch it.
Thank you, I am pretty new to Windows, having only just bought a PC to make Windows tutorials - have been using mac for a long time. So haven't learned all these power moves yet!
Thank you for this video. Very helpful and answered a couple questions I had. One question I still have is what audio interface were you using to get the signals from two USB mics into the computer?
Hi Jane, for the second method for recording the two mics on separate tracks (using Reaper DAW), is the virtual audio cable connections using Voicemeeter still required? For the first method (using Audacity) you showed that Voicemeeter virtual audio cable is required for recording the two mics mixed together on a single stereo track, but you didn't mention anything about Voicemeeter for the second method using Reaper. 🤔Just wondering, thanks.🙂
How do you retrieve the 2 sound tracks so that it can be used as media in Davinci Resolve? Just the raw sound tracks/files. If you have vid on that, I'd review that for my answer :) Thanks.
Yes. ASIO/Reaper. Your multiple mics will show up just the same. Just keep adding tracks just like how she did with the AT and Shure. If you're using identical mics such as 4 Blue Yetis or 4 Snowballs, plug them in one at a time and rename the devices (Yeti1, Yeti2, etc.) Or you will have a devil of a time figuring out who has which mic in settings.
URGENT HELP NEEDED :: Hi, I connected 2 Samson Q2U mics using 2 diff USB ports in my laptop. Followed your instrutions. I use Reaper. Everything went the way you said BUT the recording is still not happening with both mics. I need HELP. How to connect? Pls GUIDE. I am stuck bad. I have an interview on WEDNESDAY! ie. In 2 days.
Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. I have a question though. I have 3 mics and in voicemeeter, it will only pic up one of them. If I change to a back up mic then both can be found. Doesn’t matter which of the two preferred mics I use, I can only select one. All are usb mics. Any help would be much appreciated.
Nice presentation ! Still, I got stuck on a quirk : why does my Voicemeeter rec the PC sound in mono in Audacity (even if plit in stereo), even though it's playing in stereo on the hardware ? The point would be to rec 1 or 2 mics , over the PC background sound, but the latter is recorded as mono, & as if only 1 channel was rec (lacky). Tried a bunch of different settings regarding inputs/outputs, WASAPI, WDS, ASIO, & other stuff... I'll add that by reconfigurating Audacity to REC the PC through WASAPI, it works perfectly in stereo, so the issue is indeed from VM... Any ideas?
Thanks for the video, i really needed it because i have been producing and recording with other artists and i have a couple of usb microphones. I didn't know how to do this. THANK YOU SO MUCHH!! By the way, I was curious and wanted to ask if you could make a video on the difference between using a reflection filter vs not using one. It would be very helpful. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Help me with a problem that I encounter. I want to record karaoke in Audacity or Reaper through Voicemeeter and I can't... The songs start to play as it is playing by two players in the same time with a delay between and I can't record my voice.....
What is the best software to get to record a video podcast? I have a Logitech camera and 2 yeti mics. All USB. What program will record all 3 at once. Then what program will let me edit and master that podcast together??
Voicemeeter is an audio mixing platform only available on Windows at the moment, with a Mac version in the queue that I am aware of, and I can't WAIT. There is a program called LOOPBACK right now, which costs $100 and lets you route audio between applications etc. VB-Audio DOES have an application for Mac that gives you virtual cable patching via virtual in/outs, but not a full product like Voicemeeter. They do offer software to monitor Voicemeeter and "talkback" to Voicemeeter for iOS, and it works well over Wifi with just the slightest latency.
This is great to learn and thank you for your prompt and professional support and help. Best regards from Hermann in Reykjavik Iceland. If you need help in going through any of these new possible just let my know and perhaps I can help. But I am not going to start a TH-cam channal.I do not have the time for that.
Thank you for the clear instructions! Does this also work for live streaming or only for recorded content? I can't get it to work in my stream, but it might be the platform I am using.
Thank you so much for this video ! I'm working on a podcast for work, and I need to record with two microphones since I need to interview a guest. I did everything you've said, but the sound quality is not really good... It's echoing and it's inaudible. Maybe Imissed something ? I'm using voicemeeter and two YETI blue microphone. Thank you so much for your hep !
Just wondering Can two XLR microphones connect to USB recording interface to computer, plus another USB microphone connect to computer, all three microphones record together.
Would this work with a goxlr for vocal mic and scarlet solo to mic guitar amp? Or could I just switch between them via Windows? I don’t necessarily need to run them both at the same time
Thank you for the video! I bought AT2020USB to sing karaoke on TH-cam. I have tried to record my song using the Audacity and it only recorded my voice but not the music from TH-cam. Can you please help me how to record both?
This tutorial has helped my brother and I get our podcast started and further it’s progress. Thank you so much! I do have a question though. Is there any possible way to record more than 2 people using usb microphones on audacity?
Okay... this must be a beginner issue. I follow your steps... But when I go back to sound devices, I lose the ability to hear any audio to listen to the rest of the video. How am I able to set the mics up in the control panels then go back and make the Voice Metter my output? I am using headphones to listen and edit my podcast. I would like to use one USB port for both mics? I have a “splitter” is that possible. This is a new computer and on my old one I never had any problems like this. I am unable to get any sound in Audacity. What am I doing wrong?
hey, can i make arecord with bluetooth also? momentum headset 2 sennheiser lgpl5 Bluetooth speaker I would like to get a record separately but the same time.
Just curious. Really hoping you can help. I’m on a Mac and voice meeter is only for a PC and not sure if it would do what I need. My two inputs are my iPad Air plugged into the mic jack and a mic plugged into a USB. Can audacity record both inputs on separate tracks?
In what scenarios would you want to record two mics in a single track of separate tracks? what are the applications for doing so. Also do you work with Audition as well and can you offer "how to's" on Audition when demonstration the audio techniques as your recording tool?
Do you know how I can use 2 microphones during a zoom call? I tried using "Y" adapters with no luck. I have a lot of people on my end and 1 mic doesn't pick everyone up. I would like to use 2 mics so everyone can be heard. Zoom makes you choose one mic only. I do not need separate controls for each mic. One control for the 2 mics would be fine. I would also be up for using a mixer with a USB output to plug into the computer but not sure if one exists.
