  • A review of the 2022 BMW 2-Series. The latest BMW M240i offers a very unique package. It turned out to be one of my favorite cars I've ever reviewed.

One of the best reviews of the BMW M240i I've seen, well done.

Your review was a breath of fresh air, you have a natural ability to communicate tech and not assume that your viewers already know it. The 240i is a great car - nice size, my 640i is way too big but at least it has the same B58 engine.

I went from a E88 m135i to a F87 M2, and they indeed are very similar cars. You can even swap out various accessory and suspension parts.
G20 looks nice, only issues I have with it is with the X-Drive weight is all the way up to 3800lbs now, but the back seat got smaller! I’m 6’ can sit behind my own driving position in the rear with no knee or head touching. You could comfortably sit there for a few hours really.
My E88 had a tiny back seat, despite being only marginally shorter car. This G20 seems to be in the middle back seat room wise, while being bigger and heavier. Make it a lot less usable as a daily IMO, which is why it probably makes more sense to just wait for the M2 version of this chassis, since it’s basically a 2 seater (unless kids) and the sports car version makes more sense to the packaging.

      I’ve used iDrive 7 in a loaner 550i from my iDrive 6 F87 M2.
It’s not terrible, but I still prefer 6, especially the gauges. I assume a few software updates will work out the UI design a bit. I found it too loud and “shiny”. I like the more subdued look of iDrive 6 for a “drivers car”.
I feel like the new iDrives are thinking more about their luxury and SUV lines than the drivers cars.
You do get newer features though and continued support which is nice

With a total overall length of 179.1 inches this vehicle is classified by the EPA as a compact car I wish BMW made a subcompact Rear wheel drive based two door performance car

Interesting BMW has changed the standard spec of the M240i for any build slots in July onwards to have iDrive 8 and the curved display.
Usual spec change to make so early on in the vehicle lifecycle.
I wonder if it will affect the value of the cars produced in 2022 without this upgrade?

@@ChrisONeillUSA yeah, I wasn’t happy about it at all. It was a bad gas pedal module they said. It took them 3 times to figure that one out. Now they have it because bird shit got into my clear coat. I wash the car every other day plus I paid for that ceramic glass coat protection they offer and it still happened. I honestly don’t believe they ever put it on my car.

The 2023 M240i does in fact have a rear wheel drive option, making it about 200lbs lighter. Might be a little slower off the line compared to the XDrive, but a lot more fun to drive!

Really bizarre that they built the new 2 Series with the old dashboard for just one model year.
